He's gone.

Well, my hubby left for Honduras this morning at 2:30.  He drove up north to meet some of the rest of his team and then headed to the airport.  They had a 6:30 flight out of Toronto, with a 3-hour stop-over in Miami.  As of now, at 2:41 by my computer, he should be in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.  He should also have gotten the little note I tucked into his passport.    Yes, I'm like that.  I guess they'll get settled into their hotel and then he'll be able to email me that he's arrived safely.
He's getting the chance to be a pharmacist for the poor there, dispensing medication at mini-clinics.  They'll set up in one spot for one day, help a few hundred people and then move on to another place the next day.  I've seen photos of some of the places they'll be working.  One of them he has to work in someone's house because there's no room for him anywhere else.   In another spot they'll be setting up tarps and then in another they'll be working out of a school that will close down just for them.
I'm so proud of him for doing this.  I'm glad he gets to have an experience like this.  I'm just going to miss him like crazy.  I wonder how Arianna will do.  She's such a daddy's girl.
I'm glad my parents and sister are coming today, in fact they were supposed to be here by now.  My sister will be staying here with me until Thursday when we will go to my parents house until Sunday evening.  Chris will be home sometime very early Monday morning.
I think they're finally here, so I'd better go.

ooh a note!

Wow, how lovely it must be for him when he sees your note! I may steal the idea, if you don't mind. My husband is going to Germany for a week in March, the week after my son's 2nd birthday. I'll be home alone with a todder, 2 small dogs and 2 munchkins in my belly that is starting to make my backache.

How long will your hubby be gone? Glad you're not alone so it wont' be so bad. Is this the first time you'll be apart? I'm sure Arriana will miss him and it'll all be very very obvious on the day he comes back.   When my hubby went to Germany last year (my son was just 14 months old), we picked him up at the airport. The minute my son saw his daddy, his mouth opened wide and he got a big grin on his face and ran towards him! It was priceless...and it made his daddy feel really realy good. So this time around, he wants us to drop him off and pick him up again just to see the same reaction.

ooh a note!
Go ahead, it won't really be stealing.

He's gone for a week, but we won't be able to pick him up at the airport.  He lands just before midnight; it'll probably be 2 or 3 in the morning before he gets home.  But I can't wait to see Arianna's face when he gets her out of bed on Monday morning.
I was supposed to call him at 8 tonight but we didn't get home soon enough.  We were out for dinner to say good-bye to a friend.  Now he's at dinner, so I'm waiting until 10.  An hour and a half is long enough for dinner, isn't it?

Have a lovely week
Thank you.  I miss him, but my sis has already been helping me keep it together.
