My Recent Gifts

Me and My Family

I'm a mum of four ranging the spectrum of ages, who after living in the city picked up our stuff sold up our house, left our business & moved to semi-rural Victoria 4 years ago & haven't regreted a thing.  My partner of 23 years is a jeweller & I make hand made toys & we try & live as self sufficiently as we possible can.  The less money we have to spend the better.  Two of our children go to a Steiner School one in year 8 Phoebe & 7 year old Perry who is now in grade 2 this year.

My other two Otto is 3 & Lottie our latest edition is 7 months born on 8/8/08.  I would have loved ideally to have 6 kids as it is my lucky number, but I pushed the bounderies with numerous health issues so all my births have been c/sections & I have been told definitely no more. Also I have to start looking at how old I will be when all the kids have left home.

We live with our dog, chickens & duck on 1/2 an acre with a beautiful outlook in a little old house, we have alternative views & try not to conform to the mainstream lifestyle.  So I enjoy being an at home mum in this lovely little enviroment we have made for ourselves that will for ever morph & transform.

Schools almost over yay!!!

Comment Published at 04:3704:371 comments1 comments7 Visits7 VisitsReport

Tomorrow is the last day of school for my kids this year.  I can't wait, everything at this time of year is such a rush & so much to do. So its good to have the kids home & not have the morning rush baking cakes or muffins, making lunch & making sure the kids are out the door so they arrive at school on time.  Then on top of that is all the extra school comitments at this time of year music concerts, family picnics, plays & tonight was the final a traditional xmas story done by the class teachers & it was actually quite funny, but a little long especially for 2y.o's.  Mine along with many had to be taken outside to vent some energy.  Then there is tomorrow helping making pizzas in the wood fired ovens my daughters class has recently finished as a class project.                    So I am looking foward to a few sleep ins (past 7am) & doing some things with the kids & slowing down the pace a little.

fruit & our water

Comment Published at 17:1817:181 comments1 comments9 Visits9 VisitsReport

My 2 yo loves fruit he has just consumed a punnet of strawberries whilst I have been on the computer & proudly came & told me there were none left for his brother & sister.  I'm always hiding or putting fruit out of his reach because he loves it so much & it is hard to explain that 1/2 a kilo of cherries are delicious to eat but not such a good thing.

Took the kids to a rally yesterday about logging in our water catchments near where we live, we're all being told to reduce our water consumption but the government is happy to log our trees in old growth forests.  There was heaps of kids their which was great to see it's important for them to learn about these things, its there future! We all want the best for our kids, but we shouldn't do it at the planets expence.

No rain

Comment Published at 16:3416:340 comments0 comments8 Visits8 VisitsReport

Sitting at home on a Saturday what should be a beautiful spring day.  We are contantly being told about this drought we're in, but not here.   We live in one of the wettest parts of Vic.  It is cold so the fire is raging & all springs rain has arrived today, it is pouring we won't be attending the working bee for the new arts & community space I guess.  I'm also glad that I haven't put my veggie seedlings in yet they would be swimming, floating or maybe drowning....
