Getting my sanity back - I think !

Comment Published at 17:5317:530 comments0 comments53 Visits53 VisitsReport

My god I have been unorganised, tired and frazzled.  At the moment Liam is averaging 2 and a half hours during the night between feeds.  And Harry is getting his 2yr old molars so he is not sleeping well.

With all this going on and getting the 2 kids to and from school I haven't had much time to myself.  When my 2 littlies are asleep I am either ding housework, eating lunch or catching my own forty winks.

But I think I am getting orgainsed and Liam is settling a bit better during the day which will allow me to re-energise.

Harry is just loving Liam.  He dotes on all babies now he is sooo cute.  Liam gets about one hundred kisses a day from him which I am sooo happy about as I was worried about him being jealous but he is just fantastic!  He doesn't try and muscle in when I am feeding or demand attention.  I play with harry when I have finished feeding so he understands about time sharing.  He even helps when I have to change Liam and gets me the wipes and nappies, usually without even asking.

Anyway will try to keep up to date and put photos on soon.

Well I finally had my baby.  His name is Liam and he was born at 11:04pm on Valentines Day (14 Feb).  He weighed around 3000gms (6 pound 10 ounces) they mucked up his birth weight so we can only guestimate.

No drugs, I surprised myself.  A 7 hour labour and all went well.  Here is a photo I will blog more details soon.  Liam is calling for food!!!

How slack have I been!

Comment Published at 18:0518:050 comments0 comments53 Visits53 VisitsReport

Hi everyone.  I am still alive and well.  I can't believe it's nearly been a month since I last blogged.

I am still waiting to have my new little person arrive.  I only have 5 days to go until the due date hopefully go before as I am ready NOW!!!  All is going well but having a little trouble getting comfy to sleep.

Been flat out the last month, My little boy started school, he looks so cute I will try and post their photo tomorrow in their uniforms!

Only one at home now and he is loving the freedom to go and do whatever he wants without the other two smothering him.  he is actually very peaceful and content by himself.  We play alot together in the morning which means his midday sleep is very good.

Have to go now and finish the housework before he wakes up.  Sorry for the laziness on Minti, hopefully the next time I am on I will have some great news!

Hot Days and Hot Nights

Comment Published at 20:2320:230 comments0 comments64 Visits64 VisitsReport

Had a couple of hot days and nights here. 25 degrees celsius last night, no air conditioning, had the fan on all night.  Uncomforatable sleep.  With four weeks to go I hope we don't have too many more nights like last night.  It is usually my hubby that roasts but at the moment it's me.

Last day of work tomorrow and then I am home with the kids for a couple of weeks before they return to school.  Dylan starts Prep this year so exciting.  At least I get to spend two weeks with them at home before bubs comes along and they start school.  I am taking them to the movies next week and Beth to a jewellery class.

I love warm days but bring me the cooler nights please.

Last week of work

Comment Published at 16:0016:001 comments1 comments80 Visits80 VisitsReport

The countdown is on I have only 4 days (inc. today) left of work, yippee!!!!  Don't get me wrong I enjoy work but I am looking forward to my 5 month break.  I have only 5 weeks to go until my fourth (and final) bundle of joy enters the world, unless of course he/she comes early.

Had my midwives appointment the other night and everything is going great.  I must say this pregnancy has gone fast and with so little to go is going very well.  I haven't had as many problems as my two previous and I am actually getting sleep.

Fingers crossed the last few weeks go well.  Bubs is moving about sooo much I think she/he is ready to come out and play now!

Happy New Year

Comment Published at 15:3215:320 comments0 comments38 Visits38 VisitsReport

Hope you all had a safe and happy new year.  I was in bed before midnight, had to get up at 5am to go to work. Although I was awoken by our dog trying to scratch his way out of the gate thanks to all of the fireworks going off in the area.  So I could have stayed up anyway.  Hubby had to go and sit with him for 20 minutes whilst they were going off to keep him calm.  Considering fireworks are illegal here there were still so many, someone made some trips up to Canberra.

Very quiet at work this morining everyone must be in bed with hangovers.

Have a great 2007, may you all stick to your resolutions.  I know I will, my hubby is getting the snip and he isn't getting out of that one!!

Didn't get it

Comment Published at 12:1212:120 comments0 comments45 Visits45 VisitsReport

Well my boss told me I wasn't successful with my promotion.  He said my resume was .5 off from being the best.  He said my board let me down on the day.  I got a couple of questions wrong.  I don't know who got it yet, but I have a fair idea, it will probably be the one a few of us consider to be the bosses 'golden child'.  It's unfortunate these days that with our job it appears to be who you know not what you know.  I spoke to this person after he sat his board and weboth got the same questions wrong so anyway that's the way it goes, you win some you lose some.

I know that my colleagues think it should be me that get's the promotion as they have more respect for me.  But that's okay I will go for the next one which should be coming up winthin a couple of months.

I mentioned to the boss about his comments he said to me a couple of months ago, he said 'you had a chance until you got pregnant' he says he doesn't remember saying it and if he did it was a joke.  I told him I could make it all very difficult right now if I wanted to but I am not that sort of person but just to keep in mind what he says to people as he could get himself into trouble.  He appreciated it and apologised so that's cool.

Well life goes on and there is always next time.

Iron Test

Comment Published at 12:0412:040 comments0 comments50 Visits50 VisitsReport

Have to go and get a blood test today. My iron levels are apparently dangerously low. I have been on iron tablets for the last couple of weeks to boost it up so the test today is to see if it's worked. I have my midwives appointment next week when they will check the results and probably yell at me.  I haven't been taking the tablets everyday.  It's hard to remember to take them.. THe midwife said put them next to your bed so you see them in the morning.  I get up at 5am some mornings to go to work so I don't even look at my side table.  They said then have them at night with dinner, but if I am on arvo shift then I am not home until 10:30pm.  There is no standard time I can take them.  I have them in my bag and take them when I remember.

Hopefully the level has boosted a little bit, I have 6 weeks to go and will keep taking them. 2 weeks left of work can't wait to finish.  I have 5 months off and then return to work and hubby will be Mr Mum.

We forget sometimes how lucky we are

Comment Published at 16:0616:060 comments0 comments51 Visits51 VisitsReport

Walking out of the shopping centre last night after doing some Xmas shopping my hubby and I were astounded by the blanket of smoke covering the area.  The fires are happening over a hundred kilometres away in the mountains but they have been burning for weeks now.  There doesn't seem to the light at the end of the tunnel for along time yet.  We just can't believe how bad hte smoke is.  Even during Ash Wednesday many years ago when I could see the smoke from my house where the actual fire was there was no smoke in our area.

The smoke is that bad on some days that we can't hang out our washing outside because they will just end up smelling like smoke.  It looks like the fires are only around the corner not miles and miles away.

I had a work colleague complaining the other day about it and not being able to hang out her clothes.  I had to remind her that if it is this bad here imagine what the poor families where the actual fires are going through so stop complaining about a bit of smoke, at least she has a home at the moment.

It's times like these that you realise how lucky you are and not take anything for granted.

I wish all the people who are in the thick of the fires the best of luck and my thoughts are with you.  Please be safe.
