Anthony and Daddy

i am a 23 year old mum of a very active 18 month old boy who loves getting into mischief. my partner works long hours and the rest of my family live interstate. (i live in Perth Western Australia) I am really enjoying being a parent. I am really looking forward to trying to make another addition to our little brood.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              I have returned to work and love that as well. (Most of the time )  Some hobbies of mine when I get a chance are scrap booking, cooking, and hanging out with friends.

So shocked

Comment Published at 21:3121:3116 comments16 comments41 Visits41 VisitsReport

Well last night I burst into tears and told Shayne I quit and OMG, he was fine with it. He said good, I was pretty ****** of at them the other night if you couldn't tell. (talking about my Tuesday night). Then I put out the idea of the "child swap" thingy but he wasn't up for it, but instead would rather child care. His reason being They are trained to deal with emergency situations. And a parent would have no idea what to do? But in the meantime he would rather I took some time to sort myself out and think about what I really want to do. At the moment, I would rather go back to school then work and get some kind of a qualification in a career I would enjoy. I just figure it would be better off for me to return to the workforce in something I really want to do rather than what I "can do" because of lack of qualifications. I mean you are more likely to stick it out if you enjoy the work. Now I just need to figure out What I want to do. I thought about vetrenarian nurse, but I don't know how I would go with having to put animals down or not being able to save an animal. But I like the idea of working with animals. I need to do some research first too tho' being a highschool dropout I don't know weather I can get into the courses I need too. Hmmmm too many choices.Shayne thinks I would be good working with the elderly but they die too. And with my personality I wouldn't be able to stay carer/patient I always try to connect with ppl on a personnel level. I also don't like the idea of being cooped up in an office. I need the freedom to roam about. I like to be outdoors rather than in. I would also like to be able to have the oppurtuinty to show some creativity. I like photography but once again with Shaynes influence, he thinks it's not a "real career". Hmmm will be a long time in the thinking I think! Well thats about it for now. Just wanted to let everyone know how Shayne went with the news. Hope evryone is having a good weekend.

luv Karen. xx.

I QUIT I QUIT I QUIT! YAYYYY!!!!

Comment Published at 22:5222:528 comments8 comments24 Visits24 VisitsReport

I finally did it. I quit work. My manager rang me today asking if there was anyway I could possibly start 2 hrs earlier making a 4 pm start. I just can't do it. Shayne doesn't get home til 5  on the nights I work and even later on the days i'm not plus he is having to go in on Saturdays at the moment. Then suggested maybe working weekends. Geez do you just want to take away what little "family" time we get together. It is ridiculous. Her reason being labour module (A part of the stupid program called accelerator) which says how many hours a day she has to spread out between staff. It basically means someone is on their own from 4pm - 6 pm on the days I work. Never mind I am on my own from 6pm - midnight. Umm hello. Where is the fairness. Then she went on to complain at me at how poorly I performed on Tuesday night because my customer count wasn't high enough to not get stuff done. I am not allowed to leave the console area when I am on my own if there is some one in the store and fair enough, but how do I get stuff done when you have ppl wondering around for 30mins deciding what they want. I just told her I can't work under these conditions it wasn't fair and ifthat is what is expected of me then i would have to resign. I didn't blame her and expressed my understnding of how frustrating it must be to loose all your staff because your hands are tied on how many ppl work when and what they are "assigned" to do. It is really this accelerator program. I feel sorry for her. She also turned around and said if I go for another job she would be more than happy to write me a really good reference letter. She also understands my situation with Anthony and not having the option of working days etc etc because she has been there and done that herself and is still struggling with her own personnel issues. Now i just have to tell Shayne. My last shift will be the Friday 18 of July. I am pretty proud of myself though. I nearly stuck it out for a year. It's been a long and hard road but it's now a dead end and I need to find a new path. YAy yay yay!
