New blog feed feature :)

We have added the ability to have a partial or full RSS feed of your off-site blog appear in your Minti blog space.

Just take a look at the top of your personal Minti blog areae for the new option (in a green box) to add an external blog...

then enter your blog's RSS feed - choose Full text or Truncated text and submit.

To verify that you are the owner of the blog we ask that you enter some "code-words" into your external blog text in the next five days (a bit like confirming your blog ownership with Technorati only easier) and away you go :)

This is a great way to get more of your blog posts read by more people and to drive traffic to your own blog via the Minti membership base

Let us know what you think as it is a very new (today) addition to the site.

I have a blog on bebo but i don't visit there much - its still new. i rather blog on minti tbh.

you'd all get bored...

My "other" blog is all about work and rather dull things....I think I'll keep them seperate, and you don't even get a link, as there isn't a mention of Archie or Oscar at all, just a lot of academic waffle!

you need to put tracey.minti.com in the text of one of your blog posts.
our crawler will check your blog every 3 hours :)

OK...

I see that my blogs feed is working. That's cool. Do people know that it comes from another blog? WIll it up my readership on the external end? I'm just wondering if it's visible in my stats via something like sitemeter. I'm not readlly sure how all that works. Or does minti show up as a subscriber? ANy isights that might help me understand it better? Thanks!

At the top of the blog post it should say this blog post is from this external blog...

I just checked the text and it looks like Matt and I need to review it as it could be better than it is. The goal is to increase traffic to the external blogs.

We have no tracking... depending on what tracking software you use it should indicate if members are coming from the Minti domain.

P.S.

Just to be clear, will this then take the place of my minti blog??

Is there any drawback to this? I know it will create a big boost in readership for my blog but are you all willing to have our personal blogs posted her at Minti? I know a lot of parent bloggers that can be quite outspoke and fiesty (to put it mildly) so I'm just wondering. The Minti community is pretty nice and polite. Will this add an element that might be risky for you all. I don't know, I was just thinking. I think it's a great idea but I just wanted to put that thought out there.

You can still add blog entries to your Minti blog as per normal :)
