Me and My Family

[see all me and my family]
On our holiday January 2009
On our holiday January 2009

Hi my name is Toni-Rae,

I come from a large mixed up family in the South of Australia. I have four sisters of which I am the middle, but seem to be the one ironing out the problems amongst them!

I was married in 200 at the tender age of 18 to a wonderful man two years my senior... very special to have someone of that age be mature enough to commit his life to me! We started our family just before my 21st birthday, and now we have three lovely children and number four in September this year.

My husband and I are bible based Christians, which means we believe what God has written in the Bible and stick to that rather than be part of a religion and have the added laws etc that come with that.

We bought our first house before we had our first child, as we would never have been able to afford one, and because of that have managed to get in before the market prices went up too much. We live in an old house which we are renovating...slowly! We love restoring things and my husband likes to dabble in woodwork, although he rarely gets spare time to do it.

I'm a crafty Mum, when I can afford the time, or I'm not too had it! I love sewing (teaching myself so not fantastic at it) scrapbooking, making bows for girls hair, taking photos, painting, restoring old furniture and keeping our gardens in an ok way Lol!

Our eldest son started school this year and we have already felt the strain of it on our purse strings! We decided to put him in a Christian private school, which is quite cheap (for schools $2,500 per year) because the school we were zoned to is one of the worst ...

I am sitting at the lounge table...

Comment Published at 04:4704:470 comments0 comments11 Visits11 VisitsReport

I am sitting at the lounge table typing in this blog after Samuel took us out to KFC for tea.. not sure how many chickens we ate between us.... But it was quite alot! He's had his brothers (two of them; Peter and Simon) over all day putting insulation back into our ceiling after having  bodge job done by a local handy person 'restoring' our roof.

The local handyman cleaned it, but didnt care HOW he cleaned it. He sprayed UP our tiles with the high pressure cleaner, and the water (and mud) went through our entire ceiling cavity ruined our old insulation and came through our ceilings and has left large muddy circles throughout our house. We first noticed the muddy circles in the newly renovated kitchen, which has white ceilings (now with a few extra brown circles) We found out later that the ridge capping hadnt even been done, just smoothed over with whatever they use and painted over it. We noticed it when it was raining and the roof started dripping!

So; we now have brandnew ceiling insulation! Woohoo! our house was like a tomb come 5pm! We are now waiting for Daddy to come back from dropping off his brothers at home.

We got a plumber out a month ago to see if he could replace a few parts of our old gravity fed hot water system in the roof. Only to be told that its too old for replacement parts and we need a NEW system! Seems like money is FLYING out of our pockets lately! Them the joys of owning a house! Got a quote for $4,500! But with the current Government grants we'll receive up to $3,500 back in energy rebates... so its not TOO bad!

My Princess has had a temperature of 39- 40 degrees last night and tonight. It goes away during the day, down to 37. She has at least four teeth all coming through at the same time. We are just keeping on top of the panadol and keeping an eye on her temperature every half hour. We live less than two minutes away from the hospital, so feel ok with that. She is very happy and its hard to tell she is even sick or has a temp.

Gotta go put the boys to bed now Daddy is home.

I am stuck inside on a beautiful day because

Comment Published at 20:4220:420 comments0 comments4 Visits4 VisitsReport

I am stuck inside on a beautiful day because we have yet another tradesperson over doing renovations to our house! He's currently scrubbing 50 years or so of mud, grime and moss off of our roof! The concrete all around the house is full of mud! I'm glad its school holidays and Grandma offered to take the boys off of my hands for a sleepover today! We were inside all day yesterday because of the cleaning and they drove me mad by watching 'KungFu Panda' three times in a row and doing the 5 and 3 year old fighting and 'touching'!!

Princess is sleeping through all the noise of the pump and generator and is quite happy although she is teething three teeth at once! My children seem to sleep through the pain which is most helpful!

I am currently feeling quite well although pregnant with number four! Number four was a surprise and now I cant wait to meet him/ her. We are only 18 weeks into the pregnancy and I have told Samuel that I dont want to find out the sex of this bub until I peel the blanket back, as we are not planning any more and we found out with all three. So this is a very trying time as the morpholgy scan ( such a horrible name for such a beautiful thing) is less than two weeks away! Not sure whether I can go on my other pregnancies for the sex as I was violently ill with all three (mostly for my little princess) and I have only been VERY tired and occassionally nauseas; very strange indeed! My friend told me how to find out the sex without Samuel knowing in the scan.. she said ask how the ovaries are going! Lol! I dont think he minds finding out.. it would be alot easier as we have SO many clothes for both sexes would be nice to be able to get rid of the ones we dont need!

I have needed to get the maternity clothes out a few months sooner than the others as I have stuck out sooner due to the muscles not fully going back in last time... ooops! Have been discussing a vasectomy with Samuel but he's not into showing private bits to the doctor.. I feel for him, but I'm so used to showing 'down there' off to the midwives and doctors etc. Still don't 'like' doing it, but seems to be something that has to happen. Then you get to the birthing and then you forget HOW many people are there watching you half naked pushing out your bundle! Although, Samuel said he remembered because they are all watching "HIS" wife! Nice to have a protective husband :)

Well, its cool inside and its making me need to go to the toilet frequently aswell as the little one sitting in there! Until next time I FINALLY write in this blog... next time the boys are at Grandmas and Princess is in bed and I cant go outside! LOL!

Today is the cleanup day from the weekend

Comment Published at 01:3801:380 comments0 comments18 Visits18 VisitsReport

Today we have had a few tradespeople out! Over the weekend our whole family had the flu!

Samuel (my husband) came down with it first, then Tobias (2.5 years), then Malachi (5 years) on the Saturday. I was glad because I hadnt got it and our baby girl (Emelyn) hadn't either.

It was a throw uppy flu - YECK!! So had the carpet cleaners out today! So my floors and couch are all goopy. and I was recommended to go to bed early because they will be wet til tomorrow!

The other trades person I had out today was a cabinet maker! He measured up my kitchen for a complete refit!

I've had my kitchen in a shambles for about a year now!

My husband wanted to do it all himself in his January holidays, but most days the temperature got over 39 degrees! so he did what he could when he could.. rip off foam ceiling tiles, pull out the old white ant eaten door frames, stripped the glue off the ceiling (from the foam tiles) and stripped paint off of any other wooden surface as well as sanding and plastering the ceiling to make it smooth.

My oven thermostat has been broken for a while, the back two elements (small one and the large one) have been disconnected because they trip the safety switch and the oven door doesnt shut properly!

My bench has water rot around the whole sink are, and when I wash the dishes, my drawers get water in them, also a puddle of water swims around to the prep area of the bench cos there is a sunken area in the laminate top.

One of my taps broke a few months ago and my husband repaired it with trusty duck tape!

The skirting boards have all been ripped off, ready to put the new flooring in (three months ago LoL!) and the door frames (two) are held on with trusty duck tape where the light switches are!

So, as you might guess, I'm terribly excited about the tradeperson coming in!! Lol! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE that my husband has put all the effort in, he just doesn't get enough time to do a large job like this. He gets home from work, ad we all want our time with him. He's a fantastic Husband and a wonderful Father, I couldn't deal with my two boys without his moral support (because they are such cheeky red heads!)

After this weekend I am SO happy my husband bought me an automatic washing machine at the beginning of the year! Til then I had a twin tub! I'm still in awe at how it manages to do it all without me emptying the tub every 20 mintues or so! The kids and I are often caught out watching the washing go around and around! Lol!

Because of all the sickness, I've washed about 8 loads of washing this weekend! Now after this blog.. I need to get up and put it all away! Eeek! Bit hard when half the dining setting is is the bedrooms aswell as two lounge suites!  ,,, Maybe the washing can wait til tomorrow! Lol!
