First appearances caused me to think that CJ's was going to be tatty and run down, I was later to be proved right.
Whilst my 3 year old daughter was playing in the Under 5's area she was hit in the face with a large mat by a child who was certainly over the age of 5 and unsupervised. On closer inspection (after calming my daughter down) this mat was only padded on one side on the other side it was MDF with staples sticking out (I took photos on my phone)this was the side that had hit Amy in the face, I went to the reception area which was manned by a teenager and asked if there was supposed to be a member of staff supervising the under 5 area I was told no that it was down to a parent or guardian to supervise the children so I told him what had happened and was told there was nothing they could do. I asked for their accident book to be told that he didn't know where it was, I asked for the manager to be told he was busy so I went to the cafe to find another member of staff who found the manager who was very rude and said there was no need for the incident to go in the accident book as it was a public place! On leaving I insisted on it being put in the accident book and also asked for their public liability insurance to be told that because I wasn't an "official" person I was not able to see it.
The toilets were dirty and the play equipment was torn and taped in places and could really do with a good clean. In short this place was unsafe and I will not be returning.
This is a copied from my own comment left at Netmums where it turns out there has been other negative reviews.

This is the board that Amy was hit in the face with by a much older child in the "Under 5's Area" at CJ's Playland Burgess Hill.

This is another board which was left laying around at CJ's playland, there were numerous boards like this that were able to be picked up and thrown around.

These are the ladies toilets at CJ' s playland, ( I am told the mens were worse!) The plastic balls you see beside the toilet are from the ball pit and were picked up amd promptly put back in the ball pit without being washed (personally I would have thrown them away) |
