Jacquelyn and James are settling in well.
Although the feeding cycle feels non-stop!! Every three hours seem to go VERY fast. They go back to sleep straight away as they are so young. For now LOL.
Surviving on coffee and minti really!!!
Keiraleah has taken to them really well. YAY. I didn't know how she would react so its great that she loves them. When they're awake, she smiles, giggles and kisses them. So cute. Keiraleah looks like a giant to me now LOL.
Sami has been fantastic, changing and feeding them sometimes. She did this with K as well. She'll definitely be a good mum one day!! A GREAT helper!!
Sorry I haven't had a chance to post any more pics yet. Time flies and I just haven't managed to get around to it. I will for sure soon.
Thats it for now, a quick HELLO to everyone!!! Cya all soon.
PS: I still fly by everyones blogs etc. even if I don't comment, I'm still around LOL

James and Jacquelyn just wouldn't wait any longer. All Saturday and Sunday I had contractions on and off. Nothing I couldn't handle but they were getting stronger by Sunday night. They'd start for a few hours and then stop for a few hours more. I was chatting the whole time, saying when I had them. No worries I kept joking just big brackston hicks. But I did warn Shane and Sami that things were close.
Monday I woke at lunch time. They were definitely stronger, a lot stronger. Not with any consistency, so I just ignored them for a while. Stopped again for a few hours as well. Then, just as i was still chatting online hehe they came back with a vengeance. I said I might ring the hospital just in case knowing that the twins were transverse and I couldn't deliver them naturally. Yes, they suggested i come in straight away.
When I got to the hospital after a leisurely one hour drive, I was 3 cm dilated. No need to panic they said but i had to have a cesarean within the hour. Within the hour! Now i started to worry.
But i needn't have as things went very smoothly, even joking with the nurses in the theater. Although it did seem very surreal. This was my greatest fear for this pregnancy, yet here i was almost looking forward to it as the labour pains started to bite.
Not fair to have labour pains AND a c- section!!!!
Jacquelyn and James were born on the 14th April at 7:28 and 7:30 at 34 weeks and 5 days. Unfortunately i didn't get to hold them straight away as they were off to the neonatal intensive care unit (nicu). I was in recovery for a few hours until i could get to see them. Yes thats the attractive photo that Shane uploaded. Kill him for that later.
the twins spent 7 days in the unit. the first 3 in a humidicrib. It was very hard to see them so small and fragile. I practically willed them to get better. I was told it could be a few weeks before they could go home at first. Everyday was different news, depending on how they went in the night. Well, they proved little fighters!! They soon learned how to suck and wonderfully put on weight. I was very lucky.
Once they were out of the unit, they wanted to see if i could cope with two premmies that needed 3 hourly feeds. I haven't slept much since lol. The feeding does seem almost constant sometimes. Feeding them fast seems to be the only way hehe
Finally we were given the all clear to come home. YAY. and a decent cuppa as well lol.
The feeding continues around the clock. Premmie babies must be kept warm at all times and if they dont put on enough weight they might have to go back to the unit. I'm to ring 24/7 if I need to.
Keiraleah has decided she loves them and has already given them a kiss. Sami has given one a bottle and is chief nappy helper.
Yes I'm busy but loving it!!!!!
A special thank you to dannii17 for the bulletin announcement
This was the first pic we took at home. Jacquelyn on the left, James on the right.

I love my family Had the best day today with my Dad, Mum, Aunt and cousin. Not a big family, I know, but we all hadn't been together for nearly 8 months. Thats a very long time for us! Being an only child, I spent a lot of time with my Aunt growing up. Almost like a second mum. We used to have a family dinner each week.
Of course Keiraleah made herself the star of the day, trying to climb the table, giving everyone presents of grass from outside and dancing around. How she will react to the twins coming home will be anybodies guess!
Sami made a home made pop-up card for mum. She loved it. It was really done well, everyone was impressed by her creativity.
And naturally we all ate way too much food but haha still had room for yummy chocolate cake!
It won't be long before I see everyone again when the twins are born. Even Annie! I really noticed her abcence today. I'm always worried how that child of mine is doing. Aw well, at least I get to see her soon. |

Today was my 34 week check up at the clinic. I had this strange feeling on the way there that they were going to say something about having a c-section.
How right I was!! Not a suggestion any more but a definite!!!!!! So now I am booked for a ceaserian (sp?) on the 1st of May.
Funny that, I made it to May LOL If I go into labour before then, I still have to have one, even though it'll be an emergency!! The twins are interlocked with not much hope of them being able to get into the right position.
Crap, theres no way out!! Thinking positive though, I don't have to go through labour pains which is a big bonus. I always knew it was on the cards with twins, so I'm not really surprised.
Just NERVOUS !!!!!!!!!!

A few days and look what happens! Loving the new Minti features.
I couldn't stand lying down for any longer. Had to the other days though, not well at all. The doctor thinks I could go into labour any time from now on!! Had a few strong contractions but they then stopped. Phew!!
Going to the hospital tomorrow for another check up. Mainly to see what positions the twins are in. they seem to be interlocked at this point, so a c-section is still on the cards. I don't really care at this point. i'm sick of feeling crap and just want them out!!! I can hardly move at the moment and if i do, it hurts! Boo hoo!! Seriously running out of room in there for both of them. The twins both weigh about 5 pounds now. thats what the others all were and that was only one in there. I 'm a short and small person so well, there's not much of me any more, its ALL baby!
Mum, Dad, my Aunt and cousin are coming for lunch on friday. Today is my mum's birthday, tomorrow is their 43rd anniversary and on the 18th is dad's birthday! We always celebrate with one big family lunch in April.
The way things are going, there could be 2 more birthdays in april LOL
Just want to say thanks to everyone who sent me well wishes over the last few days.

A bit of background info for perspective......I had been married for 10 years to an alcoholic who never even sat in the same room with me and the kids for the last 4 of those years.
Then went from the frying pan into the fire. In DV relationship for 5 years
Yes, it was a shit time relationship wise. I could really pick 'em. Needless to say, these relationships had no romance at all, ever. The first one was to drunk to go anywhere and the second, well, you could imagine. Not trying to whinge- this was just how it was.
Third time lucky. I met someone who treated me so well i thought it was too good to be true. Was this man for real? He met me when i had a 3 month old baby plus the other 2 girls, knew what i'd just been through and said to his face that all men were scumbags.
But he didn't give up. We became friends.
One day i was so tired i just had to have a sleep. "no worries" he said, "i'll look after the kids for a while".
When i woke up, he and the kids had cleaned the entire place from top to bottom. It was emaculate(sp). Not only that, due to my situation, i had lost most of my furniture and stuff. He had bought a new TV stand and bookshelves for the girls, and a computer table!!!!! WOW. I couldn't believe it!!!!
No one had ever done anything like this in my entire life. Heck, I didn't even know it was possible. My surprise was total.
Yes, we are together and waiting for the arrival of the twins. He makes me feel very special, nothing is a problem between us. I never thought i could have a decent relationship but i was wrong. I do.
Sorry if this isn't all flowery and soppy but thats just not me.
DA, its your turn next!

Well, dad did come round again this morning and i was ready for him lol. Made sure the alarm was on but didn't need it in the end coz i was a bad girl and didn't sleep.yeah i know .
I went for my u/s and everything still looks good. The best part is that the bubba's are starting to turn.!!!! So thank you everyone who was sending me vibes that they would. Keep sending them please, coz they're not all the way around yet!!
The rest of my week has been very quiet. This resting thing is really getting on my nerves. I've been resting so much, i think thats why i cant sleep at night.
The tiny terror, known commonly as my daughter Keiraleah has discovered pencil and paper. She scribbles away for hours which is great. It gives the lounge climbing and stereo killing a rest. The best thing she has been doing is eating!! I know that might sound a bit odd, but she has the strongest gag reflex on earth and it has taken this long for her to eat ANYTHING slightly resembling real food. Spaghetti, other types of pasta, bits of chicken one night, its sooooooo great!!!!!!! Now if she could just get a few more teeth. She only has 4 so far and then only in the last 3 months. In every other way she is quite advanced(if i do say so myself). This catching up thing is a cause for celebration at dinner time.
Thats about it for now, time for a nanna nap! |
