today was a very special day,as 50 year ago,i rang a taxi and took my mum to the nursing home.that was about 4.30am, a nurse asked who i was waiting for and i explained that i bought my mum in to have a baby.my dad was somewhere out the back of upper hutt collecting the cans of milk to be bought in to be bottle ,hence why i was there for my mum.the nurse then said i had a new baby brother,i was excited and dissappointed all in one.i am the oldest of 9,6boys&3 girls.he was no 8.i asked to see my mum and the baby .i was so happy to hold him,i then got another taxi home and woke the rest of the household to give them the news, that was at 7am.then fell into my duties of getting the ones for school ready.i then done all the housework and got the bus back to the hospital with 2 younger ones in tow.well i helped raise him and was there for his 21st(i made the cake) and to-day 30th jan i was there too tell him about his arrival.mum was there also, but sadly she has had a massive stroke 4 year ago and it has left her bedridden and wheel chair bound.having shared his milestone today was truly a happy reminder of the day of birth which i was very lucky to have experianced.in the old days there was no such thing as cellphones.my dad learn't of the birth when he came in from work at 2.30pm,when i left him a note on the table too say what had happened.he was frantic with worry as to where i was with the 2 that didn't go too school.he bought us home from the hospital, and 4 days later came mum and the new baby.today's celebration is on video tape and on the digital camera.perhaps someone else has a simular milestone.
