Help for a friend

by missnickleyComment Published at 15:1615:163 comments3 comments29 Visits29 VisitsReport

My friend has a 5 week old and wants to buy a carrier. She mentioned she wants one like mine (which does front and back carrying)
I was wondering which you would prefer but also which you DO NOT recommend!
Also, do you think she should get a sling, a carrier, a hug -a- bub type thing? I lent her a sling but its abit too small for her, it doesnt adjust.

Suggestions please!

Re: Help for a friend

I would reccomend a ring slig for shopping, short trips and that sort of thing.

an ergo for front back carrying, I use a mei tai and love it but i think you have to be really commited to babywearing to use one, it takes time to get used to the tying but is so worth it after a couple of goes, ergo is based on the mei tai but its got buckles and doesnt require any major coordination to put on haha

I wouldn't recommend snuglis or baby bjorn or any soft pouches, they hurt unless you have them tightened and worn perfectly, the baby hangs by its crotch which can cause hip problems and you can't wear them for too long because the baby gets too big and too heavy for them.

I recommend Ergo too. I used one with all my kids. Though you will have to buy a baby insert for it since the baby is just 5 weeks old. Ergo can be used for upwards of 40 lbs without backaches!

I love the mei tai with ties. If she prefers buckles the Ergo is simple.
