Childrens Hospital Visit

by FrontierComment Published at 05:2805:282 comments2 comments81 Visits81 VisitsReport
We took N to the Children,s Hospital for an IQ exam today to test for any issue with his skull reconstruction when he was 6 months old. He is now 4 and we cannot see any problems but this test will tell us if there any early signs of problems down the track.

We don't have the results back as yet but we are hoping there is nothing to worry about. I sat with him while he did the IQ test and he tripped on things I knew he could do and it was very hard not to help him as he kept looking at me for reassurance.

The doctor said she thought he underperformed as he may have been a little too reserved to give the right answers as in the end he was just saying "I don't know" to everything, even questions he had right earlier.

I will not take the tests too seriously (unless the doctors do) until he is a bit older.

He will have another test when he is around 6 or 7 so I am downloading IQ tests off the Internet to try on him. (If only I could understand what they were on about ) .

Eczema Clearing Up

by FrontierComment Published at 16:0616:062 comments2 comments113 Visits113 VisitsReport
It is such great news!
After sending our beloved pussy cat away we can finally see some light at the end of the tunnel with his eczema. He is sleeping better at night and his skin is clearing up.
I don't know who is happier, us or him but it is great to see his perfect skin coming back.

We are so glad we finally got some allergy tests done and I encourage other parents to push to get the blood tests done early in the piece if you feel you are getting knowhere with just creams and moisturisers. Our GP took some persistence to refer us to a dermatologist but now I know to  be a little more keen to seek different treatments if things are taking too long.

He is almost cleared up and I know eczema is still an issue with him but after 1 year I feel we are better equipped to deal with it.

Here are the boys proudly showing off their Holden Racing Team suits they got for Christmas.

The boys thought the suits were more like the uniforms from the Starship Enterprise so they quickly armed themselves.

Frontier Says Hello :-)

by FrontierComment Published at 05:0105:012 comments2 comments76 Visits76 VisitsReport
Hello world,
just popping in to kick my blog over as Christmas and the new year have taken its toll on me. .
I even missed the last Foto Friday so I will have to make up for that. Isn't it funny how you even loose track of what day it is when you are on holidays? The last few weeks have gone so fast I feel like they just didn't happen. But something did because the house is full of toys with my eldest son turning 7 on the 21st December and Christmas as well I think we all got a bit overwelmed by it.
To top things off I have had;
  • a cold
  • Asthma
  • gastro
in the last week so I have been a bit of a wet blanket but have manged to help my boys enjoy their toys.
I am having early nights at the moment to try and get some strength back and get ready to face the new year.
Hoo Roo for now
