RSS Feeds - colloquially known as "Really Simple Syndication" but is really called "RDF Site Summary" or "Rich Site Summary".
It's used mostly for media sites or blogs. Most of these sites will indicate whether there is a RSS feed, usually by a orange box with a small white dot and 2 white )'s. This button appears in the address bar if it's available.
When you press this button, you are usually directed to another page of what the 'site summary' is. You can then subscribe it by adding it to something called a "Feed Reader", where you can hit the update button and see if there is anything updated on the sites you've subscribed to.
