Hope you all can help

This is a question that I am not putting in Q & A 'cause I don't think it is a parenting Q

Anyway one of the mothers from my mother's group has a friend who sews baby stuff eg, sleeping bags and wraps etc...  anyway I got some sleeping bags made up for my son and got them delivered today.

The problem is that they are the wrong size.  When I rang her up I said I would like them for my son who is 5 mths old size 0 - 1 she said no problem.  When I looked at them today and paid for them I thought they were ok but they are not the right size.  I measured them up agained a size 00 that I have and it is about that size or smaller

What to do?  Do I ring her or email her and tell her.  I really hate doing things like this 'I get to embarrased/shy and don't want to hurt the other person.   I could sell them on ebay and get some more elsewhere LOL but I guess that wouldn't be right.  I know in my head that I have to let her know maybe she could sell these ones to someone else that puts an order through.

Oh, I just don't like have to tell her I get nervous etc...  but it has gotta be done right?

I would like to bet their is another Mum, with size 0-1, thinking exactly the same as you. It happens, this lady is a business woman, and if a mistake has occured she should be more than happy to resolve it. Dont worry, if she is not into looking after her customers then she will not be in business for long. Word of mouth is a powerful thing. She probably sells her stuff on e-bay any way and might recognise her sleepbags. Ooh then the embarassment. Keep smiling, be honest and forgiving and she will come through for you, I'm sure.

Oh you poor thing. I am not good with things like this either. There is a problem with ebaying them is one day she will ask to see them to show another mum or something!
No, seriously though, you do have to tell her, just do like what Nat says and I am sure it will be fine, now its just finding hte courage!
good luck!

look if she is a business woman then I am sure she'd understand...  You could say they were the wrong size, see what she says... Then sell them on ebay and ask her to make some more or give them back to her so she could sell them to someone else and give you credit for the new ones..

But seriously if she is doing this for a business she would want to please her customers...

hi hunni. look im sure if you did a " oh sorry i think you have made a lil mistake" ph call with a bit of humour involved to ease embarrassment, im sure she would understand and be more then willing to fix the situation up for you. just try to keep the convo light and without accusations  and im sure it will turn out fine.
hope it goes ok for you.

I'm sure she will understand just the thought of having to tell her, I let you know tomorrow how I go.

Thanks for the help

LOL.  Um, if you had bought it from a store, would you take it back?  I would!  Take it back to her and tell her that you had asked for the next size up!  If she is doing this sewing as a little business, then it is her responsibility to right the wrong.  If her patterns are wrong, then she needs to look at where they were made.  I believe the USA has a totally different sizing system to us when it comes to baby clothes.  I think there's starts at O, as in 000 in Australia!  That could be where things went wrong.

Thanks for the comment Arna,

Your right if I had bought it at the shop I would take it back, so it would pay to give her a ring.
