I'm trying to be patient and not get all upset, nearly lost it a couple of times today already. Now Les is in bed and I just can't stop crying!
I want to know when I'm going to Brisbane! I've not heard from them at all and I should have by now. I'd have thought they'd want to work quickly and put plans in place now, before the pregnancy goes much further and certainly before Puggle arrives.
I'm still too chicken to tell my mum. I can hear the tone in her voice already accusing me of making her unborn grandchild sick. Silly, I know, but the last time things went wrong, and I mean really wrong for me, she made me feel as though I'd caused it all and that everything I touch turns to mud. I can't handle that again.
I know I'm tired and stressed and pregnant and that I have to have patience, but I want to know now! I need to put the money aside for a motel etc just in case and I need to make a booking, but can't until I know dates. Need to organize getting to Brisbane. My only options are a train at 6 am or the bus at 1pm. Coming home, the train is 8pm and the bus is 2pm.
I don't want them to call or send the letter if they are only going to give me a days notice as I won't be able to go.
And what if they want me to stay in until Puggle is born? Les won't cope! We have noone here to help and he's been showing signs of getting a super migraine again, just a matter of days I reckon
I know everyone here is great to me, and I appreciate you all, I just wish I had someone here in Gympie. Someone who can go with me to Brisbane or be here to help Les with the girls.
I'm starting to think that I have to just keep going here and forget about Puggle's problems, and if that means losing my baby so my family can keep going, then that's what will have to happen. I really can't afford to spend 1 night away from Les and the girls. Ayla wouldn't be able to go to school!
Well, I need a toilet break, again, like you wanted to know.
Sorry I'm not very happy at the moment. |

Les collected the mail after getting Ayla from school. 2 immunisation record letters. Well, the one for Acacia was fine, all upto date and correct.
Here's where the booboo is. The other letter states I'm the child, born the same day as Acacia (year too), that my immunisations are not upto date and that my parent/guardian needs to get my needles updated
ROFL I think someone was having a bad day! Interesting, I had HepB needles recently. Oh, I had mine done years ago twits! Do need tetnus again soon, the needle not the disease! So will have to bare my bum for that at some point! lol.
Just thought I would share a laugh. The waiting game is starting to get to me, but this certainly made me laugh! lol. |

|
Yep, I'm going to be a good girl and give my back a break! lol. Time on the couch sounds really good.
Oh, and I probably won't be here over night! How am I going to cope? ROFL. I'm sooo tired and have to be up early tomorrow. Les has a busy day! He's got errands to run and a book to find for me! lol.
So, I hope that everyone has a good night and doesn't stay up all night long. Oh, that's me who does that! lol.
One other thing. I got possumed last night! Yep, logged off here at 4:30am, went for last cig, and then this dark shape came over the fence (chain style) and bolted upto the back steps. I grabbed my torch and shone it on the creature thinking it was a cat, but it turned out to be a rather fat possum! Now this was really funny, she had 2 babies on her back and spent the next few minutes parading in front of me cat style showing her brood off! Am I being told something here? lol.
Any way, I'm going now! Don't strain any finger muscles while I'm gone! |

Seems that minti is a little sleep at the moment, so I thought while waiting for the party, I would go through my friends list, randomly choose members and then grab a few of their advice pieces to keep my reading skills sharp and learn some new things.
Wow! So many great articles! So much reading! So much more typing to do! lol. I have leant some very helpful things tonight, which has to be a good thing!
I'm going to start doing this more and more. There is just so much out there to read and much of it of a great help. I'm also planning on picking up a couple of Uni study units over the next few months (everything willing) so practicing my reading is going to help a lot!
Don't worry, I'll be mixing up my victims and leaving comments on everything I do read. Some articles are shorter than others, but still good. Sometimes short and sweet gets the message across. Just because I always end up with a 10 page report when I write and then have to spend hours cutting it down to about 2 minutes of reading! lol.
Ah yes, learning new things certainly keeps the mind sharp! |

I love my cross stitch, nothing better than watching tele and stitching away! Sadly, it is getting harder for me to sit down for long and the sessions are getting shorter and less often. Still, this is how things have gone since the last update.
Slowly getting there! Tigger almost has his head!
I think I breathed while taking this one, so sorry if it is hard to see. This is after stitch session 7 and I only managed a little more on the head and some of the body.
Session 8 was a long one. I was so close to finishing Tigger's head, that I decided I was going to keep going until it was done. Backstitch will be done when all the crosses are done.
And more of Tigger's body is forming. 9 sessions of stitching and Tigger is starting to get legs!
Phew! Poor Tigger! I'm sure he just wants to be done all at once, but due to a growing belly (mine of course!), it is getting harder to sit comfortably, stitch the picture and enter into my laptop. Hhhhhhmmm, the problem is only going to get worse! lol. |

Potty/toilet training has not been the easiest thing as a parent. Let me put that a little better. Getting our children to use the potty/toilet has not been easy! Can't have you all thinking that I'm the one still in training and that I sit on that piddly piece of plastic!
Our oldest (Ayla) has only been out of nappies for about 15 months and it took a long time to get her to use the toilet (she actually skipped the potty!). Then, I got her special Dora The Explorer knickers and that was it! from that point, she was fine!
Willow, my now four year old, has, up until about a week ago, been very pig headed and determined to make potty training as hard as possible. She just doesn't seem to be with it much of the time and I reckon she is off with the fairies way to much. We bought her a new potty, a very special fancy one and told her that this was her magic potty. Um, yeah right that worked!
Time for a new plan. Willow actually made her own bargain. If I bought her some of her own special knickers, then she would start using the potty. Hhhhhmmm, ok, worth a try. Got them, and what do you know! She has kept her end of the deal and only had 1 accident since, and that was the first hour of the first day she wore her new knickers. From that point on, she has asked on a regular basis to use the potty and her knickers have stayed clean and dry!
Way to go Willow! As a reward, I went and bought her a whole lot more and she loves that she can choose which ones she wears. So, so proud of her! She is still in nappies when we go out and over night, but the hardest steps have been taken so the rest will be easy!
Now, the last couple of months, Laurel, who is 2, has been having her turn sitting on the potty, not doing anything. Then, Les tells me today that for the last few days she has been doing a wee morning and night on the potty! OMG! She's only just 2 and looks like she will be giving up nappies soon too! Fantastic! Then it will be just Acacia in nappies, until Puggle is born, and we will be saving heaps.
Now, i"m not holding my breathe for Laurel to be out of the nappies any time soon, but it seems she has gotten the idea alot sooner than her older sisters did, so I reckon she will be nappy free by the end of the year, which is 8 months away!
I just can't believe after all the tears and tantrums and stress, from Les and I by the way, Willow is actually going to be a big girl and not need nappies any more! About time too! Actually, her whole behaviour has changed and she is listening alot more, so that might have something to do with it.
Just thought I would share this. I love it when my kids do something that marks the next stage of development! |

Well, the last 24 hours have certainly been an emotional roller coaster for me. Not just talking about The Featured Member Surprise either, which certainly made my day!
I had my appointment with my doctor yesterday to get blood and ultrasound results. It seems there is a problem with my Puggle. Apparently, something to do with the lungs. This means a trip to Brisbane Women and Children's Hospital for a more detailed scan.
As you can imagine, I was terrified! I cried when the doctor told me and then when I told Les, and the tears have been coming on and off ever since. I didn't go to bed until 4am, and that was only because I kept falling asleep at the computer.
I have to wait for my referral from the hospital to come through, and probably won't here anything until Wednesday next week, at the earliest. In the meantime, I'm just trying to focus on my family and of course Minti. Everything I wrote yesterday in my blog and in other areas was genuine, I was having my Minti fix and it really helped.
My doctor actually seemed more worried about the fact that clinically (when he measures my belly) I'm 28 weeks, but by the corrected dates and the scan, I'm only 24 weeks. I've put it down to the 'post preggy purse' I've got thanks to Ayla, but he thinks it is more than that. Um, hello! Baby #5 in 6 years! Can't expect a perfect body.
Seriously, I'm still a little panicky about what is going on, but I'm also remembering that the medical staff have to cover their butts and am hoping it is just the fact that during the ultrasound, he had trouble shifting Puggle and then Puggle got the hiccups!
Don't worry, I'm not going to fall apart. I'm still going to be here, and I'm still going to be my usual self. I think I've gotten over the worst of the shock and while still teary, I'm coping and managing to convince my family that I'm ok.
The reason why I didn't share this yesterday was because I was so blown away by being the new featured member that I just wanted to bask and concentrate on that. It just seemed as though admin knew I'd had a rotten day and made me feel soooo much better, though a little surprised at the same time.
I don't know what to expect or how i'm going to get to Brisbane, but will have to work it out when I know more. I won't be upto meeting up with other mums, so sorry ladies, no planning on painting the town Minti green!
I know that I will have to take what comes next and deal with it one step at a time, but you had all better be there for me! I can't rely on my mum for support, as she always jumps in and says that I have to have done something really bad for things to happen to me.
Being a smoker who has been trying to quit for the last 6 years (long, slow process, that should have better results!) I feel really guilty about my selfishness, however, the doctor doesn't think this is what has caused the problem. I am going to try even harder to quit now though and have done well so far today, only half of what I'd have normally had by now.
Well, that's my not so happy news. Sorry to be such a party pooper after the good things that did happen yesterday. |

Wow! I've had such a rotten day, and then I come home, log in and find that I am the 25th Minti Member to be featured! Talk about getting me crying again! But in a good way of course.
Just want to point out, if I'm the 25th Featured Member, then that means Minti has been running for 25 months!!!!! Congrats to Minti! Big milestone!
I've been asked to answer some questions, so will do that I'm not really sure how to feel that I've been shoved in the spotlight so to speak, but I'm going to put it down to the fact I spend way too much time here!
Right, those questions!
- Name, location, and my children: My name is Arna and my family and I live in Gympie, QLD Australia (our town is credited with financing Queensland's financial rise). I have 4 girls, and am expecting my 5th child later in the year. They are Ayla (5), Willow (4), Laurel (2) and Acacia (1).
- How Did I Find Minti: My partner actually was the one who found Minti when he was looking for parenting forums way back after our last baby was born. I was actually still a mess, but he sent me the link, I had a look around and have never left!
- My Fave Thing About Minti: Without a doubt, the people I have met here. There are so many wonderful parents who help to keep me feeling good! Yeah, without the other members, there would be no Minti!
- My Fave Thing About Being A Parent: That's a tricky one! Let's see, it would have to be the knowledge that I am contributing something positive to our very topsy-turvy world.
- My Biggest Parenting Challenge: Another tough one! Ok, brain kick time. The biggest parenting challenge I've faced is learning to trust in my children's abilities and letting them explore their world without me constantly 'saving' them. A very hard thing to do.
- What Worries Me The Most About Parenting: The rising cost of raising children is very worrying. There are so many aspects to that, it would take too long to go into.
- The Best Parenting Advice I Have Been Given: To trust in my own abilities and ask for help when I need it. Thanks lovely Minti ladies for making me see this!
- My Babies First Words: Oh, I have 3 typical little tikes who said Dadda! first. Sadly for Daddy, our 4th said Mumma! first! I finally got a win!
- My Fave Song: I have had many over the years, but I have never found one that sums up how I should be so well. Carole King's Beautiful from her Tapestry album has certainly gotten me through the last couple of years and will always be the one I will throw at others who are having a tough time! The words say to me that I can't let the world get me down and that if I smile, I will always come out on top!
- Funniest Thing My Child or Partner Has Said: I would have to say Ayla introducing her younger sister to her teacher. I wasn't there, but Les told me later. She told the teacher that Laurel was 'Our budgie'. Ok it is her nickname, but would are people going to think? Still, I think that is pretty funny!
- One Word To Sum Up Minti: Inspirational.
- Best Piece of Advice Minti Has Given Me: Back track and re read question 7!
- How Do I Deal With My Minti Addiction: Um, I don't! Some days I spend hours here and others, I check in only a few times, but I'm always thinking about this site!
- How Does My Family Deal With My Minti Addiction: Thankfully, they understand how important it is for me to spend time on Minti and they also know that since becoming a member, I have been a much happier person. Theory is , happy mum= happy kids!
Thanks for having me as a featured member! Hope that everyone is enjoying their time here!
And thank you to everyone for the support I have received, my world doesn't seem such a scary place anymore, and I know that I am never alone! |

We just had hail! I'm talking a full assault on our new roof of upto golf ball sized hail stones! It lasted for about 10 mins, and has now reduced to just good old rain and thunder.
The last time we saw hail like this was when we were living in Tweed Heads, and that was scary as we were in a caravan with a new baby!
Funny thing is, there was no hail forecast on the weather report, but I have learnt to interpret the weather pretty well, and I am very rarely wrong with it. good old ag college! At least some of the stuff I learnt is still being used!
I got some video of it, not sure of the quality, so might YouTube it when the girls are all tucked up. |

I've been fretting about this 6 week date mix up (see earlier blog) and Les and I started discussing it and how there really has been a muck up. I then had the idea of checking my blog on when I had a positive pregnancy test.
Silly Chook Me!!!!!! According to my blog, I had the positive test on 24 Nov last year! Here
That means, I have been a whole month ahead! That means, the doctor is way off and the scan is closer to the truth. That means I am currently sitting here sighing in relief and feeling rather sheepish at the same time.
Thanks for everyone who responded to my last post, I feel better now that I did check back through my ramblings! An August baby it will be! Now, do I aim for mine, my nana's or my uncles birthdays. Or , there is Les' son's birthday! lol We are all in August!
Right now, I'm going to go and have my shower and at least get ready for bed.
Love you all! |

We had our ultrasound today (will post the not so clear pic at some point) and I'm left wondering who I need to fire, my doctor or the sonographer.
While everything looked good and I was taken through all I was seeing in a lot of detail, I've been sent home with a spinning head over due dates. According to the scan, I am only 24 weeks, which is 6 weeks behind what my doctor said and more in line with what we first thought. Our new due date is 13/8/08, so just after my birthday.
Hhhhmmm, so why then does my doctor think I'm further along? Might be losing his 'touch' but will have to wait and see what he says on Thursday.
Am a bit worried that after the scan, the sonographer asked me to keep laying there while he disappeared for a few minutes, so I am really hoping that everything is ok and that I'm not going to be sent to Brisbane for more tests or to have bubs.
You are not going to believe this! Puggle was more than happy to wave little legs around when we started the scan, but everything has to be done in a certain order and by the time it we got back to the kidneys and bladder, the little legs were firmly clamped shut. guess who has to wait longer to find out what they are having! lol. Typical! Got what looked like Puggle sticking its tongue out though! lol
After the scan, blood test time, so Les dropped me at that clinic and I had my blood taken. Ooops, should have been sitting up for longer before hand as my blood pressure dropped from laying down for so long and I have a nice bruise on my arm now! Great! Oh, and I forgot they wanted a urine sample and peed before going in. Yeah, guess who had to carry that little jar around, pee when I needed to and then carry it around before dropping it back to the clinic!
Had to speak with Ayla's teachers today. Apparently, we have some work to do with her in the areas of holding a pencil and her 'play equipment' skills. Oh dear, more money to hand over for things that will hardly ever get used! More time at the park for them all. On the upside, her language skills are very good, above average in fact.
Then the shopping trip! Les went and got the groceries and I blew $60+ on more knickers for Ayla and Willow. Well, Willow is really doing well with the toileting so deserves to have good looking undies! lol. And Ayla's are starting to get worn out! lol. Never ending story. I also got 2 new dresses for $28, so all good.
We got home and it was noise and tears until bed time. I am so drained, sore and not getting any more comfortable. On that note, I'm going to love and leave you all and head back to the couch.
Hope everyone else had a non brain twisting day! Guess it was just a Topsy Turvey Tuesday here! |

Sir David Attenborough v's Steve Irwin
Who is the better presenter of wildlife programs? Sir David Attenborough has a very gentle voice and a is very patient and calm in the way he presents his shows. Steve Irwin (may he rest in peace) was full of energy and would leap around like a maniac actively chasing animals around.
Rules
- This is persuasive writing, where you have to convince me who is the better presenter, so please argue one side. If you want to argue both sides, use 2 responses.
- You have to share which qualities these presenters display gets the message across more effectively.
- No one is right or wrong in their opinions
- THIS IS JUST A LITTLE BIT OF FUN!
My Response:
By far, Sir David Attenborough is the better wildlife presenter. His work has been around for more than 30 years. Longevity of presenting bring more credibility and shows genuine dedication to the job.
Personally, I've never been a fan of those presenters that jump around all the time, speaking as though their very lives depended on it. Nor have I been a fan of making a hyped up show of our gentler creatures like koalas. For this reason, I prefer Sir David Attenborough. His presenting methods are gentler, he is more softly spoken and doesn't make a song and dance or a fool of himself.
His gentler tone of voice is soothing and I believe gets the message through alot more effectively as it is almost hypnotic. He blends into his shows and often it is just his narration that let's us know he is there at all.
Sir David Attenborough has dedicated his entire life to wildlife presentation and to me, has more credibility in his work, not that I am saying Steve Irwin wasn't. Sometimes the more old fashioned and gentler approach works better than jumping around like a bald gorilla.
In closing, Sir David Attenborough, who has announced his retirement, is the King of the Natural World because his gentler, and not in your face methods are far more effective than those of Steve Irwin who was hyper and could never sit still or whisper! Your turn! have some fun but don't ask who Sir David Attenbourough is, just click on the link and it will take you to his wikipedia entry for more info. |

I love seeing old pictures, and I have found some of Les in his much younger days and thought I would share them with you all. Aren't I just the loving wifre? lol.

And if you think that is too scary, then please don't scroll down further! lol

I did warn you! ROFL. Thanks to Les' son for sending these to us! And apart from trading his hair for extra body bulk, Les is still the cheekiest man ever! |
| |
|
Yay! My darling 2 year old finally went to sleep in her own bed last night, and didn't need to be cuddled first. Ok, she actually went to sleep under Willow's bed, but this was the first time neither Les or I have had to put up with a twisting monkey in our arms for an hour or so.
I just hope she can keep it up! For the first night in however long, we were kiddie free by 8pm, and loving the peace and quiet.
Just thought I would share my excitement on my little girls triumph! |

|
Ok, I finally managed to upload my photos. Yay! There are heaps to catch up on toady.
This is Tigger with his new nose! He can smell us all now! lol. Wow! I can't believe that this was after stitching session #4
Now I have to be very careful as Tigger can watch my every stitch! #5 stitching session and I'm so happy with how it is all coming along.
Sorry, not the best pic. Blame it on the glass in the frame, but it gives it a really antique feel! This is one of my pride and joys up on my wall. Only took about 4 years to get it framed! lol.
I love my Winnie The Pooh and Friends kits! lol. My greatest and biggest piece of work to date, and it is definitely up on my wall! The Tigger I'm working on is from the same series and will be going on the wall too. Hhhhmmm, need bigger house with bigger and more walls.
And finally, my latest finished pattern Isn't Piglet just the cutest? Not sure what this will be made into. Les has suggested I make a collage out of my finished patterns, but I want to put this one on a cushion cover! lol. We'll see who wins!
So, that is my cross stitch update. I still have about 100 patterns on the go (various stages of completion and some ready to be started) but I don't mind. I get cranky with one, put it down and work on the next one.
Hope everyone is having a great week. Ayla was back at school toady and it was soooo quiet here, I even slept most of the day, but was up til 4am! lol.
|
| |
|
Yeah, got to find a way, without joining another website like MySpace or Facebook, to store my photos. Can't upload at all at the moment, and have a few to share of my cross stitch.
Oh well, Les is going to upload them to his files and I can use them from there. Hope he does it soon or the nagging witch will be back!
Got my date for an ultrasound. Not impressed though, it isn't until next Tuesday (22/4). Apparently they are soooo busy. As if, they accept walk ins all the time! Still, don't need to have a full bladder so will be much more comfortable. Hope I can get pics this time, they haven't done it in the past, even when I have asked.
Belly is growing alarmingly at the moment. My arms are outstretched and typing is getting harder. Ok, not quite that bad, but close.
Hope you all have a great week! Ayla's back to school tomorrow and I can't wait! |
| |
|
Yeah, like you guys didn't figure that out before. Well, I told Les 1 hour ago that I was just going to finish my cuppa and come to bed. Oops, I also forgot to mention that I would have a quick look around Minti first. .
I really should be in bed, and will be going shortly, but I need my night cap first! lol hhhmm, 3am and still managing to type, despite the fact my brain doesn't want to co operate.
It would not surprise me if my account gets suspended due to the amount of time I spend here but I just can't live without minti. It is like taking air away from me! lol.
No, I really am a minti addict, and I really need my bum kicked for still being up at 3 am!
Oh well, hope you all |
| |
|
well, we have had a rat problem for a while now, slowly been trapping them, and often having to behead as well, but there is one tricky little sucker.
Last night, I got the torch out and went hunting. I know where this rodent is playing and hiding, but boy, I wish I had never looked under the stove. There, at the back, amongst all the food she has stolen (and the odd scraps of cloth) was a pair of my knickers! What the? No wonder I keep running out!
Yeah, go on, have a laugh! At least I can safely say she is not wearing them, just pinching them to line her nest. Jokes on her, they are from the dirty washing pile!
Anyone with any ideas on how to get rid of this pest, please, I am all eyes! Oh, DA, the vaccum won't work, as this is a rat, not mouse! lol. |
| |
|
It has been a while since I worked on my next master piece, but here is the latest update on how my Tigger pic is coming along.
His tail is complete and he has most of his bottom there and to the right of the picture, yep, the pale yellow, is the start of his face!
Will have more to add in the next few days, so keep watching if you want to see more. |
| |
|
Yay for me! I actually kept my appointment this time. So, those of you who have been tisking at me for not going sooner, you can stop now. Actually, my doctor said that I should know by now what is what and when there is a problem. Reckon I should have an honorary degree in obstetrics or midwifery! lol.
Well, there were a few surprises, like, we are 27 weeks along, not 24 as we first thought. Ooops, how on earth did I lose 3 weeks! That gives us an unofficial due date of 4th July! Yeah, go on all you peoples from the US, and Independance Day baby! ROFL. Hey, why not, Ayla was born on 15 March, which was the day Juilus Ceaser was assassinated.
I have to have an ultra sound and blood tests done, but he is happy that bubs is growing well, though it seems we are going to be head down (Puggle, not me!) within the next few weeks. Hhhmmm, that's when it gets really uncomfortable for me. Will get those done next week and then back to the docs on the 18th.
My blood pressure was very low, 95/60, but that's what happens when you get straight off the exam bed and have my blood pressure taken straight away! Still, better than being too high, but he wants to make sure it doesn't get any lower. Got a blood pressure machine here that Les is supposed to use, so will keep an eye on mine every couple of days. See, I'm not a silly chook! lol.
I'm on Fess Nasal Spray for this bug, which is a sinus infection now. If not cleared up by the time I go back (2 weeks) then will be on anti biotics, but apparently, I can go on a low dose and not be in hospital when on them. If they don't work then the dramas will begin. Got a lecture about how I should have asked for an urgent appointment because of it though. yeah, notice no lecture on how long it took me to get in there because I'm pregnant and needed the paper work started!
So, there you have it. A month ahead of what we thought, so no birthday arrival for me! lol.
Hope you all have a great weekend. Got lots more cross stitch goodies, so I'm set! lol. |
| |
|
Time is getting away from me. This flu now seems to be a sinus infection, and is getting worse with every day. Thankfully, I have an appointment with my doctor on Friday, but am seriously hoping that he doesn't put me on antibiotics as that would mean 2 weeks in hospital. Peace and quiet, I think not! I don't sleep well when in hospital.
Willow turned 4 on Saturday, followed on Sunday with Laurel turning 2. My babies are growing up. They got lots of goodies, though Saturday was full of dramas and nothing we did would make the girls behave.
Acacia's turn is next. Got another month before that though. Still, hard to think she will be turning 1. And then of course, Puggle will be arriving.
Have had 1 little victory with Willow. She finally did a poo on the potty the other day, but there has been no repeat performance yet, and in fact, is showing no signs of caring that her knickers are wet or dirty. I really think there is more to her 'laziness' as her language skills are a little behind what would be expected of her age group. Her lack of listening is a problem too. Still, gotta take the victories where we can.
I'm so sorry for not being around much, but I can barely stay awake for more than 5 mins at a time and my nose is dripping like a tap when I sit at the computer. More tissues please Les! I am thinking of you all and hoping that everyone is remembering to find something to smile about. I will be back more when feeling better.
Enjoy the rest of your week. |
