Auction

Comment Published at 07:3907:392 comments2 comments15 Visits15 VisitsReport

Yesterday we took our male sheep and 4 ewes to the auction, the male had learned to jump the fence, and nothing would keep him in, when he was penned up he still tried and would get his legs caught and dangle there untill someone came along and noticed.  So he is now sold!  But when we went to open the gate to drive back into the field my husband saw my duck had died, it did not appear to have been hit by a car, it looked like ants got it!  I was a bit sad, cause I like ducks, and he was a neat one, you could pet him.  We took teh kids to the auction with us, and the dogs.  Then we sat and watched the auction, from begining to end for the normal sale, we did not stay for the slaughter sale.  We came home with a calf, an angus, it weighs 85 pounds.  I couldnt get it to nurse from a bottle, but I did get it to drink from a pail, this morning it is up and about.  My kids were so happy.  They are all sleeping still, I couldnt sleep last night and then I woke up early, so here I am lol....

Re: Auction

Oh and they say sheep are stubborn, me I think just determind not give up on their Quests,LOL. Shame about your Duck, poor chap, wonder if he was injured or do ants just get stuck in when disturbed? So is he/she an all black Angus or with a bit of colour to it. I like Angus Cattle, we had quite a few in our mixed herd at home in Scotland, they were characters all, and we had one all red, lovely youngster he was. Glad the kids are enjoying, having it around.
