Decision...

by HarrisonsMommyComment Published at 20:3320:336 comments6 comments31 Visits31 VisitsReport
I think we have decided to wait for my doctor before we proceed with IVF.  She is the doctor I wanted in 2004 but wasn't willing to wait for.  It is only a month and 1 cycle to wait.  It is nothing compared to what we have been dealing with and I want things to go well.  So really should be pregnant by end of June beginning of July!  Which is good too cuz it spaces out the birthdays a bit more too.  And I will be at a good point in my pregnancy to travel to USA in Dec.  I am pretty happy with that!

IVF

by HarrisonsMommyComment Published at 21:2221:224 comments4 comments24 Visits24 VisitsReport

Saw the fertility specialist yesterday.  We are a go for starting the process again.  If I choose to, we can start on my next cycle (in 2 weeks) but the doctor is going to be away for about 4 weeks so she won't be the one managing it.  I am a bit torn on what to do.  I chose her because I know she has good results.  I know one of her partners and he is good, don't really know the other.  I just don't want to risk a whole process and not end up with a positive outcome.

But, that is to be decided.  At least we know we are ready to go and there is nothing in our way.  I am so excited.  The thought that I could be pregnant in the next 5-6 weeks is amazing.

Harrassing....

by HarrisonsMommyComment Published at 19:5219:526 comments6 comments61 Visits61 VisitsReport

I don't know why I am even defending myself because if any of you think I was the one harrassing another member, this won't make a difference.  But, it is for my own peace of mind!

Below you will find the 2 emails I sent to sweet-bear after she reported me for my comments on anemia.  And in my view, neither one of them is harrassing in any way.

To: sweet-bear Subject: hello From: HarrisonsMommy Date: Thu 3rd May 2007 8:28pm   Sweet-bear,

I am assuming you got my first email and have just decided to not talk to me.  Which is fine.  If you choose to not talk to me about your feelings, that is fine, I won't email you after this.  I just wanted you to understand why I know it was you who reported me.

I don't know when it happens, but eventually you get Admin Functions.  That allows you to see any reported advice, comments, images, and members.  It is something I look at when I am online and that is how I knew it was you who reported me.

Anyway, just wanted to clear that up for you incase you thought it was someone who told me.

To: sweet-bear Subject: Reporting a member From: HarrisonsMommy Date: Thu 3rd May 2007 12:25pm   Hi Sweet-bear,

I am not sure why exactly you are reporting me.  In response to your statement that I "jumped on" another member, I disagree.  I was simply stating what I was taughtand was in no way being mean or malicious.  Below are two links that share this information.

I don't know if you are aware but when you report a member, it can result in them (me) being deleted.  If you have a problem with my comments, report them.

If I have said something to upset you, please accept my apology I didn't intend to do so.

Clarification...

by HarrisonsMommyComment Published at 18:2318:230 comments0 comments10 Visits10 VisitsReport
There is a disease called Aplastic Anemia.  This is a deficiency of ALL the formed elements of the blood representing a failure of the cell generating capacity of the bone marrow.  Yes, this is an anemia but also includes failure of the platelets.

Anemia

by HarrisonsMommyComment Published at 17:5117:517 comments7 comments118 Visits118 VisitsReport

I am going to put this here because I don't want to inflame anyone unnecessarily.  If you come to me to read this, beware as some of you totally disagree with me on this one.

I understand that a few women out there have been told by their Doctors that their bruising is a result of "anemia".  I don't doubt that is what the Doctor said or that it is what you heard.

All I am saying is that in my education (at one of the top 10 research universities in the United States) and in all of my nursing experience (9 years of cardiac, cardiac surgical intensive care unit, coronary care unit, and cardiac cath lab) no where have I ever heard or read that a side effect of anemia is bruising.

Without trying to sound like I am superior, the two have nothing to do with each other!!!!!!!!!

Anemia is defined as a disorder characterized by a decrease in hemoglobin in the blood to levels below the normal range, decreased red cell produciton or increased red cell destruction, or blood loss as defined by Mosby's Medical Dictionary 3rd Edition.  Red blood cells function to deliver oxygen to the tissues and organs in the body.  When there is anemia, there are early symptoms of fatigue, weakness, shortness of breath, and pale ear lobes, palms, and conjuntivae, as stated in Understanding Pathophysiology, Mosby.

Platelets are defined as the smallest of the cells in the body.  Platelets are disk-shaped and contain no hemoglobin. They are essential for the coagulation of the blood as defined by Mosby's Medical Dictionary 3rd Edition.  I would be happy to go into further detail if you wish but will not clog my blog  with those details.

I am happy for anyone to show me evidence (from reliable medical books, journals, texts, publications) that bruising is a sign of anemia.  And until that time, will continue to know that what I was taught is the truth.

I just also want to remind some of you that what a doctor says is not gospel.  Just as there are stupid nurses, there are stupid doctors, stupid cooks, stupid posties, stupid footy players (arent' they all), stupid police, stupid politicians, stupid parents, and the list goes on.

Maybe you could have misunderstood what your doctor was telling you?  Maybe your doctor didn't give you all the information needed for you to make an informed comment.  I don't know, I don't have an explanation for why a doctor would tell someone that anemia is the cause of their bruising.

I challenge every one of you to find out the truth.  And if I am wrong, please feel free to tell me.  I am certainly not above being corrected and would welcome new knowledge or information.
