Ahhhh!

Comment Published at 09:1809:1810 comments10 comments26 Visits26 VisitsReport
My mother-in-law and brother-in-law are coming on Wednesday and our house is a complete mess.  It's not too far from tidy, but it's not very clean right now, especially the bathrooms and there are boxes of baby clothes everywhere and the room where Mom will sleep is still a big painting mess (I have to finish stenciling which I can only do when Chris is home to watch Arianna.  The tapping of the paint brush woke her from her nap last time I tried that.)  I'm feeling the crunch and I don't have the energy to do much about it.  Ahhh!

Re: Ahhhh!

Wow, you have a lot on your plate! Isn't that a bit too much to do right now? .... hmmm... listen to me. I was doing a whole lot of things too at this time in my pregnancy.

How far along are you now? I hope this is not "nesting".

Re: Ahhhh!
As of today I am one month exactly from my due date.  I'm praying this little one doesn't come late like Arianna did.  Oh I'm sure that some of this is nesting, but hubby has been so great.  I haven't actually had to do all of this.

Re: Ahhhh!
Thank you so much for all your wonderful comments.  I'm not letting it stress me too much.  I'm going to do one bathroom today and one tomorrow.  Hubby is helping in getting the room set-up for Mom (there's no furniture in there yet) and the stenciling will wait.  If I get to vacuuming, I get to vacuuming.  It's not really like me to stress out like that.  I guess I was having a "moment".  Now I'm off to start a load of laundry.  Thanks again.

Re: Ahhhh!

oh sweetie don't stress out please, the house looks lived in that's what they are meant to look like, you have kids and a hubby, you aren't expected to have a house that looks like a hospital all sterile and super clean, take it slow and don't do to much in one go

you'll be fine and it will look the way you want it to in time

Well, I always have the bathrooms sparkly when we have guests - as that is good hygiene... As for the rest, it just shows that your house is lived and loved in.  Don't stress, they won't - in fact, if you send them out for walks with bubs, you can tidy after they come - or they can help you.  Or even better, you will all be having too much fun to care!

Re: Ahhhh!
Slow down, worry not most mil's are human and were mums once. I get the impression that most want desperately to show off the organisational skills they learnt over the years. Option 1: Welcome her in, big hug, strong cuppa then hand those boxes of baby clothes over for sorting. Option 2: Welcome her in, big hug, strong cuppa then hand bub over while you have some long forgotten, uninterupted domestic time. You could also test her teaching skill and hand sheets to bil to see if he has been listening to the teacher, then you and mil could mark his efforts out of 10.Good luck.

Re: Ahhhh!
Well, make that your goal then! Start with the thing which is making you blush/squirm the most (toilets?) & pace yourself eg one loo a day, and then if you have any time/energy over aim for 1 tap a day! Does A like cleaning yet (forget how old she is) - when my DD1 was 2 she started to like "cleaning" the basins, so I gave her a sponge and a squirt of washing up liquid in it and told her to get on with it! Figure it's got to finish better than it began!
