TechCrunch covers Minti

Comment Published at 12:4012:404 comments4 comments77 Visits77 VisitsReport
Hi Minti'ers

Just to let you know that TechCrunch (a very important tech/start-up blog) covered Minti the other day in a blog post here.

Enjoy.

They basically covered a few points including...
  1. our member and article ranking algorithm
  2. how real people (members) are forming real relationships which are sometimes converting to offline relationships
  3. how there have been some serious life issues solved by Minti members offline
  4. the need for a parenting advice site

Kindest
Clay

Re: TechCrunch covers Minti
Hey guys,

Thanks to all who went over to TechCrunch and supported Minti, I certainly didnt expect anyone to comment on the article, but some of you obviously felt compelled to do so! It's nice to know we have such a passionate membership base

TechCrunch is indeed a great blog (dont let this experience sour your views on TC), it's focus is to cover tech Start-ups.

The techies in the comments were mainly concerned that the article was not releasing any "new exciting tech information" about Minti. The thing is that there are quite a few unique tech features under the hood of Minti (and the vibEngine), however it is hard for outsiders to see mainly due to a few things...
  1. We have made Minti look so user friendly
  2. TC readers in general have not really put the time and effort into singing up to Minti and giving it a real test
  3. a "parenting site" is certainly not exciting to the vast majority of the readers
  4. a few of them may be a little jealous that we got coverage and their start-up perhaps hasn't
  5. and lets face it, it's easy to sit behind a computer and bag something
Cheers
Clay

I think that it is great to have Minti featured in any online forum.  Even the techie ones!  Rachel did a wonderful job of wording up Minti and it makes me proud to be a member.  Thanks guys.

Re: TechCrunch covers Minti
I read the article and found it interesting...I THEN READ THE COMMENTS AND WAS WONDERING WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE and i was glad Rachel responded.  Minti is a fantastic site that helps people, just ordinary people looking for advice and if they want more it is there like friendships and a lifesaver. It doesn't ask you to give your life story but it gives you the opportunity to tell people what you what them to know and gives you support when you need it. I log onto Minti nearly everyday and the days I dont   I wonder how my online friends are...as there is a lot of lovely and supportive  people on Minti...  JENNY

Re: TechCrunch covers Minti
I think the people on there are looking more towards a tech-based thing - not looking at the site through the eyes of a parent (or placing themselves in the shoes of a parent if they aren't one).
