1st of may hey where ha the year gone?

whilst in rhe northern hemisphere they are seeing spring and awaiting summer . the southern hemisphere like myself are seeing the last month of autumn and the last of the warmth and preparing for winter.

it will be our turn with colds and flus so here we go again.

but to each and everyone out there life is tough. when the road is rough  and all looks lost  just remember there is always minti to offload.

regardless of our circumstances we all have to get from a to b and sometimes we need to take smaller steps to get there. it might take longer but we still get there at the end. so when we are overwhelmed by it all dont give up.

tomorrow is mayday the first of may

whilst in australia we tend not to celebrate the day it is widely celebrated in europe

according to the wikipedia (sorry i dont know how to do the link) mayday represents different celebrations in  ancient times it was more associated with  religion. in modern times it has become work related "labour day"  even celebrating the end of the cold weather im the northern hemisphere .

mayday being a cross-quarter day, meaning that it falls approximately halfway between a solstice and a equinox  (that i quote from wikipedia source)

if anyone out there can explain that better to me i would appreciate it.

i have always been fascinated what mayday really means when i was a young girl because my birthday is on 2nd of may. i always thought how "great " it would have been on "mayday" i think it just had a nice ring to it

so i throw it open out there to you especially all you minti members from england  to tell me "how you celebrate the day"

what a blooper according to ninemsn  headlines today is friday 2nd may

i cant get into optus account to email because its under my sons account and i dont know password

why i noticed? because friday is my birthday  and i was so sure today is monday april 28th!!!!!!!

i just need some advice where i can buy some new  baby clothes or cot doonas or teddies that are on sale but as its a present i want them not to be shop brand like kmart ect

i live in melb south east chaddy is close to me. asking if anyone knows sales or discounted like warehouse but i need to purchase within one week

if anyone can actually tell me the shop that has sales and what item its greatly appreciated. its for my neice who gave birth to her first. i  am finding it hard paying full price because ive had 3 great neices and  1  nephew all in one year and i have the christenings yet not to mention weddings from friends and other relatives

we are a  large family and  i also dont have time to look around as im always working so any help and suggestions help

i actually get to pick it up this friday 2nd of may its silver and its the mazda 3 neo sports

i actually wanted to down size because the children now both drive their own cars

i am so excited for those who already know my  car at the moment is literally on its last legs .

why is it that when you get your hair done you feel so good? i had retouchon my foils trimmed and styled straight. i hadnt had my hair done since december whenwe had our work christmas party

i was far too busy to do. but i absolutely feel great when i have it done and my face evens looks great i seem to be smiling more than usual with that hairsyle.

if only we had our own personnal hairdresser everyday how great would that be !

just finished baking "tsourekia" for the greek easter a lot of love and tender care its just like babies. we had to wait for the yeast and flour dough after  it was kneaded to "expand" it needed heat and we covered them in sheets and blankets and checked evry so often

we made 20 all up between the two of us. i normally would buy them because i usually work but this year i took the day off and set it aside just to bake them

i feel so good doing it. people were telling me why go through the fuss when you can buy them. but this way i know what ingredients go in them and besides i feel as if i have achieved something

not only that but when i give them out to friends and family i know i baked them with lots of love.

yeah my building company have finally come to the party no "patch up jobs" they have taken it serious enough to hire scaffolding ive taken the day off as the workers need access to the house. they have put in "flashing" and filled up gaps that sould have been filled when the house got built

when we had brought it to "their attention" the first time  their maintenance did a "patch up job" they have nhad new staff in and the manager overseeing this  was keen to get in contractors that could do the job properly

only time will tell but what i can see and what he has explained what he has done so far the job is excellent

we shouldnt get any more rain in the front door and frame wll get fixed next monday

its a relief because

this is "our dream home" we had knocked down our old weatherboard home ( and i must admit if i would do it again i would keep the old house and extend)

yeah carlton won 2nd week in a row.!!! i have waited so long for this.

i used to go to a lot of matches i dont mind losing if its a close game but carlton seem to think there are only 3 quarters.

they have lost do many games because of the last quarter it just wasnt funny anymore.

finally they are starting to pick up their game

go the blues and to all my other carlton supporters lets hope they keep putting in the effort til the end

i wrote in my previous blog a little bit about anzac day

anzac actaully stands for australia and new zealand   army corps . it was the first major war that australia fought in and its to commerate  the first world war at gallipolli australia actually lost more than 8000 soldiers

australia had ony formed as a commonwealth for only about 14 years . they formed forces with new zealand. the plan was to take  constantinople which is now istanbul.

they were defeated in the plan and a lot of soldiers had "fallen" on the shores of gallipolli

its a major  national day in australia and the last of the survivors have just recently passed away

their families and other war veterans "take part in the march" for the brave "diggers"

its a short week  for us here is australia friday 25th of april is ANZAC DAY and this year coincides with our ORTHODOX GOOD FRIDAY

on tuesday i have taken the day off i will be going to my sister in laws place to do some baking for easter.

we are making "tsourekia " for those that have never eaten them before they are yummy they are available at cake shops. i know people say you shouldnt "dip " but this is nice dipped in your coffee or milk

i have never baked them before i have always bought them for convenience but every year i have painted my " red eggs" except the year my dad passed away.  it was a personal choice not to i didnt feel up to it.

friday we go to mass for the "epitaph" and our church still walks around the streets with us parisheners following with lit candles

saturday night we have mass and just before midnight the priest steps out of the church to the church yard and continues the service in the dark with us parishiners following. when midnight approaches the priest gets the "first light" and the parisheners then light their candles to chanting of "the rising of christ"

we then bring the light home in a lantern  and light a candle at home

we are going to mums for easter and then to our "sibetheri" which is my sons fiance s  parents

my husbands mum lives overseas

friday morn will be the ANZAC MARCH which is a tradition in australia  its for "our fallen soldiers"

the march is actually taken place at dawn  and its a sign of respect for those who fought for our country

groups on the top right no longer appears. unfortunately i used to go there constantly and know immediately into which groups i belonged to

i dont mean to be difficult but was this an oversight ? or was it intentional?

is it possible to have it added there again for convenience? what do others think?

hey guys the concert was awesome. i watched duran duran perform . there were four stages so there was overlapping occuring but i still got to see the tail end of the smashing pumpkins .

wow i cant even begin to imagine what woodstock was like !!!

duran duran came on at 7.30pm melbourne time and being outdoors it was just spectacular. the coloured lights on stage the music . there were 2 big screens on either side for close ups

wow i needed this . i havent had  agood week so this has lifted my spirits so glad i was given the opportunity through work

there were between 17000 to 20000 i believe the crowd was slightly less to sydney . the festival is also being held in perth and the cold coast . if any one gets a chance i highly recommend it if not there is always next year

hi guys im so excited. i was given the opportunity through work to go to the v concert. for those that arent aware what it is its a "rock concert" with lots of local australian talent . there will be lots of bands from the 80s

why am i excited? the last one i went to was about 2 or 3 years ago when my son took me to see rod stewart(my hubby cant stand rod stewart)

i will be working for the first 2 or 3 hours then we are free to "enjoy the music"

i have been given a "pep talk" from both of my boys

first son advised me not to leave my drink down  to avoid "spiking"

the other son advised me to be careful of my "valuables " because with a large crowd theres a risk of "stealing"

looks like all that advice years ago "paid off' the boys certainly were paying attention to all their pep talks

oh by the way im a young 50 the boys are now 25 and 27

i will all let you know tonight how i enjoyed it .

but i jumped at the opportunity when it was offered to me the other 7 of our girls are youngies but we get along fine
