wow chadstone a nightmare! lucky though i found a spot.............

by anniebabeComment Published at 00:2700:2712 comments12 comments20 Visits20 VisitsReport

wow chadstone ( a large shopping complex in aust first shopping centre to be built in australia actually in the 1960s )was a nightmare the carpark was chockers with cars just driving around and around.

but luckily as i drove towards the back there was an empty spot. by the time i parked about 5 cars seperately waited thinking i was leaving.

went into myer (large dept store for those living outside australia ) sales everywhere . but i had a mission to buy the oldest shirts and trousers for his birthday (we gave him runners last night)

i ended up buying 5 shirts i had systematically written the sizes and brands of his favourite shirts and trousers.

trousers unfortunately i didnt buy any as he already had the ones there and i wasnt sure of the other brands

but shirts  were on a table packaged and you had to sift through the sizes. the size my son wore must be a popular size because i struggled to find any in that size. they were either one size smaller or one size bigger

asisstants couldnt help me they were so busy helping other shoppers it was mayhem . at the end i was able to buy 2 different brands and the sizes were different so i had to make sure they were what i had written from home and my son wears the european cut style so that even restricted me further

but two of the shirts origionally were eighty nine dollasr each reduced to sixty dollars with a further 25% off

2 others reduced  to thirty dollars and  the other to thirty seven dollars and fifty cents

all up i paid just under one hundred and ninety dollars for 5 shirts of well known brands van huesen (vn) and brooksfield

usually my son only comes home with two shirts. paying the full price

but the best bargain of the day was picking up a cushion pandora brand from target origional price twenty nine dollars and ninety nine cents reduced to two dollars and eighty six cents yes you heard right and i scanned it to make sure that noone put the wrong code sticker on and there was a further 25% off all bed linen so it came to two dollars and fifteen cents

cant even buy a coffee at that price! it has even got a zip for washing and its got embroidery .

it wont get very dirty because its more for looks on the bed . it was the only one!!! otherwise i would have bought the lot!

now i know the government is encouraging us not to spend at the sales  to keep interest rates down but they up the interests rates anyway and i only buy what i need on sales and if you can save in the long run why not

of course there are lots off things that i end up paying full price down the track because at the same time i dont want to spend thousands when the sales are on.

i always ask myself do i really need this before i purchase it. i dont want clutter unnecessarily

i finally got out of chaddy (chadstone ) and about 5 cars were waiting in the aisle to pounce for the spot. its not helping that they are expanding because parking is a problem at the best of times.

im just glad im home resting my poor aching feet

the european cup  finally down to the two  germany versus spain

for those that wernt aware of it in the early hour os this morn aust time spain downed russia and yesterday morn germany downed turkey

i think that turkey and russia also play off for 3rd and 4th position

turkey played well and only lost the match 2 minutes to the end germany had  a little luck on their side but its the end result that counts and turkey are pleased because the world has sat up and taken  notice of their team

may the best team win

friday 27th of june at 10.07 am flashback 1980.......................

by anniebabeComment Published at 06:2006:2015 comments15 comments29 Visits29 VisitsReport

friday 27th of june 19980 at 10.07 am i became a mum for the first time .

yes thats right turn the clock back 28years. it was a friday too and for those that were old enough to remember thursday 26th of june 1980 was a train strike in victoria . how do i remember that? because my hubby was driving to work in blackburn that morning. we had been married for 9 months and hubby had only been in the country for 8 months.

he was driving my very first car which was a ford cortina two door 1969 model spray painted a metallic blue with a silver line (metallic was a new concept then) manual anyway through no fault of his own this car at the traffic lights in the opposite direction makes a right hand turn(hubby was going straight) she slammed into the car .

her excuse was that there was a truck along side her and she couldnt see but she proceeded to make the turn anyway go figure! anyway it was close to home hubby rang me from a pay phone. no mobiles in those days. i came down and the police wanted us to come to the station at our leisure to give statement.

the other driver was charged with failing to give way to the right but oh the inconvenience it caused. that was our one and only car and it was in for repairs. she didnt have insurance so she was paying us slowly on a monthly basis. she was from new zealand and she thought insurance was covered with car rego.

anyway remember it was a train strike so when we went to police station we walked. hubby wanted us to catch a cab but we had just bought our house and the car was in repairs and i was stressing so much knowing she had no insurance , so i wanted to walk to the police station to save the cab fare

is this madness. i was already nine days overdue and i was due to go to my gyno in the city the next day anyway so she could induce me for the weekend if he wasnt born.

anyway apparently that work must have helped bring on the labour because that night i was ironing (funny thing that i had the urge to iron and that also happened 2 years later when i was ready to give birth to  our second son)

we had to call my brotherin law(my sisters hubby) to drive us into the city to the hospital it was 10pm thursday night.

hubby hated the smell of hospitals so it was a great effort for him. anyway hubby was told to go home and come back i morning. poor hubby had to train it . in the morning my gyno decided to break my waters as i was getting contractions but not much else.

i was given a gas mask but (i prbably wasnt breathing through it properly) but i didnt want it . it made me sick  i had to have an epidural something i hadnt even contemplated on and my legs were put into stirrups as i had a forceps birth.

at one stage my stirrup came undone and i tried to do something there im not even sure what i was trying to do (its funny what different people do during birth) but i remember my gyno pushing my hand away saying i cant touch because my hands wernt sterilised.

anyway then the miracle happened i heard my baby cry and i was handed him to me.

i stayed in hospital for about 10 days all up. i went in on the thursday night and left monday 7th of july.  i did endure stitches but there was a nurse that had given birth and i took her advice and was having salt baths. speedier recovery .

poor hubby was working in the northern suburbs and he would have to train it (he worked all over melbourne at the time) then he would visit me in hospital in the city and the train it again for home in the south east suburbs

those were the days we actually ended up buying our monaro LS  which was also a two door but that was 8 cylinder. very poweful cars

so the alarm on my mobile will be set for 10.07 am and i will reflect. over the years my son (he knows he is born at 10.07am) he also looks at the clock at that time. my youngest was born at 5.25am  but his story will come on the eve of his birthday

i really cant believe that it has been 28 years .

action is warming up only 4 left..............................

by anniebabeComment Published at 15:4515:454 comments4 comments13 Visits13 VisitsReport

action is warming up. only 4 left!. germany now will play turkey  and spain will play russia. (italy lost to spain this morning aust timeon penalties)

so of course the two winners of these two matches go on to paly the finals and the 2 losers will play off for 3rd position.

spain finally got through to semi finals that some people have believed they have been jinxed in the past .

may the best team win the european cup. germainy are the favourites followed by spain

just a little trivia today june 21st is the shortest day in the southern hemisphere from now on.................

by anniebabeComment Published at 04:0804:082 comments2 comments12 Visits12 VisitsReport

just a little trivia

today is the shortest day as of tomorrow we get an extra minute of daylight each day!!! doesnt sound much but we are slowly inching our way back to spring and summer.

so whilst it might be cold and flu season about at least we can optimistically look forward to something.

i guess i try to see "the glass half full "" instead of "half empty"

shortest day always occurs on june 21st for the southern hemisphere.

enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone regardless of what you have planned or unplanned

australia 3 qatar 1 syep closer to qualifying...........

by anniebabeComment Published at 14:4814:487 comments7 comments21 Visits21 VisitsReport

australia beat qatar 3 /1 in football(soccer) a step closer in qualifying for asian world cup.

world cup is totally different to euroean cup . its so exciting emerton scored two and my favourite kewell scored one.

australia have come a long way in football(soccer) over the years with a lot of our players from australia playing seasonal football for a lot of english priemier league teams.

football (soccer) is starting to get the recognition it deserves in australia . well done to the socceroos they have made us proud

SETANTA SPORT/ greece versus russia / european championships of course!!!

by anniebabeComment Published at 12:0612:066 comments6 comments49 Visits49 VisitsReport

hi everyone

yeah its almost 5am in melbourne australia. what am i doing!!

watching football(soccer ) of course

i woke at 3.30am as my boys had set alarm to watch greece versus russia. yeah plasma screen not good enough here they have to have the atmosphere so they have gone to a bar to watch it on the big screen with a group of other australian/greek fans

we saw the tail end of spain versus sweden and spain won 2 /1 looks like spain has definately got to the next set of finals. in each group of four the top two advance.

once im awake very hard for me t go back to bed so voila here i am on minti.

i wanted to hit the markets and garage sales so lets hope i will have enough energy and strength to see me through the day.

my ironing board just went on me so i dont fancy spending all that money on a new one so who knows what i might find?

im not in a hurry i can iron on flat surface til one becomes available

although here in melbourne we also have end of financial year sales or stock take sale as they are called so who knows but im biding my time.

im more cautious with spending money left right and centre.otherwise you end up with so much clutter.

have a good morning/ night wherever you are around the world and if your lucky to be in summer enjoy it!

hubby on the mend

by anniebabeComment Published at 23:0623:068 comments8 comments18 Visits18 VisitsReport

hubby is on the mend . he was working away. came back friday for long w/e also had tuesday (today) off.

unfortunately he wasnt going to be spared the virus. i had him sick from saturday til monday.

it was hard getting him to be the perfect patient  finally got him to eat the boiled rice . he wanted the home made meals i was preparing for the boys and myself.

im just gald that i wasnt working. this made thngs a lot easier. today he cut the grass front and back. i helped sweep up.

thats his domain . i dont mind as i have enough to do in house. i made a lasagna for tonight caught up on all the ironing and washing.  including hand washing

just taking it easy and relaxing as tomorow is work .

hope all are having a good day

OH IM NOT USED TO DOING NOTHING

by anniebabeComment Published at 21:3021:3016 comments16 comments34 Visits34 VisitsReport

im not used to "doing nothing" i have stomach bug and cant go to work doctor said plent of rest !!!

well its easier said than done i was lying down watching old sophia loren movies but after that i jaust had to "get up"

ii made myself boiled rice and had black tea i really dont feel like much and although the vomiting appears to have stopped the diarrhoeia has flared up again.

i have just hung up a load of washing under the bogola  and just put the second load on.

i was actually lucky when i went to the doctors this morning. at 8am its normally packed especially after the weekend but noone was waiting. its a battle if you dont have an appointment because your suppose to but i got sick saturday night and the clinic opens monday 8am

so luckily there wasnt a problem this time. normally there is a dilemma do i wait til they open to make an appointment only to be told that the doctor cant see you today so like anything these days you have to take a gamble.

i had to drive myself to the docs because hubby is working in the country he wont be home til thursday

my tummy is still unsettled can hear it rumbling away . im still looking pale.

better go and "force myself" to ly down a little
