It was an amazing first camp experience for both of them and it's so wonderful to have these memories captured for them here.
1. On Christmas Eve I open 1 present. I open pajamas or an ornament. No toys! The best for last I guess, or the best for Christmas morning.
2. On Christmas morning I wake up (I'm an early riser) probably no one is awake yet! If no one is awake I have to wait and wait and wait. Staring at the presents does not make it easier to wait!
3. Finally someone wakes up! It is my brother Jake. Then my parents wake up! Time to open presents.
4. After that my parents go to get the camera to take pictures of our faces when we see our gifts. I stick my hand in my stocking and usually there is candy, small activity books or small gifts.
5. After presents we eat breakfast and light the last candle on the Advent Wreath. My Christmas is probably not the same as yours but it is Christmas.
Today is World Aids Day. Does it matter? How does it affect our families?
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
James 1:27
One of the ways we can help is to give to a project called (Red)emption that a good friend of mine is putting together.
Alinea, Jacob, Keith & I all feel that this is God's heart for the nations. Please contribute if you are able. It's only $10.00, but together we can change the world.
1. What's your child's favorite book? Jacob loves Dragonology and Alinea is reading The Amazing Days Abbie Hayes series
2. What is your favorite children's book? I love juvenille fiction - too many to count. Right now we're reading George McDonald's "The Princess & the Goblins"
3. What is your child's favorite thing to eat? Jacob is a pizza man and Alinea can't seem to get enough spaghetti
4. What's your favorite thing to eat? Greek food
5. What's your child's favorite game? Jacob has been very into Battleship lately, but will play any and all games I agree to. He LOVES games. Alinea isn't as interested in them, but likes LIFE the most.
6. What's your favorite game? I am far too competitive to play games frequently. I enjoy them, but get a bit too involved sometimes. I played an amazing game at a New Year's party last year - Apples to Apples - can't find it in any stores - but it's one of the most creative games I've ever played - everyone gets to play - no right or wrong answers, if you can read, you can play. It's a lot of fun.
Well, I asked the kids what they wanted to do for TAC today and they wanted to take a walk - so we spent it all in one chunk. it is a beautiful day here - so it was very pleasant. We forgot the camera though - but the leaves and trees are just gorgeous!
Sistah Jen has sent out the challenge to be more present in our children's lives. 3 times a day, 10 minutes a day totally engage with your kids - I think if we all really did this we could change everything.
Alinea & Jacob deserve a mom who is engaged in their lives and really listening.
