Hi, as already stated i'm new to minti and have recently become a single mum - not by choice but by circumstances. Was hoping for some advice and to make new friends.

I know it's scary

Hi just-me,

I was a single mum when I first found out I was pregnant. Mine was both by choice and by circumstances. My son's biological father was quite abusive, luckily I got out before I found out I was pregnant. When I did find out, I decided not to tell him as I didn't want to go down that path again. My son is the best thing in my life. I wouldn't swap him for the world. Luckily I had a very supportive family and we lived with them for the 1st 16months of Xavier's life. I now live with my fiancee who is great with Xavier. It's hard letting him discipline Xavier at times as they aren't related by birth, but we are getting there. The hardest thing I found with being single is getting time to yourself, but it is important to do.

It's not all bad....

i hear you just-me. I am also a single mum ( but by choice, not healthy circumstances) to a nearly 2yo boy. It can be hard at times but it's sooo worth every minute. I'm glad you've got your family network, cos I wouldn't know what I'd do without them or my mum's group. Chin up and msg me if you want to chat, vent or you just dun't know how you're feeling (I've had those kinda days!!)

Single mum
Im a single mum as well . .it can be tough but as long as you have lots of love for your baby everything will be okay!

I agree that you gotta get out of the house .. it can be a mind saver sometimes! And never be afraid to ask for help . .everyone needs it sometimes!!

And just remember. . you dont have to share as a single mum!

Hello

I have been raising my son for the past 19 months by myself also due to circumstances (you can see my blog) and now I may be doing it again (also refer to my personal blog). The one bit of advice I was given and has always rang true is to make sure that you get out of the house for at least an hour each day and to set aside half to a whole day per week where you can do something for yourself (eg getting a haircut, going to a friends). Whatever refreshes you and gives you a little boost. You said you have a supportive family so don't be afraid to ask for their help. Hope to talk to you again.

Introducing my self!

Hi just-me, I'm Sandi. I joined earlier this month, so I'm also bit of a newby. I'm a 27 yr old mother of 3. I've been with my partner for the last 8 yrs, but I'm no stranger to doing it all by myself. Being an at-home mum is great - but I know it can also be a bit isolating (& extremely exhausting!)  lol  Anyhow look forward to having others parents to chat to. Bye for now.
