Support group for ADD/ADHD minti kids

Comment Published at 18:0818:080 comments0 comments13 Visits13 VisitsReport

I was searching the net the other day to see if there were any support groups online for kids with ADD/ADHD and I didnt find any.I found them for the parents but the kids seem to have slipped through the cracks almost as if they dont count.

I have a child with severe ADHD and she would love someone to talk to about her condition so she knows that what she does is normal for kids like her and she doesnt feel so ostracised. She also expressed a wish for other children with the condition and their young family members be able to talk as well so they can understand the disorder better and therefore understand those with ADD/ADHD in the hope that they can also be more understanding of the condition and behaviours that can come about due to it.

As a parent I am sick and tired of hearing what a bad mother I am because many think this condition is a result of bad parenting or parents who couldnt be bothered disciplining their children. I have been threatened with DoCs (Welfare) because I medicate my daughter with a poison and I take her to a Doctor who wants nothing more than to prescribe drugs for these children so he can get kickbacks from the Government. These things couldnt be further from the truth but people are set in their ways and tell me this is something new to describe the children of today and it wasnt around when they were younger or in their parents time. The truth is it was, it was just labeled differently and the drugs they give were being given to Juvenile Delinquents in Prison as early as the 1960's and possibly even earlier.

If we have something where our children can talk to others like themselves and explain things to other children who have friends and family member with the condition then these children might change the older generations way of thinking and pave a new future of understanding and guidance for our children and the others like them that come into this world.

If you think this is something your child would be interested in and you feel safe letting them take part let me know so we can get it up and running on here to give these kids a voice.
