I like a lot of other people, first saw Jade Goody on Big Brother.I thought she was crass and and very dim.
Since then she has been in the media on a regular basis-mostly covering her inability to have an understanding of human nature and showing herself to be a bit thick.
I have found her at times and be that most of the time to be insensitive to others feelings, too vocal for her own good and at times racist. When she appeared in Big Brother with Shilpa Shetty an Indian actress, Jade was extremely racist and cruel towards her and I found her behaviour vile. She same out of the house apologetic and claimed she didn't realise what she was doing.
Since then she went on Indian Big Brother with Shilpa Shetty after a public apology and I must admit Jade had bloody guts to go on such a public show after being openly racist. It was on this show late last summer that Jade found out she was ill with cervical cancer.
Jade came home to Britain and emberked on the fight for her life. She had a hysterectomy and chemo, losing her hair in the process.I don't have Living TV the channel which broadcast her fight so didn't get to watch it.But I have read magazines, newspapers etc and have followed her fight from the beginning.
She has had a very public battle and nothing was left to the imagination, and she has made women be more self aware of the necessity of having smear tests and trying to get the minimum age of the test changed.
I think Jade has been amazing and fought her cancer with guts and tenacity. If I am honest i never really 'liked' her attitude but that was just the way she was.
But, I have found a deep empathy for her.She has been a fantastic ambassador for women and highlighted the need for smear tests. She has 'sold' her struggle to the media ensuring money for her boys future and who can blame her for that?
I cannot imagine and hope to God that i don't have to , leave my children like she has had to.She was 27 with two small boys that she clearly idolised and adored.I have shed a lot of tears for this woman and her children over the last few months and it is truly heartbreaking that she has now passed away leaving her two boys.
But, she has left a massive legacy and her boys should be very proud of her.She did make mistakes, but who hasn't?
I have read some appalling comments on the internet about her and yes I would imagine most of it to be true, but she has suffered the agony of cancer the agony of knowing she was going to die and leave her boys.I think she should be allowed to rest in peace.
