As the end of the financial year has just passed, and our tax refunds have been paid, it was down to some serious considerations into getting a dryer for me and a dishwasher for Les.
Why? Because our clothes line only gets sun for about 2 hours in the morning and none for the rest of the day and we are sick and tired of the girls being able to push dishes of the bench.
We went hunting at Redford’s Betta Electrical, where we have previously bought appliances from (our washing machine ...
We have new neighbours, which is fine, except for one thing – they have a cat that they don’t keep in at night.
This cat is friendly enough, a bit skittish, but happy to come and say hello to us, and tease the girls out the front window. Alas, the cat is also very friendly with our birds, which is going to be huge problem.
Currently, our birds are in cages on a table outside, as they wouldn’t be safe from the girls inside. They have been out there since we moved here several months ago, safe ...
This is something that really gets me. The mentality of some parents is down right dangerous and the lack of common sense they have is astounding!
Obesity in young children seems to be a new trend. Now, we are talking about parents who are deliberately keeping their kids in this state for whatever reason.
The following video clip shows a 7 year old girl, who can’t walk because of her size!!! And what are her parents feeding her all the time? Why, all the things that are bad for their child of course, and this girl is never without food in hand ...
The other day, I rescued this tiny little gecko that had been running around our floor. It couldn’t have been more than a few days hatched, and because of the cold weather, it was rather slow on its feet. The tail was also have missing.
With the little critter safely up off the floor, I put him in our study, thinking it would be a great place for it to grow and hide. Yeah, the perfect place, as the girls can’t get in here at all, thanks to the old play pen that has been transformed into a fence of some ...
I think it is great that schools go through the ‘Stranger Danger’ plan with children. Every school should have this plan and it should include parents (alas, us parents haven’t been included).
The problem is I now have a 5 year old who is obsessed with ‘Stranger Danger’ awareness, to the point she is having nightmares about strangers coming into our house at night and trying to kill us all. This is now a nightly occurrence, and very frightening to witness.
Willow wakes up screaming, convinced there is someone in the house and they are trying to kill her. Naturally, it is ...
Yeah! Up super early today, for me, and helped to get the girls off to school. Good show I say! But there’s more…
Girls safely at school, after I dropped them to their classrooms, the rest of the family went shopping. got my bras in things lay by out, meaning even more Pooh and Friends pj’s, but hey, I need them (like a hole in the head!). A quick drink break and over to Goldfields to get the girl’s clothes that were on lay by. And of course, school supplies for Ayla.
Home again, some washing done, some computer time and then ...
I got bored with the picture I was doing (that makes about 20 I’m bored with), so I thought I would have a look and see which ones I’d already started and got ‘bored’ with before.
Lo and behold! I found the one I bought on a trip to Bundaberg! It is 3 dolphins jumping through the waves, that have rainbows through them.
It is HUGE! Not kidding, it is about 50cm wide and 30cm tall, and that’s just the stitching area, not the part you will see once it is finished though. A long project for sure, but well worth the ...
Yes, my baby sisters came up yesterday, despite my warnings that we are currently breeding a bug of some sort. They said that it was their choice, and they aren’t going overseas for about another 3 weeks, so they would be over it by the time they left.
We got to meet J’s new man. He’s my age (meaning he’s about 8 years older than my sister) and seems to be really well grounded (for his age). He was polite, and really, really good with the girls. I’m so pleased that J has ...
Yes, it is a very sad day for our girls, particularly for Ayla. I’m sure that it will be a day to remember, with many tears shed and much laughter too. Ok, so it was me laughing so hard I could barely breathe!
The tragedy was the loss of a beach ball. Gone in an unfortunate second of Ayla not paying attention. Where to? Well, over the high fence and into the neighbours back yard of course.
Despite the repeated warnings that if any ball or toy went over the fence it would be gone, ...
My two baby sisters are coming up to see us on Saturday (one to show of her new man!), which is something we are all really looking forward to. The purpose of the visit is to store some furniture with us and to see us before both of them head overseas for over a year.
Knowing that they need to be in the best health before they jet set, i'm rather concerned about them coming to see us now. In the past couple of days, all our girls have started to show signs of having a cold/flu, and Aralia (almost 11 months) now has a rather croupy cough and has been out of sorts all day. Ayla was vomiting the other night, but fine today and the rest all have sniffles of some sort (though full of energy and still able to drive us nuts!).
I really want to see my sisters, but i don't want them to get sick either. They leave on their trip in about 2 1/2 weeks, which would mean they would be feeling rather poorly if they did come up and get sick from our girls.
I'm going to give my sisters the option to back out, so don't worry about that, I'm just wondering what everyone else would do in my situation? I haven't seen my baby sisters in about 7 months and i won't get the chance to see them again for another 18 if I have to cancel!
