It was 70F Outside!

Comment Published at 03:4603:469 comments9 comments33 Visits33 VisitsReport
This post is from from my other blog here

On Tuesday, it was 70 F. Yup. It's like summer! So I took the girls out for a walk in their stroller for the first time!

I thought they would end up flopping around from side to side, but apprently, they have grown bigger from the time they were born 8 months ago. How did that happen?! They fit in the stroller perfectly and enjoyed the warm windy day.

But before we even left the driveway, I get a call on my cell phone from the preschool.

School: Matty had an accident.
Me: (the word "accident" conjured up all sorts of bad images, but I tried not to freak out) Is he OK?
School: They were in the playground and he tripped over his own feet and hit his head on the playground stairs. He has a good size knot on his forehead.
Me: IS HE OK? Is he still crying? Is he confused?
School: He's not crying anymore. We gave him ice and he's behaving just fine. I just wanted to let you know.

I called the husband since he got off of work early today and was going to pick up our son. I told him Matty had just fallen and hit his head and has a good size knot on his forehead.

The picture in my head came nowhere near the real thing. It was a like a head growing out of his forehead. This picture was actually taken the day after, so it had already shrunk.

Ouch!  Just goes to show what tough nuts our kids really do have.  Guess that's why we have a hard time pushing them out! lol.

The girls look so comfy in their chariot!  The double prams are great, just gotta have a physics degree to work them! lol.

Re: It was 70F Outside!

I know just how you felt at the time of the phone call. I got one the same when Antony was seven, My hart stopped for a few minutes.   I needed to take him to A&E as he had a large cut . He'd sliped down school stairs banging the back of his head.

I'n sure I read some were that schools can get somthing  like that soft flooring that is under play grounds to put on steeps. We asked the school to apply some, under the safety issues.

I hope Matty is getting over it , what a lump ouch!

oooer, nasty egg on forehead, very ouchy! Glad he's otherwise ok. Worth taking a series of photos so you can see him get better. Em fell on a ladder rung at about his age and gave herself the biggest bruised nose and two black eyes. I found it comforting to see the daily change on the digital camera.

The girls look so cute! At least they're not up to arguing who goes up front yet!

Re: It was 70F Outside!

The thing is, I blame myself partly. He wanted to wear his fire truck shoes that lights up and I let him. The shoes is a bit big so I'm sure it contributed to the accident.  Plus, it's the first time they've played outside for very long since it's been too cold!

Please don't blame youself, steps and children do not mix. esp. steps in a playground it's just an accedent waiting to happen.
