Children and fighting

by YUBComment Published at 19:2719:270 comments0 comments5 Visits5 VisitsReport

If you are unable to avoid fighting in front of the children (and lets face it, sometimes these things sneak up on you and you can't avoid them!!), you need to show the children the fight is over with a public hug and kiss, and then maybe spend some quality family time together watching TV or something! My children have been far less prone to acting up and nightmares since we've been SHOWING them we've made up, rather than just TELLING them!

The world of Yahero.

by YaheroComment Published at 22:5022:500 comments0 comments10 Visits10 VisitsReport

In an increasingly disconnected world, it’s easy for young children to lose sight of what’s important. The importance of family and God in their young lives has never been as important as it is in today’s ever changing landscape. A brave new virtual game, YAHERO, seeks to draw children into its allegorical world and teach them the importance of the Bible.  In an ever changing and evolving world, children are the most important part of our world’s future.  YAHERO will encourage children all around the globe to unite and face the challenges of the future together.

Take the video tour:

Cork Tiles

by janicepoveyComment Published at 22:0822:080 comments0 comments3 Visits3 VisitsReport

If you have cork tile flooring and want to keep them  looking good and give them a shine....once a month put a couple of cap fulls of Methylated Spirits in a bucket of warm water & mop  them.

Once dried they shine and this protects the cork tiles.

Teething Relief

by catt72Comment Published at 16:3116:310 comments0 comments26 Visits26 VisitsReport

If you have little ones who are teething and use a dummy, this can be a great teether depending on the style of dummy you use.

1. Carefully pull the plug out the end of dummy

2. Fill the teat with water

3. Replace the plug and place in the freezer until water is frozen

Your little ones will love it They can chew and suck on it and the coldness and rubbery texture will help provide a natural relief. Hope this helps it used to work a treat for my son.

Help! Mould on clothes

by kseersComment Published at 15:0715:073 comments3 comments28 Visits28 VisitsReport

Long story, but when I cleaned the kids room last week I made some yuk discoveries - largely involving mandarines left in the bedroom and gone mouldy - well, one of them was on a pair of shorts. I have washed the shorts several times - with hot washes and cold washes, but I cannot get the mould off - any ideas anyone?? It is little black circles on the leg of the shorts. If I can't get them off I'll have to bin them...

Making DUSTING a breeze . . :)

by KellzacarComment Published at 06:5206:528 comments8 comments51 Visits51 VisitsReport

Hi guys,

DUST - we all hate it, its everywhere !  ! ! !

Well I have a secret to share  . . . .  I barely have to dust in my home !  !  !

I am sure that most of you have heard of Anti-Static spray . . Its what you spray on your stockings to stop your skirt or dress from clinging to your legs . .  WELL this spray has another GREAT use ! ! ! I spay it on my shelves, window ledges, fake plants (yep i have fake ones), ornaments and everywhere else that you can think of!!

Its great stuff and has halved my dusting time . . . SO give it a go and make housework a little easier!!

Cheers Kellz

Brown stains on teaspoons

by KellzacarComment Published at 23:4223:4212 comments12 comments248 Visits248 VisitsReport

Hi guys,

Don't you hate it when you see your teaspoons looking all brown and stained . . I myself can't stand it and while visiting the other day S2 refused to use a teaspoon simply because she said it was 'yuk' . .

So here is a simple ant very easy method to clean em up . . . Lectric Soda  . . .

This stuff is found in your washing powder aisle and its only around $3 for 500g bag and this stuff is awesome . . Simply disolve a teaspoon of it in a cup of hotwater then add your teaspoons and leave to soak overnight on your sink . .  The next morning just wpe the softly and her presto sparkly new spoons . .

Other uses for Lectric Soda:

  • Its a GREAT water conditioner add a scoop to your washing for a fresher wash
  • Fantastic dissolved in your bath water . . Enjoy the soak as its like silk on your skin, pure heaven
  • Great for cleaning out stained and charred saucepans

Have some fun with lectric soda plus its 100% enviromentally friendly

ENJOY

Washing Detergent

by ph419alwaysComment Published at 00:1100:112 comments2 comments23 Visits23 VisitsReport

I must say I find dish washing detergent such a good "all-round" cleaner. It's excellent for cleaning floors - gets grime and stuck-on food off with relative ease, and cleans a whole range of other places well too. For floors and things I tend to mix in a bit of disinfectant as well just to make sure germs are good and dead (not usually recommended to mix cleaners, but these are the only ones I do and no harm has been done). I get the home-brand dishwashing liquid and the black and gold 2Lt disinfectant and away I go lol.

Why have sooooo many different cleaners - safe space and chemicals :)

KEEPING SLUGS OFF MY DAUGHTER'S STRAWBERRIES DONT USE POISON BAITS

by grizComment Published at 01:2001:203 comments3 comments475 Visits475 VisitsReport

My daughter has 6 strawberry plants and this is how we stop the slugs and snails eating them.

Save the ash from your winter fireplace, or barbeque. Put it thickly around the base of the plant. The little buggers cannot crawl on it and your strawberries are safe. No need to ever use poison baits.

Do this for any other plant that needs protection, eg.  lettuce, beans etc.

Make sure that there are none sneaking around underneath before you put the ash down or they won't be able to get out.

Save on ironing time . .

by KellzacarComment Published at 21:0421:046 comments6 comments32 Visits32 VisitsReport

Hi guys,

Ironing, don't you love it!! . . Oddly enough I actually do, its one of my favourite housework chores. Yep i know you all think I am mad but I really do like it and a few of my friends often tease me by threatening to bring thiers and if they did I wouldn't mind as long as the peg it out right . .

There are easy solution to making ironing a breeze, so here are some to help:

  • Keep your iron CLEAN .  I wipe mine after EVERY use and I also use a white vinegar rinse inside my iron before storing it away as this keeps those fantastic steam vents clean from residue
  • PEG you washing out carefully, seam to seam as much as possible as if you have a garment that is out of shape then peg it out as best you can even if that means using more poegs
  • Make sure you have one of those silver heat covers on your ironing board. They really work
  • Iron the front of your garment only . . . Lets face it the back only gets sit on and creased anyway. lol

So go on . . Learn to LOVE ironing . ..  I promise its not that bad!!

Cheers Kellz

The only way I can get my 18mnth old to stay still while drying and dressing him after bathtime, is to sing a song frm his favourite group (The Wiggles)  It makes him laugh (probably at my singing!!  lol!!) but he stays still.

by ajv00Comment Published at 00:3900:393 comments3 comments17 Visits17 VisitsReport

the only way I can brush my sons hair (15mths) is to sing a song.  You'll all know this

This is the way we brush our hair, brush our hair, bursh our hair

This is the way we brush our hair, early in the morning.

I sing this song for many other things like cleaning teeth.

Dinners

by ajv00Comment Published at 00:3600:362 comments2 comments14 Visits14 VisitsReport

The only way I can get my son to eat a decent meal is to make one dish and hid all the vegies.  EG:  Shepards pie or fried rice (my version).   If I make say meat and 3 vege then it is a struggle to get him to eat.
