I had my trial at Hogs Breath last night. OMG i am surrounded by infants!!! The average age of the waitresses there... 17! I shit you not! I was talking to one of them, she was 15. I was so shocked! I was listening to their convos all about how they want someone to buy alcohol for them, drive them around, help them get into pubs!! All i could think... OMG I am SOOOOO OLD!!! I dont know where all the people are that have kids that she was telling me about?? Must be the ones on day shifts. Well i hope so anyway...

I realised while i was there that there may be more to this place than i thought originally. I asked why there were so many new people. I met 4 people that had only started within the past month. The guy i was working with said, they just cant keep staff. I was like ok... I will tell you why i think they cant keep them... Because i found out that they are only paying $14.50 an hour (and that is for my age, so image what the 15 year old is on)!!! OMG i have never been paid this low ever.. not even when i was 16... Anyway, it is because they are paying under the cafe award, not hotels. Even thou i am in the bar.. I think that is wrong, but anyway, i am only there for like 16 hours a week. So im not too worried. It will still be more than what i get from centrelink.

I was sort of expecting it to be busy there, but it wasnt. It was dead in fact. I was quite bored really. I really hope it is busier tonight, because i think i will go insane if it is that quiet all the time! They did say it was a rather slow night there last night.

Anyway, im going to go now. Austin is asleep and i want to have a shower and stuff before he wakes up!

YAY!! YAY!! YAY!!!

Im so excited!! I was just about to go to bed and the phone rang.... It was the owner from Hogs Breath!! I got the job!! YAY!! I have to do a trial tomorrow and Sat nights to see how i like it and then i will start the week after i come back from Sydney!!!!

She ended up finding 1 full time person and 2 casuals, so YAY I GOT THE JOB!!!!!!! Im so happy.

I was starting to think that i didnt get it coz she said she would call on Wednesday and i didnt hear anything, but YAY!!

Oh i am so excited!!!! Anyway, i am going to bed now. Need to sleep. Tired. Excited. Tired. Back is aching. Gym in the morning...

One more time.... I GOT THE JOB!! YAY!!!!!!!

Well.. it sort of went well. She said if i could work full time she would have hired me on the spot. Unfortunately i cant do that. So here i am hoping that she doesnt find anyone who can work full time. If she can find 1 other person to do casual, then i should get it. I certainly have enough experience and whatnot. I have never been in this situation before. haha in all my working life, i have never actually thought i might not get a job. It will be a new feeling if i dont get it. I have never been rejected before LOL. So everyone keep your fingers crossed for me!!

An update on Austin...

He is finally getting over this goddamn chest and throat infection, which is great because his breathing was really worrying me last week. The doctor did give him antobiotics, so it must have been pretty bad, as they dont tend to give them out much anymore. He should finish them by friday. So hopefully he will be right as rain by then.

My clever little man has also cut his last baby tooth!!! Well his last one til his 2yr old molars. He had a fussy afternoon on Saturday and woke up screaming at about 3am Sunday morning. I didnt know what it was, so i just gave him some panadol (coz it usually is teeth for him) and put him back to bed. Well when i was feeding him on Sunday morning i noticed a tiny little white bump in his gum where his very last tooth is going to be!! So YAYAYAYAYAY YAY no more teething for me for a little while!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope. I dont think there is much room left in his mouth to fit anymore teeth actually LOL.

Hmmmm what else. He is walking everywhere, it is so cute. He does look like tinman sometimes still when his knees are straight. Sometimes he bends em, but sometimes not. He also still has the hands up in the air thing going on too. ET phone home PMSL!!

I have a job interview thismorning at Hogs Breath. I had been thinking about going back to work for a while now, just a few days a week. But so far there had been nothing that would suit me, either the hours were too long, or it was night shift.. neither of which i can do just yet.

Then on Saturday, Shannon and i went out for brekkie and i was reading the local paper, and there was a job advertised, the hours are 11am-3pm. Absolutely perfect for me! When i called she said it was a very understanding environment, many of the woman who work there have small children, so they know what it is like!!.... Ohh yay, i am so excited!

Now i just have to keep my fingers crossed that i get it!! Only thing i am worried about, is Shannon and i are going away for 3 days next week. Hope that doesnt affect my chances at getting it!!

Please everyone, keep your fingers crossed for me!!

I am bored and still sick. I have spent most of today trying to comfort Austin. Poor little bugger is so sick. He must be over it by now. He has had this cold for 2 weeks now. I guess on an up note thou, now he is coughing alot, so i guess it is on its way out. He is doing this really strange breathing thing, and i am a little worried it might be asthma, but i dont know. I have never had it, and Shannon hasnt had it since he was a kid, so i dont know what i am meant to look out for??? Well i hope it isnt anyway.

He is very clever thou, while he has been sick i have been trying to teach him to blow his nose, which he does do sometimes, the rest of the time i have to fight with him just to wipe it, but i have found making it a blowing game has helped a little.. sometimes.. We also taught him to cover his mouth when he coughs, which he picked up straight away.

I have to say, i am just blown away by how quickly he is learning everything at the moment. Some things we only show him once and he remembers. It is amazing what their little brains do!!!

I joined the gym last week and went for my first work out yesterday. It wasnt as hard as i expected it to be. I thought for sure my legs would ache today, but they are good, i am just a little tender around my shoulder blades, i am thinking from the rowing machine or the weights. Not sure yet, will see which one hurts more tomorrow when i go.

Well i am sure i have more to write, but i think i will go and do something constructive?? Or maybe i will stay here LOL dont know yet.

Last night my friend ran in the 3000m Steplechase at the olympics. He came in 6th place (so no medal unfortunately) but he did get a new personal best of 8:16:37

We are very proud of him and i just want to say congratulations to him for doing such a fantastic job!!

On a slightly less happy note, my darling boy is still sick and he is miserable. I feel aweful coz there is nothing i seem to be able to do to make him feel better :(

Anyway, will write a better blog later on, Austin is awake and cant breathe too well.

I just watched my friend run in the mens 3000m Steplechase!!! He came 6th, but he has made it into the final!!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited!! He ran the race in 8:17:97 It is his personal best and it was a super fast race. Of course anything can happen in the final, but OMG...GO YOUCEF!!!!!!!!!!!!

For anyone that wants to watch it, it is monday night at about 11.10pm!!

I am bored.

my house is freezing, and i am getting really sick of being here alone all the time. I miss having someone to talk to. Even if it is just small talk. God i would even like some uncomfortable silence at the moment LOL na not really. But i do wish Shannon was home. I guess i shouldnt complain, he will be here tomorrow.

My nose has moved on now from dripping like a tap to blocked up so badly that i can't breathe at all. Just lovely. I am still coughing like a sick horse and my throat is now killing me!

Last night i sat on the computer til about 2am, that is probably the latest i have been up in over a year! Seriously, and i dont know why, i took some night cold and flu tablets, some medicine for my cough and nothing... i think i got to sleep about 3am.. Austin woke up at 6.30 LOL Strangely enough thou, i felt really good today (other than being sick i mean) i wasnt tired or cranky... just sick.

On a more positive note, i joined the gym today. I go  in at 10am tomorrow to meet with my trainer and to sort out some sort of program for me. Will have to be weighed (yuck) and measured (again, yuck) but i guess it has to be done. The reason i am going is to loose some weight, so i guess i sorta need to know where i am starting.

Well thats my whinge for the day.

Well this sucks! I am sick. I hate being sick. I have turned into this sooky whingy lala person. I have a nasty cough and feel like a am going to throw up everywhere. Austin is a little bit sick too. Not as bad as me yet.. But you can guarantee that as soon as i am better he will get bad!

Anyway, i called today about putting him into daycare for 1 day a week. I have decided that i need a rest. i have zero time for me, and the house, well, the house just looks like world war 3 constantly and i need some time to get that done without munchkin bum at my feet trying to pull my pants down LOL. So i have called and there are a few places that they can place him straight away cos i am only looking for 1 day. So hopefully it wont cost too much.

I am joining the Gym tomorrow. I was going to go today, but i have been running around most of the day and by the time we got home, well, i just couldnt be bothered, so i had a nap with Austin and when we got up it was time for me to make his dinner. I have decided that i need to take some action and loose this extra weight i am carrying. I may not look all that big but i am really feeling heavy. I am used to being a size 8-10 and i am now pushing 12-14. So i am going to stop whinging about it and do something about it!!!

Well that is about all i have to tell today. I am trying to upload some pics now, so hopefully my next blog will have some happy snaps.

Well it had to happen i guess... My gorgeous little man who i love so so much is now 1!

We were very lucky to wake up to a beautiful day on Saturday. It had rained for 2 days before hand and i was very worried where i was going to put everyone if it rained for his party. Well it turned out to be just perfect.

Austin was a little overwhelmed to begin with. He seemed to be scared by all the people there and sort of clinged to me and Shannon, but it didnt take him long to get into the swing of things.

He got lots and lots of cool pressies and heaps of clothes. He was very happy to have all of his family and friends there to play with.

Thank you to everyone who sent him birthday wishes. I only just got to show them to him today. But he did say "oooooh ooooh ooooooooh" ... I think that means thanks hehe.

Well thismorning i finally managed to get some pics of Austin walking!!! I have attempted before but they always come out blurry or he falls down hehe.

Today i am attempting the impossible!!

I am sending Austin up to his grandparents house for the day and i am going to try to de-clutter my house. I am beginning to realise that this job is going to be alot bigger than i had originally planned.

My mission today... To find somewhere for Shannon's guitar and amp, which currently live in the loungeroom behind the recliners... To organise the mess that is the computer room, including organising all of Shannons paperwork that Austin loves to play with... To Set up the spare bed in the computer room... To Go thru Austins room and get rid of all clothes that dont fit him anymore... To (maybe) re-arrange our bedroom... To get rid of all the crap in the dining room and kitchen and just do a general tidy up, hopefully including all the washing... 

After i have done these things, i then need to do an all over clean up. Not that my house is that dirty, but while i have time without Austin i am doing as much as i can!!!

Well on that note, id best be off!!!

When will this end??? My poor little man is in agony! He is getting very little sleep (well on his own) which means i am getting almost NO sleep. I used to be able to sleep soundly with him beside me, but now, he moves around so much, it wakes me up every 10 mins!

On a positive note, i took Fi's advice and stuck a shirt that i was wearing in there with him thisarvo and tonight and both times he has gone to sleep without a fuss. So either he is comforted by the smell of me, or he is getting over the pain... I dont know!

Over the weekend Shannon finally got to see what it is really like when he is like this. It seems that he always seems to get sick on a monday and better on a friday. But Shannon was up with him at midnight on saturday night til he started really screaming, then it was back to me. Last night we were laying in bed and he says to me "Has he been this bad before?" I was like "UH YEAH!" Oh how i wish he really knew what i go thru sometimes. I think sometimes he thinks it is all fun and games. We sit around playing and singing songs all day. He doesnt really realise that when Austin is not well, it is like a torture chamber in this house!! LOL

Anyway, i guess there is a positive side to all of this... He has only got a few more teeth to go for now and he wont remember it!!

I know i have done this myself. I have made the situation worse but I simply cant keep on going like this. I have been nursing Austin to sleep whenever he is teething or sick or whatever (which has been alot lately). It was ok most of the time, but since last weeks performance, he wont sleep on his own! As soon as he is asleep i will try to put him into his cot, but as soon as i place him in there, he is standing up screaming at me!!!!

Dont get me wrong, once he is asleep (in the cot) he sleeps really well. But i seem to be spending hours of my day either nursing him to sleep or then resettling him once he is standing up screaming at me.

I am getting nothing done, i am so far behind in everything i need to do it is p*ssing me off! I am at the end of my tether! I have just left him in there to cry it out, i had to have a shower so i wouldn't hear him. How cruel am i? But it worked. He is asleep.

Am i a bad mummy? I know he is in pain, i know he is cranky. I would prefer to do the cry it out thing when he isn't teething... But he is ALWAYS teething.. so what can i do?????

It sucks that i have to do this on my own, and i feel aweful for making him cry. But i dont know if there is anything else i can do. I need him to learn to go to sleep on his own again.
