We had visitors from Melbourne!

Comment Published at 23:5123:5136 comments36 comments75 Visits75 VisitsReport

We had some friends come over from Melbourne for a week a few weeks ago.  It was nice.  I met her and her daughter in the mothers group organized by our MCHN and we continued to get together up until we moved from Melbourne.  We were trying to organize something in Broome but with our USA holiday so close behind us, Dean couldn't take any time off work so they decided to come here.

We didn't do a great deal.  I worked 2 of the days they were here and had a "procedure" done on one of the days so really we only had 5 or 6 days of things to do and we had the weather to deal with as well.

We had pretty decent weather while they were here...a couple of rainy days but light rain and not all day.  But the latter part of their stay was marvelous.

We went into Freo to the markets had a coffee and then had a lovely lunch at Little Creatures Brewery.  The kids had a blast playing and checking out the boats.

Babychinos rock!

Another day we went to the E shed markets and had lunch at fishermans harbour.  Poor Harrison was so out of sorts with his sleeping and he was a bit sick too and he fell asleep during lunch...poor little tyke didn't even eat.

We went to the park a few times to give the kids a good running around.  Went to the park at Kings Park for families Lottery West...that park is awesome.

They went to the mint one day which they enjoyed.  Got Harrison a silver dollar fromt he year he was born.  It was cool.

They had a great time and it was wonderful for Harrison to have such a great playmate on tap 24-7.  He loved it.

Young love...

We went down to Marapana Wildlife Park which was great.  Lots of animals but they can get a bit full on with the feeding.  The emu's freaked me out!

Very hungry deer and a kangaroo

Petting the Koala

sohpie hugging the koala...isn't it the sweetest?

Couldn't come to WA and not stick your feet in the Indian Ocean.  Well, I may have been the only one to do so but the kids played in the sand and had a great time at Cottesloe Beach.

Baby chinos do rock...Harrison thinks so too.  And he often has the mono brow look as well.  Yes, I did the blog but couldn't add the photos at first cuz they were too large but Lui the computer whiz told me what to do...

Sorry for the confusion!

They are AWESOME, I especially love the ones of Harrison getting fresh with the little chickee, and the roo getting fresh with you ; )  Harrison is such a handsome wee man, and he is looking very grown up too.

Thanks Kiwi,

Picasa2 was super easy to use.  I can't take credit for the photos...I always forgot to get my camera out so had to rely on Robyn and Andrew for the happy snaps.  Thank goodness someone was on the ball!

Haven't been to that wildlife park yet. Looks good. Must take the kids there. Sounds like you had a lovely time. Good to see you around. The weather has been pretty good. Would have been cold for them seen as they come from Broome. Have a great weekend, Lynette xx

Re: We had visitors from Melbourne!

Nah, they weren't from Broome, they are from Melbourne, but we had talked about meeting in Broome.

It was great fun and the park was worth it.  Not too expensive and quite hands on.

Hi Janice,

Perth is lovely.  Even in winter!  My nephew and niece are still wearing shorts!  There is lots of fun things to do here.  And I would love to meet up with you for a coffee!  Just tell me when you are coming and I will be there for sure!

Re: We had visitors from Melbourne!

Cor chica, looks awesome!  Maybe you should become a family tour guide or something... What a great blog and I bet they had an awesome day.  The silver dollar sounds cool, I bet Harrison will love it when he grows old enough not to try to eat it ; )  All this blogging, woohoo, keep it up!

Re: We had visitors from Melbourne!

Hey Lui,

I think I am a better nurse than I am tour guide.  Will stick to my day job.
We all had a great time while they were here.  And yes, the silver dollar (from the year of the dog) will be a keepsake).

And the blogging...did it in two cuz this one was so long and was suppose to have pics but the pics are super large files and i haven't figured out how to make em smaller!  Still working on that one...

Re: We had visitors from Melbourne!

Download Picasa2, it will help you manage, edit all your photos.  You can use it to select the photos you want to upload, set the settings in option to resize them when they are exported (to a folder on your desktop), upload them to minti, and delete your resized folder... In the meantime, the originals stay in your files unchanged ; )

Re: We had visitors from Melbourne! Here Emz EMU's

The Emu is a large flightless bird. They stand to be 1.5 to 2 metres tall, and on average weight 36 kilograms. They have 3 toes, and long legs which allows them to run extremely fast. In this species, the female is larger than the male.

Australianfauna.com

Emu oil products are also very good for the skin... Human skin absorbs them very well, and they are very therapuetic products.  They just stick the Emu's in a vice and squeeze then the oil comes out their ear holes.

(OK so I lied about the last part, but they are good products).

Re: We had visitors from Melbourne! Here Emz EMU's

i can vouch that emu oil is great for the skin i bought  a little bottle when i went to tasmania. its a bit on the expensive side but in winter my skin goes very dry from heating / air con and it works wonders

cheers annie
