A little bit of Seoul..

Comment Published at 03:5403:548 comments8 comments24 Visits24 VisitsReport

Well finally we have arrived... we have been here almost two weeks and have seen some of the city.. but not much! We are living in a hotel as our housing is not available for another two weeks!!! The novelty of hotel living has definately worn off as we have been living in 3 different hotels over the past month and still have two weeks to go!   Internet access has not been available as the hotel wants to charge $10 a day for it and we are so cheap! I just realised someone nearby us has a wireless connection which luckily reaches our room.. Yipee!! I am in contact with the world again!

Seoul is a lovely city and the people are so nice.. the driving is a little eratic but thankfully the car will not arrive for another month so I will worry about that then! The subway access is not stroller friendly at all so I have to wait until the back pack arrives to venture out on my own. My grasp of the language is nothing short of pathetic! My first encounter at the department store resulted in me responding in French and then in Italian!!!! Languages are not my forte but I have kinda mastered three 'phrases' Hello, thank you and 'do you speak English'!!! There you go.. pathetic! Once I have moved into the apartment I will begin lessons!

JB has handled the move pretty well, he keeps saying 'home' and we have to explain to him that this is home... tomorrow Daddy leaves for work and will be gone for a week so I am not sure how that will go  Anyway, I will try to make it to some lounges this week!

HELLO LORNA!  I am so excited to see you back online!  How did the travel go?  Much screaming and tantrums while flying?  Did you do anything exciting enroute to Korea?

Hotel living does suck.  Starts out being fun but quickly you tire of the eating out and living out of suitcases.  2 weeks...hope it goes quickly for you.

How are you finding the food.  Is JB eating it ok?  Little ones are so resiliant.  I am sure he will be fine.

Glad you are well, you look fantastic.  Welcome to the southern hemisphere!

All the best-angela

All the best with your plans over there, and i agree there is no place like home, and hotels are a novelty and can be outworn...

$10 a day for the internet!?!? You are not cheap, you are sensible... So glad that you managed to find time to tell us how you are going though, I have been wondering.  It must be a real eye opener and I think you are really brave getting out there and experiencing such a different culture so far from home.  Best wishes to the 3 of you Lorna, and I hope that the next few weeks pass quickly for you. xox

Hey Lui

Good to hear from you! Yep I wouldn't mind paying for the internet for a weekend or so.. but at $300 a month.. no chance!!  It is a great opportunity for us to be here and I hope to get out and see and experience the Korean sites and culture as much as possible... It is great for James and I am sure he will learn the language before I do!

Hope you aren't too much longer in the hotels.  They are great for holidays, but never feel like home.

You'll get the language eventually.  At least you know the main one- 'do you speak English' lol.

Thanks Arna

It will be a while before we stay in another hotel I can tell you!  I am longing for a home cooked meal that's for sure!
