This post is from from my other blog here These last two days have been pretty tough. A couple of my kids (students) have confided some pretty big problems that they are going through. I really can't blog about it but I hope my fumbling attempt at helping them for atleast a short time did some good. I didn't have any real answers to the problems facing them. I feel good that they trusted me enough to come talk to me, but in the end I had to let a friend ( a counselor ) help them. You'd think after all that I've been through in my life that I wouldn't so be so damm upset and worried for them. Those kids shouldn't have to go through stuff like that. On a more positive note I'm leaving with Izzy, Saturday morning to see my parents for a week.

This post is from from my other blog here Today I took my 14 year chip in "AA" today. I got off work, and had diner with some friends from the meeting, at Mimi's. I dove over to the meeting after dinner, and as I walked up to the building, I saw a man, obviously a transient walking along a jogging path near the building. He looked so tired and alone. Things could have been different, that could have been me. I don't know how I've survived 14 years without a drink. Sometimes it seems as if I've just fumbled the program to this point. But I've made it this far. Izzy sure has taught me alot lately. A 19 month old little girl is helping me grow into a better man. It's truly amazing how some things work out.

This post is from from my other blog here Britty pitched another great game today. I'm very proud of her. She also left on a History trip for back East with her classmates. She'll be gone for almost two weeks, touring historical sites in the North East around Washington DC and New York. I'll miss her, it's just not the same without that teenage attitude. I hope she enjoys the trip. It's nice to be able to do that for her. I want her to know more about our country. I asked her to think seriously about the people buried at Arlington National Cemetery when they visit it. I just watched a National Geographic documentary about it and it really made me appreciate the people that have died defending our country. It's a sad place, but I guess necessary. I bought her a new camera before she left and hopefully I be able to post some of the pictures she takes.

This post is from from my other blog here Just to busy to do much writing lately. Britty has been doing very well in the Loma Linda softball tournament, even pitching a shut out one game. She had two handbell concerts last weekend, one at La Sierra University in Riverside, CA and the other at the Palm Desert SDA church. At La Sierra several other groups also performed and it all sounded wonderful. She'll be leaving for 12 days, Wednesday for a History tour back East. Izzy is doing fantastic and is growing and learning new things everyday. She is so smart and mimics everything. Debbie and I are both fine, just trying to keep up with everything. Sometimes it seems as if we'll never be able to rest. We did manage to get out Sunday night and celebrate my 14th birthday, and that was nice, no Izzy to feed or walk around, no Britty to roll her eyes and give us attitude, just the two of us.

This post is from from my other blog here It was nice to be back with my kids. I missed them when I was in class. Everything went according to plan in class and no problems with the substitute. Izzy and I played outside with the neighbor kids for a few hours in the evening. Drawing in chalk on the driveway and throwing the ball. It was a nice evening and now it's getting late.

This post is from from my other blog here Today I attended some training put on by the U.S. Department of Justice. It is called the Student Problem Identifying and Resolving Issues Together (SPIRIT) program. Just common sense talking to kids about problems at schools. Not very informative or interesting.

This post is from from my other blog here It was a beautiful weekend, no clouds, just some wind, but great weather. I went to church on Saturday, came home did my yard work and played with Izzy outside. I visited with neighbors and felt really good about things. it reminded me of all the good things in my life. I know all kinds of things are going on in the world, but i pretend it's just my little slice of life and forget the rest. It keeps me happy. I think, if it wasn't for that, I'd loose my focus on the things that matter most to me. Sometimes I wish I'd never have to leave Beaumont and I would stay "protected" from the world. I know that won't happen but it's so easy to be happy lately here. I had pumpernickel bread today. It really made me happy. I have good memories of eating pumpernickel bread. It's funny how something that small can really make me happy. Izzy and I played outside all day, and I did take a two hour nap when she took hers. She only slept for about an hour, but Debbie let me sleep longer. Naps are cool, I liked that. I felt like this weekend was the best one in along time.

This post is from from my other blog here It went right from the very beginning. Coffee with Ryan and Roger at Starbucks before school. I had a good time with the kids in class. The fun really started when I got home. Aubry and Kimmie my little neighbor girls came over for the evening. It was fun. We bbq'd some burgers, had baked beans and tator tots with fruit punch Kool Aid. Darn, Kool Aid is the thing for me. We watched "Flushed Away," danced to Hannah Montana and generally had a fun time. Debbie said that's what I have to look foreword too when we get all our kids. I really want two more. Hopefully Izzy's adoption finalizes soon and we can work on getting two more from the County. I like a busy house. It makes me happy.

This post is from from my other blog here Are all the moments when things just don't go right just opportunities for growth. I think so. I am the eternal optimist, my life is just getting better everyday. I'm always working on being a better person. It's what really matters to me.

This post is from from my other blog here I was up early with Izzy, 4:45 AM to be exact. That's getting to be too early even for me. It was a pot of Starbucks French roast for me, and breakfast for her and the dogs. I hate feeding three right away in the morning, too much noise and movement. Debbie and Britty slept in while I played with Izzy. The wind was really blowing hard outside all day long, so we couldn't go out and play. Izzy and I both went down for a nap at about 10:00 AM for about 2 hours and then got back up and played some more. The girls went shopping this afternoon and I cleaned house and messed around on the Internet. Pizza and Salad for dinner. Then a bath for Izzy. I really like giving Izzy a bath in the evening. She loves to play in the tub. She is so beautiful. I really like being a father although it does have it's moments.

This post is from from my other blog here It's a lazy day for me. Izzy is asleep, Debbie is working and Britty is at a rodeo with friends. I'm trying to catch up with my calendar and I started a Tumble log. I'll post the URL from the Tumble log once I've got it finished, and bought a domain for it. I missed going to church today, but I've been reading from the "Daily Reflections" and that always helps to keep me focused on the important stuff. Today it talks about over coming self-will. It's something that plagued me for years, but having Izzy is doing wonders for that. She's really changed for the better. I'm also reading "Everyday Blessings" by Max Lucado each day, today it's about the Spirit freeing us from our sins. I didn't really get anything from that. I feel He already loves me and that I am his son, so I don't worry about it much. The wind is still blowing hard and it's cold outside. I haven't even thought about going for a walk with Izzy. She really likes being outside.

This post is from from my other blog here I don't think we'll make it to church today. Izzy and Debbie are both sick with a cold. The wind is blowing hard in "The Pass" and I think we'll all stay indoors.

This post is from from my other blog here "Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body." Richard Steele (1672-1729) Dublin-born British essayist Read across America was today. I took 26 kids from my school to read Dr. Suess books to Kindergarten through Third grade students at a nearby elementary school, Cloverdale. We all had a blast. I was so happy to see my kids excited to read. They laughed and joked about how they made mistakes, but the little kids didn't even notice. I think it really gave them a boost. I have some very good memories of teaching at elementary school. I wished I would have taken some pictures. The smiles today made me feel so good inside. Someday I'll go back to elementary school and teach. The rest of the day went well.

This post is from from my other blog here Like my day at the CUE Conference in Palm Springs really matters. It was boring and typical teacher n00b tech stuff. Nothing at all interesting. I thought the guys from Wikispaces said they planned on showing up. The classes are too basic and the questions drive me up a wall. Atleast the kids ask good questions, like if I like Jolly Ranchers or not, or if my Blackberry is as cool as my Moto Q. Apple's booth is tiny. I guess this conference isn't for me. I should have gone to SCALE with Eugene. Maybe I can still make it to Linux Expo or Defcon.
