We're a step-family of 5 living in Brisbane, Australia. I have two daughters - aged 13 and 10, from my previous marriage, and am now married to an amazing man  , with whom I have another daughter - born in April 08. We also have a sponsor child in the Dominican Republic, a 12 year old boy, through Compassion.
I am a supremely happy-stay-at-home mum  (that is, supremely happy to stay at home, if not supremely happy with ALL the little aspects of the job - read severely sleep-deprived!  ) I've both home educated and sent my older two daughters to school over the past 4 years. ( Home education is a challenging and socially-frowned upon choice I know, but it's also got so many positives and BOY it's rewarding!) Currently i have the oldest going back to school (for high-school) next year, and my 10 year old staying on with the home-thing. Baby is happy to stay at home too, lol.
(My DH, who'd like at least another 5 or 6 babies!! - says he'd also love for them all to be home-educated.... )
I've had an array of occupations both before and after having children: Snack bar Attendant, Cafe Waitress, Fashion Sales Assistant, Uni Student (lol), Promotional and Commercial Model, Avon Rep, Shop Assistant, Secretary and Admin Assistant, and Plant Nursery worker. I've even cleaned a friend's house while I was a single parent to earn a bit more cash for Christmas! But I like being a mama the best!
We are really into organic whole foods, reducing our carbon footprint, taking walks by the bay (200m from our front door - so nice to wander down on a hot, steamy afternoon to cool off in the breeze!), eating Kalamata Olives, reading books and watching cool family dvd's. (I am currently addicted to Disney/Pixar's "Cars" - am I wierd or does anyone else want to live in Radiator |
