So, we're back to square one.

Hubby and I went to a midwives info session on Monday evening.  We drove for 20 minutes for a 30 minute session.  All the other couples signed up immediately, while we sat there thinking we probably wouldn't.  They have a "huge" waiting list and we were told when we left that we had to let them know right away.  There was such a sense of urgency about it, a little over the top.  The session didn't even give us any new information really.
The problem is that for ultrasounds and if there was anything that required me to be seen by a doctor I would have to drive at least 30 minutes to the hospital, which is where I would deliver as well.  They give 6 weeks of after care which appealed to me and while they do visit you at home the first week, after that I would have to drive there once a week, not so nice.  I think that if we had gotten in at the local midwives group the decision would have been harder.
We have decided to go with one of the doctors with privileges at the hospital where Chris works.  He knows them and their birthing rooms are really nice, your own shower and even a VCR, and the great thing is you stay in that room for your whole stay, totally private!
So now, we've put in a call at one doctor, our first pick, we're just waiting to hear if she can take us, well I guess, me.  If not, we go on to the next one.  But I hope we hear back soon because I have a feeling I'd already met with my doctor by this time when I was pregnant with Arianna.
I've had a couple bad days this week, with nausea and serious fatigue, but today has been a lot better!

hope things work out

I can't even pretend to understand how the Canada healthcare system works, but this sounds very very frustrating. You want things lined up and in order so that you can just relax as much as you can.. and I hope it happens this way for you!

I hope your nausea and fatigue disappears soon! Sounds like you're pretty busy lately.

I had a great doctor with Arianna, she's just not delivering anymore and my family doctor doesn't do referrals to midwives, so ... we had to find our own.  If we did go with his OB referral, it'd probably be to someone with privileges where we don't want to deliver, so that's sort of our own fault.  I really hope I can get through to the doctor today.

Cant believe the hassle this is for you!  I wish you good luck getting in with the doctor that you want.  The facility sounds amazing!!!

Oh...that all sounds like a hassle! You don't need hassles, you need someone you like to help. I thought it was going to be you and your husband choosing someone you liked to be there for you. I should have read your blog before I asked if you found a good one. That's me! Well...I can't believe it is this hard for you,it's like the year when we had just moved to Miss. into the new(then it was new!) Meadowvale. The doctors were on strike and there was only one guy that everyone in the area had to go to. You waited all day to see this poor really old guy who looked like he was going to fall over. I had two babies I had to take with me...fun! No, not really. We have to put vibe effort into this working out for you. So,I've started to send out extra good vibes. Dramamom will find the right doctor, the right place and it will all work out.

We're still waiting to hear back from our preferred doctor, although that's just going on how Chris knows her at the hospital.  I have to call her today.

Sounds pretty frustrating!  Finding a good doctor can be a headache, eh?  Well, hang in there.  I hope all works out and you are feeling better soon :)
