Challenge for the Week...

by TheMentorMomComment Published at 09:2209:2210 comments10 comments89 Visits89 VisitsReport
Hey guys!

I'm feeling refreshed today and ready to take on the TAC for this week!  You see, my kids spent the weekend with Grandma and Grandpa (THANK YOU MOM AND DAD!).  I had time this weekend to take care of all those little chores that pile up, consume my brain power and get in the way of me being totally present with the kids.  Not to mention I've been able to catch up with my blogging and Minti time.

Jen and I had talked about maybe having a specific challenge each week that as a group we could try to tackle.  Here is my challenge for the week: to have a date night with one of the kids.  I used to do this more regularly but have fallen off the wagon.  I think I've blogged about this before, but my husband and I take turns taking the kids out on a date.  They each get a date once a month (when we are on track) with one of us.  The dates sometimes involve going to a movie, bowling, the mall or the library.  One of the favorites is a trip to the bookstore.  The car show is in town this week, so hubby is going to take the boy while I take the girl to go see Charlotte's Web.

So I challenge the rest of you to have a date with one of your kids this week.  Report back on your progress and the results!

yes yes yes
i'm all over this!

thanks for getting it started.

this is really one of my strengths--if i make the time, the best situation is if we go outside the house to spend time together.

Challenge for the Week...
OK.  I am up for it.

Ours is gonna be the ever enjoyable park - but at 4pm (when it is dark) and gonna take a picnic also.  Likely do this on friday so that we have not got an early morning the next day.

This is something I have been trying to find time for - but she keeps falling asleep - or I have!  lol.  Thanks TMM and Jen.  Shall report back when it is done - hopefully with pics too!!!
Peace

Date with the kids...
Yesterday my hubby took Camille to the movies...  Me we had a home date. Camille and I made a scrapbook together... As for Francis um well our date involved going to day care, but we do play a lot and there are many other children involved does that count?

Date with the kids...
Well done, Jess!  Sure, you can count the daycare experience as a date!  Remember too that a date can be as simple as playing playdough one on one with Francis.    I actually did this yesterday with my daughter.  We made a batch of cherry scented playdough using jello...what a blast we had!

Date with the kids...
LOL Playdoh... The thought of letting Francis play with that is a scary one at the moment.. I have been tempted to either make or buy some but I have a very strong feeling that the first thing he will do with it is eat it... LOL Or try and feed it to the dog..

But in the summer time I am really looking forward to buying that sand thing you mentioned some time back.. I will have to find it again.. I saw some on my trip in Melbourne and remembered you blogged about it..   I sooooo want to get that for me, um I mean him... LOL we would all have so much fun with it I think...

Date with the kids...
I hear you about him eating the play dough, Jess!  The nice thing about the homemade stuff is that it is safe if he eats it.  My experience has been that they try it once, but since there is so much salt in it, they aren't too inclined to try it again.  Although, I did make peanut butter playdough for a playgroup once...notice I said ONCE!  Instead of playing with it, they ate it!  Won't do that one again :)

You'll love the moon sand.  Just remember, it can be quite mess to clean up.  We have a ceramic tile floor in the kitchen and it loves to stick to the grout and the Roomba doesn't pick it up :(   Take care!
