Mouse in the House!!!

Comment Published at 16:0116:0129 comments29 comments33 Visits33 VisitsReport

It's official, there must be a plague of the little things!! Last night I got up and WHOA, there's a mouse in the house, next to the TV.  *massive goosebumps*

The cat was sound asleep!! Come on cat, wake up and GET IT!!!! Did she?? No way! I was not impressed!!! I kept nudging her until she did finally wake up and move but by then it was to late, the mouse had ran off. I wasn't going to look for it LOL  At least not at 4 in the morning!!!

Ok, so its off the get a mouse trap!!! Fingers, toes, legs, arms and eyes crossed it works!!!!!!! First time!!!!!!!

I'm getting paranoid as I walk around LOL Where's that cat???

Any tips on getting rid of the thing would be welcome!

Re: Mouse in the House!!!

Dear Cath many thanks once again for my morning giggle, so good for the soul. Have you & Tracey got a thing going with mice in the house?????????

I couldn't harm the little fellows but for some reason they also give me shivers....Steve uses peanut butter in traps for rats and  mice he has found "Talon" is alot better than "Ratsack" it seems to have lost it's effectiveness over the years. But "Talon" does the trick for us and you don't see the end result as they go outside to vanish, can't even say the word!

But like with having traps around the home, you would have to be so very careful where you put them, with children around.

I wish you well in your endeavour  to rid your home of mice, gee hope Marg doesn't read this....heeheee!

Love Janice xxxx

Re: Mouse in the House!!!

I was always under the impression if you don't like mice thenget a cat but obviously that advice has gone out the window. So I'm afraid you will have to set a trap with chocolate instead of cheese.

Re: Mouse in the House!!!

oh boy, those are not fun!  I read somewhere that one great way to get rid of mice is to take a cotton ball and soak it with pepermint oil, not imitaion or liqure (they will just get drunk, lol.  But apparently they hate the smell.  So put some where ever you see a crack in the wall or behind the appliances...Good luck, I know how you feel as we had them 2 years ago in the house.

Re: Mouse in the House!!!

OK, I don't mind the peppermint smell if it means they go!!! There's no cracks that I can see, the house is brand new. I will however put it under EVERYTHING!!! lol

Re: Mouse in the House!!!

Poor mouse! lol.  When you bait the traps, use crunchy peanut butter!  The love the stuff and if you put a bit of bigger peanut under the bait hook, they have to work to get it and it sets the trap off better.

Re: Mouse in the House!!!

Don't ask me!...Lol....cats are pretty useless in the mouse department...well, all mine seem to be when i had them, unless of course it was some species that was nearly extinct, then they had no trouble!!

Re: Mouse in the House!!!

The cat loves hunting ordinarily, I don't get what her problem is! I get all kinds of gifts at the door! She even caught a mouse once before, so it's got me baffled!!!

Re: Mouse in the House!!!

Cath, your cat must be too happy and full of food... Hahaha, the mouse must be feeling pretty confident.  Just remember, you are bigger and you are the boss of both of them.  The mouse is meant to be afraid of you ; )

Re: Mouse in the House!!!

I've had a good talk to the cat and filled her in with her job description. She just looked back at me with a glazed look in her eyes LOL I'm not scared of the mouse per se, I just don't want to go near it!!! hahahahaha

Re: Mouse in the House!!!

Oh yucky! No suggestions from me I'm sorry, unless you want to borrow my cat? He is deaf but a very good mouse catcher! The problem is he likes to play with them and show off how clever he is at catching them first................

Re: Mouse in the House!!!

OH I know the feeling! We have had mice in our house since we moved here 6 years ago & only just recently finally got all the holes filled in that they could get in & haven't had one in weeks! All I can tell you to do is to keep the mouse traps set constantly & put bait in the roof! Good luck getting rid of them!

Re: Mouse in the House!!!

What is this about the mouse...do you guys have like huge scary mice???  They are a few ounces at best...if you are feeding them well maybe a tiny bit larger, grant you they should be outside cause I feel they are dirty unless we can figure out how to stop them from do-doing every where but they will not attack and I have yet to hear of one winning an arm wrestling match...itty bitty cute little mice!!  Well at least we have cute ones!!!

Re: Mouse in the House!!!

arghhhhhh time to get a new cat,, lol.. i found that if i covered all the holes in the carpets with steel wool they cant get in, might have to do a crawl around the house and see where they are coming in...

Hope you catch them all...

What good is the cat????? LOL  Hopefully the traps will work, just remember that where there's one mouse, there's most likely more!!!!

Good luck catching them.
