We took N to the Children,s Hospital for an IQ exam today to test for any issue with his skull reconstruction when he was 6 months old. He is now 4 and we cannot see any problems but this test will tell us if there any early signs of problems down the track.
We don't have the results back as yet but we are hoping there is nothing to worry about. I sat with him while he did the IQ test and he tripped on things I knew he could do and it was very hard not to help him as he kept looking at me for reassurance.
The doctor said she thought he underperformed as he may have been a little too reserved to give the right answers as in the end he was just saying "I don't know" to everything, even questions he had right earlier.
I will not take the tests too seriously (unless the doctors do) until he is a bit older.
He will have another test when he is around 6 or 7 so I am downloading IQ tests off the Internet to try on him. (If only I could understand what they were on about ) . |
