The Road To Recovery

by FrontierComment Published at 19:2819:280 comments0 comments85 Visits85 VisitsReport
After a couple days of gastro I am on the way back. Lookout .
Still aching all over but managed to keep some food down. It is amazing how we turn to Vegemite on toast when we are crook.

I feel like I have lost 2 days and now have to make it all up. It is great how my kids have been so good to me and got dressed for mum (she had to change her day around to care for the boys) and behaved themselves. You know you are being a good parent when they reward you with such kindness and behaviour.
I sat on the steps yesterday really feeling ill and my 4yo came up to me and said "daddy can I sit next to you?" and he did. He just sat there and looked at the ground with me.
My wife has been great too. Changing her routine, it was funny her asking me what the boys like for thier breakfast and so on. She is glad I am back on deck too.

Being sick really makes you appreaciate the time you are well.

I don't Like Being Sick

by FrontierComment Published at 20:1220:122 comments2 comments100 Visits100 VisitsReport
Just in case you are wondering I am still alive but not very active as I have a major gastric upset at the moment. I have my 4yo home with me on Tuesdays and I feel bad because I cannot do anything with him.
He has fallen asleep on the couch watching the Wiggles so I have had a chance to rest a little.
One thing I can do for short stints is sit at the computer and fluff around.
I downloaded an Australian dictionary extension for Firefox and it highlights mispelt words (but wont fix them) so my spelling should improve a little.

Ok , got to go again, may be back later. .

Oh I must thank my wife for sharing this gastro with me.

Leaving Minti

by FrontierComment Published at 17:5517:552 comments2 comments111 Visits111 VisitsReport
Well just for a little while. Here I am  sitting here on a beautiful day with my 4yo son . He is playing cars and I am playing Minti on the computer.
As much as love you guys in Minti I have to tear myself away and play football outside for a while.

Just a reminder for those like me who get stuck in websites such as this. Stand up, have a drink of water and take your child outside for a little while, take a picture and tell us all about it.
You need at least 15 minutes of sun every day to keep you healthy and happy.
See you soon.

Here is this weeks effort.
Young mister 4 fell asleep waiting fo me to come and tuck him in. Looks like he was standing waiting for me and decided to rest his head. That was the last thing he remembered.

Total Attention Challenge (Part 1)

by FrontierComment Published at 22:2322:230 comments0 comments84 Visits84 VisitsReport
Welcome to part one of my Total Attention Challenge where I intend to create 3 times per day when I give 100% attention to my children.

Part 1 will describe what I currently do as a stay at home dad who runs his own business from home, and the house and the kids . The best way to this would be to describe a standard day.

Part 2 will list some observations and ideas I would like to put into the routine and this will be posted in a few days or a week.

Part 3 will list implemented changes and this will be poosted next week.

Part 4 will give feedback on the changes and share the good and bad (if any) outcomes from the excercise.

So here is my day in point form:
  • Morning, boys have breakfast, get dressed and play on the decking for 10 minuters before we drive to school and kindi. While they do this I get dressed, have breakfast, cream up Nicholas (eczema) for 10 minutes, check emails and drive the boys to kindi and school.
  • 2 days per week Nicholas is home from kindi and we go to the park, kick the footy or other balls around. He watches DVD's (Wiggles mainly and Lion King) and we have lunch together in the back yard or on the decking if the weather is nice. On the days he is not there I go to my customers for home visits (I teach computers to pensioners and newbies) and earn a few bucks. When I stay at home I design websites and other Internet activities and this is when I may be robbing time from my boys as they are happy to watch TV or play with themselves.
  • Afternoons I pickup the  Boys from school and kindi at 3.30 (have to go in a minute ) and we come home where they play for a while and I prepare dinner.
  • 4.30 - 5pm i play in the back yard with the boys until 5pm when it is bath time. The boys have their bath and put jarmies on while I cook tea and crack a bottle of red to have with dinner.
  • 6pm we eat dinner and have show and tell where the boys tell us what they did in their days (this is even better if their mum is home from work on time).
  • 7pm we either wrestle on the carpert or play indoor tennis with a balloon (thats the current craze)
  • 7.30pm they watch Tv for a while and head off to bed.
  • I iether go to customers or my office to do work until 11pm-midnight.
  • Midnight -MINTI .
Stay Tuned for discussion on this and part 2. (gotta get the kids now)

The House to Myself

by FrontierComment Published at 21:5821:583 comments3 comments153 Visits153 VisitsReport
Ok, back to normal now. The kids are back at school and crache. i have the house to myself. .

All of a sudden it seams so quiet. Too quiet.  I will savour the moment and make the most of it. The vacuume is tucked in the wardrobe resting after almost daily activity for the last 2 weeks. I can start to put the back yard back into some organised fashion. All the lost balls should start returning from over my neighbours fence again. Yes..... all is back to normal. ..
