yesterday

Comment Published at 15:2115:215 comments5 comments26 Visits26 VisitsReport

I sit outside my lounge room door everyday to have my coffee and ciggy ( we have a huge rooftop) for the past few months i have had this girl pigeon that has sore legs come and visit me and at times also either fly to my kitchen window and wait for me or sit next to my chair outside ,,at first she had alot of trouble walking and sitting right ,, i used to hand feed her and give her water everyday ,, a few months later i started to see a change in her ,, she could walk alot better and seemed in bettter health ,she used to stay next to my chair till late at night when i used to go out to have my usual ciggy and coffee and also at times be almost under my chair for protection,,

i saw her early yesterday day morning and she was up on my wall outside watching me ..

my son had started his fevers again so i didnt have my usual ciggy time with her . but i didnt think anything of it as she looked good that morning ,,

it was only after i had put my son down for his napp and went to the kitchen to make a coffee she few next to my window and sat down in the sun ,,

I opened the window and started to have my little chat to her ( yes im a little weird but she always came to me and she was a wild bird ,, i had become attached to her as much as she was with me )

she started to act a little funny she looked a little distressed also and wouldnt eat the food i threw out to her ,,

so i went outside next to her to see if she was ok ,, i brang her water also ,,

she looked like she was trying to get comfterable wiggleing arround and stuff..

this stressed me i didnt know what was wrong or what to do ,,

so i jumped online and mel was there and she gave me the number for wires to call ( thankyou mel),, they inturn told me that i could take her to a vet and they will take care of her ..

That was my next stress how do i take a pigeon to the vet i dont drive or even have a car and my sons ill ,,

i called up my friends mother and spoke to her caring flatmate , she inturn called up my friends mother to call me ,, she said she will be here in a few hours to help me with this bird ( they knew about this pigeon cause i had spoken to them about it before )

i just sat next to her and she twisted arround and just looked at me thats when she died..

I know to some its strange and to them its only a pigeon , but to me it was more .. she came to die next to me cause she felt like she had a safe place to do it ..

It really broke my heart though ,, Im just glad shes not suffering anymore

my friends mum came here in the afternoon to take her away to burry her in her garden  I was soo grateful for that ..

Re: yesterday
Oh dear - it is like she came to say good bye to you.  I am sure that she was really appreciative of the love and attention that you gave her.  I am sure that you made the last part of her life very special - I would like to think that she is looking out for you and your son - I do believe in Karma just a little, and fairy tales - just imagine if she was like a fairy god mother in disguise.

Re: yesterday

Awwwww  That's so sad.....  I had a budgie growing up I was about 11 when a neighbour gave him to me and he was the crankiest bird ever....whenever you put your hand in to change his water and food, he would have a go at you....but I loved him and pampered him with treats, gave him baths (he loved to sit in the laundry tub under the tap and just play in the water) I always talked to him.  He was in my room on stand.

When I was 19 yrs old I moved out of home and of course he came with me. Well one day, He was outside enjoying the sun and I noticed that he wasn't looking or acting right so I bought him inside and opened up his cage, when I put my hand in to get him he didn't have a go at me. I picked him up and took him out and just sat down on the lounge and had him snuggled in to me. Well I just knew something was wrong, so we took him to the vet and the vet said that he was just old (10 yrs, very unusual for a budgie to live that long) and you know that didn't even cross my mind at the time....He just said to go home and make him as comfortable as possible. That night while snuggled into me my budgie passed away.....I buried him in our garden.......

Re: yesterday

we also have a budgie and hes about 6 years old or more ,, ive been thinking that hes time is comming on soon also ,, i dont take well to animals in pain or dieing on me ,, my boys where given the budgie at their days house for a present ,, along with others ,, their father and other brothers never looked after their and they died so me being me and thinking about them being treated bad and neglected i told them to bring them here so we will give them a better life,,

one got out of the cage and flew away the other one is still with us and is very tame ,, im know its going to break my heart when they one leaves us also ,,

Thats why i dont have any pets ...i cant handle it when they die even know i know its a part of life ...

this also made me sad reading about your budgie

huggs right back to you also xxx.Debbie

Re: yesterday

I think i emailed you about it ,,not sure ,,

I wish it didnt die next to me ,, but then again she did it cause it was a safe place to go ,, so in that way i guess i should feel honoured also .. but its still sad ,, i was dreaming about her alot lastnight ..

One of my twins liked her also ,, he used to say all the time that mabe thats his sister reincarnated...

not that i fully undestood why he was saying that ,,

he was sad also ,,, every time he saw the pigeon he used to call me if i wasnt there to come outside and see how our friend is doing ,, the pigeon also like him
