Happy, Happy, Happy!

This post is from from my other blog here

I think my title says it all - I AM HAPPY!

As the end of the financial year has just passed, and our tax refunds have been paid, it was down to some serious considerations into getting a dryer for me and a dishwasher for Les.

Why?  Because our clothes line only gets sun for about 2 hours in the morning and none for the rest of the day and we are sick and tired of the girls being able to push dishes of the bench.

We went hunting at Redford’s Betta Electrical, where we have previously bought appliances from (our washing machine ...

Re: Happy, Happy, Happy!

I was going to get one of those racks, but we don't have the space for one.  Not only that, but our girls would tip it over super quick.

Our baby doesn't add too much to the washing, but when you have 5 kids, it doubles over night! LOL

Re: Happy, Happy, Happy!

At least you wont have to worry about bringing the clothes in and out in and out again from the rain.

I hardly use my clothes dryer. im fortunate enough to have  2 lines under my bagola. Its easier too . When i leave for work i dont have to keep calling for the clothes to be brought in.

I prefer to bring in the washing because i wrap as i go and it certainly cuts my ironing down. Otherwise its brought in alright all in one bundle!!!

steam mops are great! Especially on tiles and large floor area . It doesnt leave streaks either! They are not very expensive either. I certainly couldnt do without my dishwasher but i do a quick rinse before stacking. On my days off from work i dont mind washing the dishes myself though.

love annie

Re: Happy, Happy, Happy!

I love hanging the washing up and bringing it in, but the set up here is just so impractical.  Lack of sun means it takes forever for anything to dry, so having the dryer means I can bring the clothes in mostly dry, and wack them in for 10 mins or so just to finish them off.

Of course, I am running the poor machine off its feet at the moment, because I have so much to catch up on!

We already have 2 steam mops, but they were super cheappies (Les's idea, not mine), and they stopped working after one use.  The one we want at least comes with a warranty, and is able to be used in other areas of cleaning too, as it is a little backpack thingy! LOL>

Re: Happy, Happy, Happy!

just to let you know mine is the kenwood 2000 i have had it for 8 years and its super.

i had bought a  cheapie from kmart a little vaccum cleaner with a steam mop . I wanted one upstairs. But i took it to my beach house. it is smaller so takes twice as long. for my house. Perfect for thebeach house.

yeah the cheapies sometimes arent worth it. if you add it up but as you said it was Les's idea not yours. oh well sometimes they need to live and learn

i need one to clean the carpet. have you any suggestions? I just want to be able to clean the traffic areas and any stains as an interim for when the guy comes out to do it

i hope you are enjoying your day

love annie

Re: Happy, Happy, Happy!

I'll have to check out what Kenwood has.  Not sure we get their products in Gympie though, small town and all, we don't even have a cinema.

For cleaning carpets, we are looking into a dyson wet and dry vac, but haven't been able to find one yet.  We are talking about a couple of thousands dollars for it though, but if it does the job, it will be worth it..

Re: Happy, Happy, Happy!

OMG I wish my dishwasher still worked! I miss it sooo badly!!! Must replace that one year... but as for a dryer...

I love my dryer so much that my clothesline is now sitting in pieces amid a pile of scrap metal. I decided when I moved here to boycott saving money and power and say bugger the environment on that issue because the environment here isn't particularly good to anyone with regards to laundry and clotheslines!!!

  1. Rain - it happens here sometimes as well.
  2. Frost and dew - may as well have been raining!
  3. Sun - coloured fabrics that aren't UV resistant (most of it) fades very quickly.
  4. Wind - if it can tear down my back fence and rip off my driveway gates I'm not going to trust my laundry to stay on a line!
  5. Dust storms - yep, that's just dandy to have happen with laundry on a line!!!
  6. Bird poop - end of story.

Re: Happy, Happy, Happy!

Exactly!!!!!  And, it isn't like I just went for the cheapest product, I went for the best as far as performance and energy rating go, but still within our price range.

I'll send your clothes back to you.  They are a bit red, a bit torn, but they dried well! rofl!

Fisher & Paykel's dishwasher we got is about $800, but most companies will layby.  Besides, being in the sticks like you are, delivery would take forever, and that's just to get the thing to the store! LOL

Re: Happy, Happy, Happy!

Good to hear you had such good service, it shows that they value your custom, not like the big companies  where you have to wait a long time to even get noticed that you need help

Re: Happy, Happy, Happy!

Exactly Pauline,

The big stores are only interested in the sale they are sure of, where as the little guy is only interested in giving the right info and helping you find the product of your dreams.

We walked in, they said hi, left us to view the products while they finished up with the other customers, then came over to ask if they could be of help.  They clearly remembered us from last time, and really helped.  Got a product that they weren't going to be getting anymore, and with a $10 discount to boot!  Oh, and half price delivery as well! LOL.

And if we don't support the local businesses, they don't support us.  many here support community based projects, so everyone wins.

Re: Happy, Happy, Happy!

I willingly gave up our clothes line when poochie broke it...we had her lead hooked on there while we put her safety strap in the minivan...she goot happy and clothesline went, well, it went everywhere the poochie did...LOL!  I was so happy because hanging out clothes is such a domesticated chore...its right up there with washing the dishes three times a day.  I always ask, 'why would you want to do that willingly?'  ROFT...anyhoo I digress...I have a clothes dryer and no clothes line...makes me happy so I can well imagine how happy you are with all the laundry you have...

I was getting worried about that mountain there for a while and worried that the neighbor's cat would be

Cat Saw You Naked

PMSL!

Awesome service with the store you used...should be like that everywhere.  Now I need to get the poochie to do something that will warrant me getting a dishwasher...LOL!

Have an awesome day girlie..

T.

Re: Happy, Happy, Happy!

PMSL ROFL LAMO! Now that would be one way to keep the cat away!

Mountain is disappearing very quickly!!!!  Well, from the laundry it is, but now the folding corner and everyones wardrobes aren't coping!  Need more coathangers! LOL.

Nothing like a pooch to destroy the clothes line.  Just keep her away from the dryer! LOL

Re: Happy, Happy, Happy!

Completely understand about the clothes lines only getting 2 hours of sun...thankfully with the tree that fell down and one we had cut down, the sun does it's job, yipee and my old dryer, with a hit and a kick to get it going hehe!... fluffs up the towels when needed.

How thoughtful of you  thinking not only of yourself in getting a dryer but but thinking of Les also in getting him a dishwasher...love it...Haa Haa!

That was great service not bad for a little rural store.

Love Janice

Re: Happy, Happy, Happy!

In summer, the line would be used a lot, except in wet weather, and let's face it, that is about 75% of the time in summer! LOL

Yes, I figured if I was getting a dryer, the least i could do was get Les the dishwasher.  The only other option was I take over the dishes, and then I would never get time to myself! LOL.

little and local pays.  Will be going back to them for a steam mop and wet/dry vac soon too, once i make a start on the christmas shopping!

Re: Happy, Happy, Happy!

We were going to go to Harvey Normans, but I've never had good service from them in the past, so going back to the place we knew we would get service just made sense.

Yeah, no more mouldy pegs!  Who in their right mind buys wooden pegs any way?  LOL.  They are slowly being thrown out!

Well it took me a while to work out that wooden pegs are a completely stupid idea. They fall apart as well (with help from the kids)
