All BLOCKS are gone....

Comment Published at 18:5718:5714 comments14 comments33 Visits33 VisitsReport

Yes!, that's right all the blocks are gone.  I am sick to death of my son continually throwing them around and not caring whether it will go through the glass window or hit one of us.

He loves to play with his blocks he will crawl with one in each hand and make a huge loud noise, he loves to stack them up and knock them over, but the one thing he loves to do is throw them about  ARGH!!!!!

I understand that he probably does not understand at this young stage of his life, I get that, I really do.   But for the past week or so I have been walking away from his behaviour and ingoring it with out any improvement......

So, today I got all the blocks and put them in a box, and put them away.    He may get them back on the W/end, he may get them back on tuesday.  It really just depends on how I feel and if he is playing with his other toy well or not....

So Good bye blocks!!!  May they RIP for the time being!

ahhh poor little kiddies!!!  They are just doing what's fun!! And it is fun to see them go,not fun if they break or hit stuff. So cute but this stage will pass too! Good luck with all the things that little ones can challenge you with!

Re: All BLOCKS are gone....

I did the same thing. With the megalego things. She was just driving me nuts, throwing them everywehre and chucking a temper tantrum every time I tried to put them away. OR if she found them in the bag, not on the floor, temper tantrums all over again.
Caitlins have been away for a few weeks now, but she is playing great with her other toys and doesnt even appear to be missing htem. Strange!

Good on you for making a stand... However, do try to re-introduce a few at a time, and let him play with them until they are thrown.  The time between should get longer and longer as he starts to see the pattern.  Our wee man knows what it is like to lose something treasured for A WHOLE DAY... It isn't pleasant, and it means he learns from it, and you get a safer (happier) environment.

Re: All BLOCKS are gone....

Thanks Lui, Good idea I will introduce slowly and see how he goes.  Tonight found a block I had missed it nearly went through the glass door.  It is now in the box with an explanation as to why!

Re: All BLOCKS are gone....

You do realise he will just find something else to throw.  My study room actually has more of my girls stuff in there than mine now because we take toys to the naughty box.

Ah Cass, I am afraid to say that H has one of those balls he loves it and does throw it to.  If he throws anymore of his toys then in to the box it will go.  And like cath said he will have no more toys left  Hahaha hee hee hee

Re: All BLOCKS are gone....

Ha ha ha. We actually have a box of toys that Austin cant get to. I pack them up each night into the box and get out different toys for him the next day. If i am too slow in the morning, he just goes for whatever he can reach.. Including remote controls, my camera, even the tv speakers (whick i cant hang up!!) If he cant reach anything and doesnt think of the speakers, he just goes thru the nappy bag!!! Cheeky monkey!

Good luck with it. I hope he learns quicker than Austin LOL

PMSL you crack me up! Austin does that with ALL of his toys! He thinks it is funny. Have you tried getting him a big ball, like the one with grips on them, you get them from big w. Austin loves that. He can throw it and it doesnt do any damage (YAY for me)

Re: All BLOCKS are gone....

I understand.. I did that with the play dough...  And some cars, and some of this and some of that... :)

Totally understand... No for somethings I only bring them out on occasions and put them straight back when they are not played with the way they are supposed to.. But he is a little older now so it is not so bad...

Thanks Jess,

I will continue to take off him if he continues to throw them about.  I am sure he will find something else.

Re: All BLOCKS are gone....

pmsl. ive done that before! Ive had all the toys packed up sometimes.

If they threw it, they'd lose it lol, so there wasn't many left in the end. A good break and they came back. Got packed a few more times too!

Oh how I long for the days of no toys lol.... it was in sight for a little while too but then the younger three will want them now for ages.
