Well I am 37 and have 2 children who are 4 yo and 12 yo. I have a partner who is 35 and he has 2 children who are 12 yo and 13 yo. We have been together for 2 years. We all live together and have done for nearly a year. It has been difficult at times as we don't know each other all that well. My daughter and I were living alone for 2 years with my son visiting every weekend until my ex-husband allowed my son to live with me. Then my partner and his son had lived alone for 4 years and his daughter had lived with her mother in Queensland but after last years christmas holidays she decided to try living in Adelaide. So all the kids have had different parenting styles to live with and now we are one big happy family. With those of you who know teenagers I am sure you can understand some of the problems we face and those yet to come. My partner and I decided to get some counselling to help us understand some things better about blending families but I am sure there are parents out there facing a similar situation and may be able to help us further. |
