Yesterday we discovered a new resident in our backyard. It was a huge lace monitor (a type of lizard) and it was gorgeous. This specimen was about 1m in length, brightly coloured around the mouth and under belly and spotty on the back. Wow! It really made my day.
Today, Les said it is still hiding in our drain. I think maybe it is making a nest in there. Good place for it and it can easily get back to the bushland without too much hassles. Fine by me, as it is snake season, and it will keep them out of our yard. Don't get me wrong, I love snakes too, but not the venomous ones in my back yard.
I have been trying to get a picture of my new baby (LOL), but as yet, the poor thing is a little on the shy side. Yeah, not yesterday though! lol. If I do manage to get a good one, i will be sure to share it.
I also think it is sign that our plans my have already been started. Hhhmmm, sounds strange, but every time I get pregnant, I start seeing 1 animal that I have not had the pleasure of seeing before, and it is always one that you wouldn't expect to see on a regular basis.
With Ayla, is was dolphins. We were living on the Tweed River (ok, so up from the bank a little. lol) and when I came near, they would come over to see us. Seriously, they didn't do this for anyone else. A few days before Ayla arrived, there was a mum and bub, Mum brought bubs up really close for me to see and it was so special! Gosh, it was like she was showing her new addition, and I was the one she wanted to show.
With Willow, it was Green Tree Frogs. Our first trip to Gympie, we stayed in a caravan park. One night, I went to have a shower, and something told me I had to use the one right down the end. Well, blow me over, I start having my shower, and what should jump right onto my baby belly? A big, cold frog! and it had a cheeky grin on its face! lol. (no kidding, it looked like it). And I kept seeing these frogs every where, and at the strangest times too.
Laurel, well, hers was a frog mouth of some sort. It flew onto the verandah of the house we were living in, making a real racket, and said 'boo' when we went to have a look. (it really did say boo! lol). Well, I never saw it again, but could certainly hear it! lol.. It was letting me know it was still there.
Lastly, Acacia. Well, again another bird. This time a sea bird. For her, it was the White Bellied Sea Eagle. Such a majestic creature indeed. And it followed us where ever we moved to. No, I'm serious, the first time we saw it, we were living in the bush well away from the coast, and then when we moved to Tin Can Bay, the same one followed us out there. How do I know it was the same one? Well, it had a purple piece of ribbon around one leg.
So, now it has got me wondering if we don't already have #5 on the way. Hhhhmmm, would also explain why I have been feeling so off just lately, and the ups and downs! lol.
I hope this new visitor sticks around for a while. I would love to get a photo so I can show the girls. I just don't want it chasing me around the yard! lol. I love reptiles, but OMG, I'm not going to hold them unless I have a handler with me! lol.
