A complaint free world

by August88Comment Published at 16:4116:413 comments3 comments20 Visits20 VisitsReport

I got this newsletter from the web site a complaint free world and it has got me thinking of what a great idea this is and what a better world we could have. I have ordered the bracelet and I am going to try to put it in action. LOL  Here is some info from the newsletter:

The main reasons people complain are:

To Get Attention: The primary need people have is to connect with others. A person may complain to a stranger about the weather or a local sports team as a means of starting a conversation.

To Avoiding taking action: People will complain to avoid trying to improve society and themselves. When someone says, “Everyone in my family is overweight” it excuses them from adopting a healthy lifestyle.

People also complain to avoid social embarrassment. A person who wants to ask someone to a dance may complain that the other person is “stuck on themselves” as a way of excusing themselves from asking and possibly being rejected.

To Pre-excuse poor performance: A person about to sing before a group may complain that they have a scratchy throat prior to performing to lower expectations should they not sing well And someone about to take an important test may complain that they didn’t get enough sleep to reduce embarrassment should they not earn a good grade.

To Brag: A complaint may be a cry of superiority. It implies that the complainer feels they don’t have whatever fault they are complaining about. People will also complain about poor quality as a means of letting others know that they have high or refined standards. A person may complain about the food or service at a restaurant as a way of letting all who hear know that their disapproval of what’s being presented proves they are arbiters of quality.

To Exercise Control: In "The Seat of the Soul," best-selling author Gary Zukav wrote, "complaining is a form of manipulation." People often complain as a means of inciting others to abandon an alliance and switch to their point of view. Complaining is used to build support and power by focusing on what is wrong with another’s position. Complaining is used to lobby for a majority position of control.

My son is loose on the road

by August88Comment Published at 02:1202:123 comments3 comments17 Visits17 VisitsReport

Yes he passed the hazard perception test yesterday and straight away went out shopping with his brother. He drove to work this morning and is driving himself to footy training tonight, then get this driving him and his brother to his dads for the weekend. I don't want to sound too excited but as it is a little scary that he is out there without me but do you have any idea what a difference this is going to make? I won't know what to do with myself. Lie! Now there is so much to do still.

It almost seems surreal but tomorrow is my last day with my full time family. I have almost a whole week off til my operation next Tuesday and I am hoping to get all those things that I have had no time to do done, like repair guy coming out now I am here and any shopping and cleaning done, especially cleaning as I am not supposed to do anything for 2 weeks. Believe me that is stressing me as my boys will not do it the way I want it. I go back to work May 2 so will be going crazy by then.

Anyway hope everyone has a great weekend. May be seeing some minti ladies on Sunday if all goes to plan this time. Hope to see lots of Perth mums, and to everyone else have a great weekend!

Outdoor movie night

by August88Comment Published at 16:1016:101 comments1 comments8 Visits8 VisitsReport

Yesterday we had a bar-b-q in the park for Kiza's birthday then watched the big screen. The movie was Atonement with Kiera Knightly so turned out a good night. The night before Mark had come down and my friend and her son which is Kieron's friend came and James too. The kids are still asleep. Kieron's friend and Mark are in the lounge here so trying to push the keys very lightly. LOL

I just wanted to share that. I went to visit him on my day off last Wednesday and he had started to eat a little and was up and about a bit. He went home on the weekend and we will go visit during easter. I don't know if he will be eating chocolate by then so better just get him a scratchie. LOL

Good weekend

by August88Comment Published at 02:3802:3810 comments10 comments16 Visits16 VisitsReport

OK just been back from go-carting with my brother and sorry no did not go in it just watched. Honestly I can't see myself in them. The boys would be doing circles around me. Gary came over to give us a family pass to a jet boat. OMG! I have to do this one so will be exciting but scary. Mum won the tickets but wanted me and the boys to have them.

My weekend started bad though. On Friday after work I went to pick up Nik from TAFE only to find him bleeding from his mouth and nose. I had just missed some guy bashing him by a couple of minutes. I took him straight to the police station but they asked me to take him to the hospital first to be treated. I needed to then take him back for a statement. I am a bit annoyed that I didn't get pictures but thought of it but didn't do it. By the time I finished all that it was 8pm. He is alright though, just sore. The story is that he doesn't even know the guy he is just in his class. Unprovoked attack. Anyway am getting the police to investigate. We don't even know his name just that he is in his Friday class and that Nik will know him if he sees him.

Anyway too little time to explain any more.

What a lovely surprise

by August88Comment Published at 16:4316:435 comments5 comments20 Visits20 VisitsReport

Just got an e-mail from Jen saying I won a prize on the minti magic comp, and what a nice way to win something by being positive and supportive, basically enjoying minti. How easy! It has made my day. Not all has gone so smooth this weekend but I got through it and just got back from dropping Mark at the train station. James dropped us at Canning bridge and was going to carry on home as I wanted to walk home for a little exercise but my thong broke as I was crossing Canning Hwy and I then had to walk the few kms in bare feet which was a little uncomfortable. I was envious of all the joggers going past all decked out.

Nik went to a friends house on Friday night but when I went to pick him up in the morning he was nowhere to be found and he had gone elsewhere so I was very angry that he didn't have the decency to call me to the late afternoon when I was already visiting my dad in the hospital but at least he was O.K. His friends mum answered the door hung over and just told me he had got out of hand and he was not there and she was going back to bed and slammed the door in my face. This was about 11 and I was picking him up to go to my mums. He wasn't answering his mobile. Anyway as you can see he is picking the same friends at this school.

My brother helped Kiza put his stereo in the car yesterday while Mark. mum, my other brother and I went to see dad. He was in fairly good spirits. He had a morphine drip and he is only just starting to eat mush though he wasn't too keen on that as he was feeling a little sick and was a bit sleepy but he had got up in the chair earlier that day not that he was happy about it but he had made it. He has had major surgery though so he is looking as good as can be expected and will be out in about 10 days. He has a collostomy bag for about 3 months they say. I will go back and see him on my day off  Wednesday.

Anyway it was just going to be a short visit. There is always so much happening. Today I have to do some housework because this arvo I am going to Scarborough beach for a bar-b-q with James and his extended family. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

My dads in hospital

by August88Comment Published at 12:3712:374 comments4 comments21 Visits21 VisitsReport

My dad had his operation yesterday and will be in hospital for about 10 days. Mum will ring me tonight as when I rang last night she hadn't heard from them yet but he would have been coming out of theatre. No news is good news for me now but he is tough. My brother John is down on his holiday and is staying with mum this weekend so that is good. We are going up there as John is helping Kiza put his stereo in the car, after basketball that is and Mark comes over. James brother came over from Queensland too so on Wednesday there was a big family gathering as he has 8 siblings and it was a really nice night. I hadn't met that brother yet and his wife and there little son who is only 2. His whole family is nice though.

I woke up so early as there was a really heavy shower. I must have gone to bed too early but this is good. Last Sunday Kiza got given some left over pavers from work. My brother Gary helped him get them with his ute. Kiza is going to pave the side of my driveway where his car goes as it is going to get bogged soon. The trouble with this drive way is that it is akward to park cars though there is room though if the front car has to come out they all do. Anyway they got the pavers then we went to the indoor go-cart track. Uncle Gary verses the boys. They had a great time. I just watched from the side. I'm too chicken for that.
