My Recent Gifts

Poor abby9891 has no gifts, brighten up their day with a present.

Me and My Family

I am the mother of 4 incredibly smart, incredibly annoying children.  I guess all moms feel that way sometimes. Right?:) I am the manager of Lice Solutions Resource Network, Inc. in Nashville, TN. I love my job and take considerable happiness in helping familys with their head lice problems.

I have the best husband in the world. We started out rocky but have grown together with every step we have taken. He is a loveing father.

My Twins, Breeanna and Trinity, are something else...they are the funniest little girls I have ever met. They make me smile every day! They are identical but different in every way.

My oldest, Michayla, is my light. We found our way through so many learning processes for both her and me. Some times it was like stumbeling through the dark...I needed her and she needed me too. I was 16 when I became pregnant and 17 when I had her so I am sure you can understand why.

And "The Boy", Jacob, who has too much personality for his own good and is spoiled by his parents and his older sisters. For the life of me I will never think it is fair that we carry them for nine months and they end up looking just like dad!!

Our facility will be offering head checks- the week of July 30th thru August 3rd, from 9 AM to 5 PM Mon, Wed, & Fri. Tues & Thurs by appointment.

FREE OF CHARGE

To all children- prior to the start of school.

It’s imperative that all parents take advantage of this opportunity and have their child’s head checked.

NEW HEAD LICE FACILITY SET TO OPEN

NEAR DOWNTOWN NASHVILLE

*************************

Store-Front Venue is part of Growing Network

Dedicated to Providing Safe and Effective Methods to Deal with Head Lice

West Palm Beach, FL, (4/4/2007) -

people quiver with fear. Imagine how a child feels knowing that he or she

has them. Fortunately a non profit treatment facility (the only such

organization in the country) has set its sights on Nashville as its next

outpost and soon Nashville families will have access to the full spectrum of

services.

The Nashville location's grand opening is set for May 16th 2007 and the

address will be 604 Gallatin Ave. Suite 105 Nashville, TN 37206. To contact

Lice Solutions in Tennessee, call Abby Irwin (manager) at 615-227-3919.

Lice Solutions, which currently operates out of it's West Palm Beach, Florida headquarters, has long since fostered big plans to expand into other towns and cities across the country. According to Katie Shepherd, Executive Director, she and her board members are exploring an aggressive growth plan, as the need and benefits are so great.

"We treat hundreds of children every week at our South Florida location," said Shepherd. "Head Lice are a non-seasonal parasite- they are always there, no matter what time of year it is, or where kids may go to school or camp. Itching is one of the major signs of positive infestation, but some kids never itch, so head checks are critical to stop the cycle."

Shepherd founded Lice Solutions 10 years ago after a research project led her to realize that the problem was the lack of real help.

"We treat head lice cases, but we also educate individuals and families about how to avoid contracting the annoying pests and how to stop them from spreading." Shepherd said. "As a non profit agency, we're able to help all children regardless of their family's income," said Shepherd. "Our goal is to help kids enjoy their summers and enter school again in the fall, without worrying about head lice."

The new Nashville Lice Solutions venue will be run by Abby Irwin. Irwin was trained at the main West Palm Beach location and she is an expert at finding and treating head lice.

"Lice can have such a negative stigma and they are a major cause of absenteeism. There is no reason why this should continue and I look forward to helping families in the Nashville area fight head lice."

Along with its lice treatment services, the non profit Lice Solutions will offer a host of programs designed to fight lice including school education programs and free head checks at the beginning of the school year.

Lice Solutions RN's goal is to provide with safe and effective means for dealing with head lice. Their goal is to better educate parents in ways to prevent the spread of head lice in hopes of minimizing the ever-growing number of cases. Lice Solutions RN also strives to promote a better understanding of head lice to effectively help end the negative stigma associated with head lice. While the majority of head lice cases are in school-age children, the pests are a time-consuming and potentially costly problem for both sexes, all ages, ethnic and economical backgrounds. Shakira had head lice too

Comment Published at 10:2110:210 comments0 comments35 Visits35 VisitsReport
Shakira: "I had lice" .. Hora y categories post -->

11:29 H | Topics: Celebrities - Children - Health

17207.jpgIn celebrity gossip of the weird variety, Colombiana superstar Shakira says she had lice when she was a kid, and in a recent event in Barranquilla for her non-profit, Fundación Pies Descalzos, she comforted a little girl who had them by giving her a hug and telling her own story with the little creatures:

The singer showed empathy with a little girl that had lice.

When Shakira went to hug her and take a photo with her, another little girl accused her classmate of having head lice.

Even the school principal, alarmed at the possibility of the little girl giving the singer lice wanted to take the girl out of Shakira's arms.

Shakira wouldn't allow it. "It's natural, you don't have to be ashamed," she told the girl, according to radio show America Showbiz. The singer then confessed that she also had lice as a child and that her mom sprayed her head with insecticide to kill them. "Don't do that please. Today there are pills that will get rid of them right away," she advised.

Now I feel all itchy. The lesson to be learned: even celebrities have parasites.

Head lice oil burn horror

Hair oil burns horror

A TEENAGER suffered horrific burns when he accidentally set fire to his hair after using a new head lice lotion.

Fifteen-year-old Matthew Moore's mother Lesley applied the lotion at their home in Purbeck.

Matthew then went to his room and played with a cigarette lighter, which ignited his hair and resulted in severe burns to his face, ears, neck and arms.

Mrs Moore said: "He was holding the lighter at arm's length and it must have caught his fringe. The instructions on the packaging for the lotion said nothing about it being flammable."

Fire services and paramedics were quickly on the scene.

Matthew was transferred to the burns unit of Salisbury Hospital.

Doctors are still waiting for the swelling to subside but fear he will have to undergo multiple skin grafts.

"The fire brigade said he was lucky he was wearing his glasses," said Mrs Moore.

"If he hadn't been, he could have lost his sight."

The fire service took away the lotion following the incident on April 10 and ran tests on it.

Poole fire station manager Keith Barnes said: "The lotion contains an agent that could be combustible.

"We have contacted the manufacturers and asked them to think about altering their labelling to make this known."

The agent is silicon-based and can also be found in cosmetics products.

Mr Barnes said: "The general public should be aware that cosmetics and hair care products can contain this type of chemical, and that after applying them they should stay away from any kind of naked flame."

Hedrin is a new lotion that can be bought over the counter and has been touted as an advanced alternative to traditional lotions.

It is virtually odourless and is said to suffocate lice rather than kill them with pesticide.

The lotion's manufacturer, Huddersfield-based Thornton and Ross Ltd, released a statement saying that Hedrin would not be classified as hazardous on any regulatory scale, as it has a flash point of 77C.

Chemical materials are only considered flammable if they have a flash point under 55C, and as a licensed medicine Hedrin is exempt from these regulations in any case.

The statement also said: "All the company's products are labelled in accordance with all appropriate legal requirements, and we do not believe there is any issue with the labelling of Hedrin.

"As a licensed medicine the labelling is also assessed by the Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Authority.

"We are concerned about the incident and would invite the customer to contact us directly so we can carry out a full investigation."
