Help for a friend

by missnickleyComment Published at 15:1615:163 comments3 comments29 Visits29 VisitsReport

My friend has a 5 week old and wants to buy a carrier. She mentioned she wants one like mine (which does front and back carrying)
I was wondering which you would prefer but also which you DO NOT recommend!
Also, do you think she should get a sling, a carrier, a hug -a- bub type thing? I lent her a sling but its abit too small for her, it doesnt adjust.

Suggestions please!

My carriers.

by missnickleyComment Published at 20:3320:332 comments2 comments14 Visits14 VisitsReport

Hi everyone!

I have 3 different carriers. My first one was a Jazsling. I love it, especially when they are really little. I also recently got a BabaSlings from a garage sale across the road. Its quite abit roomier so I can use it for hammocking Zara still where as the Jazsling is abit squishy.

I also have a front carrier comfy cruiser which I got from KMart one day when I was desperate for something to put Caitlin in when she was unsettled.

I dont know what I would have done without my carriers, it just settles bub right down and that was the only way I could get any housework done when my eldest was little! LOL!

I will have a look through my photos and upload them when I have a smidge more time!

I quite like my carriers. I was interested in the hug-a-bubs. Does anyone have one or an opinion on them?

Weird picture sorry!

I quite like the ring sling so far. Just got it this morning! Its a Zolo metroblack cotton with pocket. I got it near new for about $20 inc post so that's good. :D

I tried Av (3years2mths) in it too.

Hubby asks why you need so many carriers? Silly Q!!

What's a rebozo?

by mcmComment Published at 02:5302:531 comments1 comments11 Visits11 VisitsReport

Rebozo means "shawl" and in many cultures these shawls are used throughout a women's life:

"When we are born we spend several years slung to our mother's back in one. When we go to school we carry our books in it. When we go to market we carry our produce in it. When we are cold we wrap ourselves in it. When it rains we protect our hair with it. Then once we have our own children we sling them to our backs."

Many women and their partners are discovering the traditional wisdom of babywearing works well in their modern lifestyle. www.yayamama.com/babywearing.htm

I hand dyed a piece of calico  in purple and yellow, a while ago. I wasn't sure what to do with it but had a go with carrying J with it today rebozo style.

16 weeks. J wasn't very happy today. Not sure why, its not like him to cry. Maybe teeth?
