This post is from from my other blog here Originally before my time, but I liked it! I just bought a stuffed Purple people-eater from the local consignment shop the other day, for Sugar Bear. If you squeeze it's foot, it plays the song. He loves it and dances to it. Here's a picture of it that someone had put up on Flickr. Of course, I had to post the lyrics to the song too. ;) Purple People Eater by Sheb Wooley Well I saw the thing comin' out of the sky It had one long horn, one big eye. I commenced to shakin' and I said, "Ooh-eee" It looks like a purple people eater to me. It was a one-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater, (One-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater) A one-eyed one-horned, flyin' purple people eater Sure looks strange to me. (One eye?) Well he came down to earth and lit in a tree I said Mr. Purple People Eater don't eat me I heard him say in a voice so gruff I wouldn't eat you 'cos you're so tough It was a one-eyed, one-horned flyin' purple people eater one-eyed, one-horned flyin' purple people eater one-eyed, one-horned flyin' purple people eater Sure looks strange to me. (one horn?) I said Mr. Purple People Eater, what's your line? He said it's eatin' purple people and it sure is fine But that's not the reason that I came to land I wanna get a job in a rock and roll band! Well bless my soul, rock and roll, flying purple people eater. Pigeon-toed, undergrowed, flyin' purple people eater (we wear short shorts) Flyin' purple people eater sure looks strange to me. And then he swung from the tree and lit on the ground. He started to rock, really rockin' around It was a crazy little ditty with a swingin' tune (sing awop bob aloo bop lop bam boom) Well, bless my soul, rock and roll flyin' purple people eaterPigeon-toed, undergrowed, flyin' purple people eater. Flyin' little people eater Sure looks strange to me. (purple people?) And then he went on his way, and then what do you know. I saw him last night on a TV show. He was blowing it out, a' really knockin' em dead Playing rock and roll music through the horn in his head You're welcome for the flashback! ;) |

This post is from from my other blog here This weeks theme is Soft.
This is my youngest son, Sugar Bear when hen was only 1 month old. He's now almost 17mo. I chose this picture for two reasons. - To me there is nothing as soft as a new baby's skin.
- I will always take full advantage of any opportunity to show off one of my beautiful children. ;)

This post is from from my other blog here This is a site I found that has two forms of the game 'Concentration'. One is Greek words, the other Latin. Great fun especially if one is studying root words or those two languages in general. http://www.literacyunlimited.com/concgame.htm |

This post is from from my other blog here I'm dealing with another major headache today. It's this weather really. One night we'll be freezing at 29 or below, then the next it's 40, then highs in the day fluctuate between 45 and 70. It's a wonder I haven't gotten sick yet and the headaches are the only thing bothering me. Anyway... We just got back from our 4-H/co-op meeting and have some exciting things on the horizon! First of all, our county 4-H is having a photography contetst and a poster contest as well. Babs is entering the photography contest and her deadline is this coming Monday. She has to present pictures with the theme of " something that someone would be doing in 4-H". Today she took photos of the the various classes doing their things. One of those were of the Robotics class, testing a robot they have been programming to pick up objects at the clap of a hand. Clap on, clap off! ;) Starting tomorrow, the group goes into "training" little big man included. They will meet twice a week, plus our Monday 4-H meetings to train, build and prepare for a Robotics competition they will enter in March. It will be held in Viera, FL on March 10th. So you can imagine they have a lot of work to do! It's a team effort/competition and winners can earn scholarships and go on to national championships in Michigan. Who knows if they will achieve that, but the possibilities in Robotics is endless. My son has always had an interest in programming, so he's full into this! His mouth runneth over with talk of Robotics. They are using the Lego Mindstorms program. I'll post pictures and updates as they near the competition time. Well, I'm off to nurse a headache. Blessing to all my readers! |

| Thirteen Reasons I've been an absent blogger this past week
1. I've been suffering with a migraine that comes and goes, come and goes, comes and...you get the idea. 2. On my good days, I've been catching up with organizational housework. 3. About 80% of my online time has been devoted to work related to the Family Learning Co-Op project I'm doing. (I really am loving this job!) 4. The other 20% of my online time, I've been shamefully falling into a late night addiction to club Pogo. When I'm rocking the baby back to sleep at night, this is what I do. 5. I've been offline, but on the computer handling tax related work for my other job...the construction business with my husband. 6. My 13yr old daughter has been sneaking computer time here. Nahh, actually I've been letting her, no sneaking needed or allowed. 7. I've been having a few meltdowns. 8. I blog mostly at night, but I've been going to bed earlier. So, I'm missing quiet blogging moments. 9. I've been spending more time with hubby, watching movies from our blockbuster online rentals. 10. I've also been busy with the kids, playing games, starting cool new projects for homeschool. 11. I've been feeling uninspired to write anything. 12. I've been to lazy to blog. Mostly because of reason #11. 13. I've been re-evaluating sittuations in my life, and personal relationships with friends.

This post is from from my other blog here I stumbled on a blog the other night (forgive me for not remembering which blog it was, since I was reading through a ton of blogs to catch up) that I assume is written by a homeschooler. Anyway, they are working on a project that has peaked my curiousity. It's called Mystery Class. Now the fact that we would be late in starting this project with everyone else does not deter me. I've always said, "better late than never". So I'm going to print a bunch of stuff out from there and see how we can incorporate it into our science right now. I've been cleaning out our homeschool closet lately. I have a ton of books that were given to me that I probably will never use. Everyone tells me to put them on ebay! Why would I do that though, when they were gifted to me in the first place? I'd much rather gift them to other homeschool parents who could use them. So I'll be taking my big box of books to Homeschool Park day today and just sit them out for a free for all. I've been racking my brain a lot lately over this whole Homeschooling Highschool thing. Babs will be 9th grade next year, so I need to have a plan in place. I've been looking into Florida Virtual School for her core subjects and considering doing everything else ourselves. The umbrella school we are under now is just awful. They were great when we started with them 3 years ago. Back then they were a different name, different owners, located here in FL. After all those hurricanes, and some insider ripping them off, they had to sell out to another school. So they became an umbrella school running out of Ill. and I just do not like them at all now! There is absolutely NO communication. I'm interested to see how the rest of the year plays out. I may have the kids portfolio evaluated just to cover my butt with the state of FL in case it comes down to this school not doing it's part like it should. At least I'll have something to show for their school year. No matter what, I know things will work out. I just need to breathe and I'll get through the next four years. Though, I probably shouldn't blink. :) |

This post is from from my other blog here It's been a busy week already. Monday the big kids had Marine Science class with their 4-H group and Using a microscope was the main focus of the day. Babs was totally grossed out when one of the things they had to do was dissect a worm to examine under the microscope. I just had to laugh. Wait until she has to dissect something for High school credit. Hee hee. Babs had P.E. class today, Little Big Man's is tomorrow. Basketball is the sport for the month. Something that Babs is good at. LBG...well...he'll get there. Football is more his speed. :) Sugar Bear gave me a good work out just chasing him around the park during Bab's class. We had to visit the geese, throw wood shaving on all 6 slides of the playground and kick his little ball, soccer style all over the place. Lots of fun! The online job I'm doing is proving to be fun, but a little challenging at times. Just finding a quiet moment around this house so I can make needed phone calls on my accounts is enough to make me go bug eyed! Somehow I'm managing though and have had successful accounts completed already. Yay! Off to take care of some much neglected domestic duties now. Happy Humpday everyone! |

This post is from from my other blog here I'm a day late getting this up, life has been busy. That's a good thing though. :)
Something happened today between my grandmother and my children. Hurtful words were said and That fine line was crossed, by both parties. When people live in such close quarters, at times moments like that can arise. It's sad to me that it did, here, in this house. It was a good time to have a talk with all involved and to remind how powerful respect is and how far a kind word can go in making one feel. I think lots of people in this day and age get so caught up in the *Me* of things that we forget or take for granted just how special people are to us in our lives. My family and I are very lucky to have what we have and to be able to share it with those important to us, both friends and family. Everyone here is doing better tonight. While some emotions may run deep, I believe there is a lot more understanding that we all need to step back, count our blessings and be thankful for each other. So, I found a poem that sums up how I'm feeling and the point I want to get across. Blessings to you all.... COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS
In order to focus properly, We need to take one step back, To clearly see just what we have Not the things that we lack. While people sleep in the streets, You worry about a bigger, better house? So many suffer loneliness, But you're not happy with your spouse. Many die from hunger, But there's food upon your table. Some people can't even walk, It seems that you are able. There are people dying from cancer, And you have your health. So many are out of work, But, you worry about your wealth? You need shoes for every outfit, Then there's the man who has no feet. Designer clothes and a sports car Or, your life won't be complete. Was your child born a mongrel, Or born defect free? Are all your children still alive, Or die tragically? Open your eyes to the things you have, And count your blessings every day. Just as God gave them to you, He can also take them away. - B.G. Wetherby |

This post is from from my other blog here This weeks theme is Gross. I took this photo of Sugar bear just the other day. He was eating vegi soup and I walked out of the room for a minute, came back to this. He had thrown his bowl across the room, but not before painting his tray with it's contents. Pretty Gross if you ask me! Oh, and notice the look he's giving me, head down, glaring eyes. This is the look I give him when he does something naughty. As you can tell, he's a master of mockery. :) |

This post is from from my other blog here I've been tagged by my friend Ami. So here goes. :) ONE HOMESCHOOL BOOK YOU HAVE ENJOYED: I'm a resource junkie, so one of my favorites that I read a while back was The Ultimate Book of Homeschooling Ideas, by Linda Dobson. Right now, I'm more into homeschooling magazines and websites like The Link and A to Z homeschool. I'm looking for some good Homeschooling your High schooler type books now though.ONE RESOURCE YOU WOULDN'T BE WITHOUT: The Internet. I doubt I need to elaborate why. :)ONE RESOURCE YOU WISH YOU HAD NEVER BOUGHT: All those 'What your child needs to know when' books. Sure they were great at first, then eventually I just started feeling stressed the more I read them. They made me put too much expectation on myself and my children.ONE RESOURCE YOU ENJOYED LAST YEAR: 4-H. We love 4-H! There are so many opportunities in this program now, compared to when I was a kid. It's more than just raising cows ya know. ;)ONE RESOURCE YOU'LL BE USING NEXT YEAR: I'm thinking of using FLVS. Not 100% sure yet. I also know I'll be picking the brains of other moms who are homeschooling high schoolers. Beware, I've got names, numbers and I know how to use them!
ONE RESOURCE YOU'D LIKE TO BUY: Another computer, so the kids have their own to work on, and there is no scuffling for computer time.ONE RESOURCE YOU WISH EXISTED: I wish AOL still had their Homeschool chats. I'm greatful though, that Ann Zeise started chats on her site.ONE HOMESCHOOL CATALOG YOU ENJOY READING: Rainbow Resource It's like a bible, or a phone book. I love it!ONE WEBSITE YOU USE REGULARLY: It's more of a tool, from a site. It's called Stumble Upon. It's a tool I use daily, or nightly I should say. I just stumble through web sites that come up due to the preferences I've set, and I've found some really awesome sites that I have and can use for our homeschooling.TAG OTHER HOMESCHOOLERS: Shannon, Becca ....Ami and Amy already tagged the others I read. |
