Photos - Earth Hour

Comment Published at 07:0007:004 comments4 comments2493 Visits2493 VisitsReport

Here are some photos of Earth Hour.

I turned out our lights... did you?

Here is a satellite photo of 8PM everywhere around the world last year. Not sure how they did this exactly, but it was obviously done by satellite...

Cause for concern...

Great to see this year...

A photo that this person argues is inaccurate...

City of Perth... well done!

I think it does look a little bright too... But then again, i have driven thru George street a few times and wondered why i had my lights on.

We did our bit here. Although i missed the 8 o'clock mark and had to start 15 minutes late

Re: Photos - Earth Hour

I would have to agree that the first photo looks a little on the bright side. I hope that it does make a difference though. Do we really need all these lights on all the time. I have taught my kids to sleep in the dark from day one. A light while sleeping is so annoying. I don't like sound or light while I sleep but in working in child care in peoples homes I am amazed at the amount of people that think it is necessary for kids to have a night light and radio playing in the background. How can you sleep properly and soundly with all this. I don't doubt it is going to get worse.

Re: Photos - Earth Hour

I actually went out on Saturday night. I didn't realise it was Earth Hour til mum told me last week. My parents did their bit though.. they turned all the switches off except for the tv to entertain them for a few hours. Yes, they did Earth Hours.

Apparently my cousin came back late to the house and the parents had already switched all the power points off, so he ended up having to take a bath by candlelight. How romantic.
