15 years ago when my youngest daughter was 1, I remember standing on my back verandah and saying to God, "What is it I should do as a career".  Considering I had 4 young children under 5 I think I should not have said a thing!  I struggled with the TAFE career tests... that didn't help... it came up with social worker, accountant, secretary, lawyer, teacher and artist of all things.  My husband and I decided to do a role reversal and he elected to stay home while I studied.  A certificate, Diploma, Degree, Training certificate and many years later... I do everything that the TAFE career tester said I may like to do.... I am a debt mediator... (or aka financial counsellor/accountant).  Dealing with people in financial crisis... you have to be part social worker (only did a certificate in social work - but it sure helps).  Accountant ... well got my degree in that, despite lecturers telling me I was too old to go into public practice... guess what, I am now tax training and am a partner in a new company... Secretary... Associate Diploma in Admin sure helps as it is the life blood of my businesses... Lawyer... did not finish my law degree but working with people in financial difficulty you have to know the laws etc... Teacher ...
