Pushing

by IzzyComment Published at 19:3219:322 comments2 comments204 Visits204 VisitsReport
Matthew was pushed by an older boy yesterday (about 6 or 7 years old) at the local mall play area.  It happened right in front of the child's mother and she did not do anything about it. I was about 5 feet away following Matthew around. By the time I rushed to him to pick him up the floor, the other child was already at the far end. The mom yelled out to her son and said "Don't do that again!" and that was it. I was irked! Being a mom, I understand that kids will be kids.  I would not have been so irked if the mom at least apologized to me on behalf of her child, or made her child apologize to Matthew.  At least this is what other mom's have done and I myself do. Matthew is only 14 months and is not really talking yet, but I apologize on his behalf even on accidental things. I want him to grow up to be polite and responsible person.

I scared Matthew :(

I was outside setting up the sprinkler to water the lawn. On my way back inside, I saw Matthew through the window. I tapped the window and it scared him terribly. He shouted, "aaaah!" and stepped back and started to cry. I ran inside and hugged him. He didn't really cry since he saw that it was me, but I felt terrible. He's always loved being "scared". I've startled him a few times when he rounds the corner in the kitchen and he absolutely loves it. He even turns right around and rounds the corner a few more times just so I could scare him again. I must have apologized 10 times while I was hugging him.

I feel just absolutely horrible about it. I think that would be enough with the scares. I don't want Matthew to be jumpy.

Poor Koby

I was sitting in the livingroom this afternoon watching TV when Koby (the younger of my two miniature schnauzers) walked in front of me yelping. I checked her immediately to see what was wrong with her when she yelped the second time. My dogs wear remote control anti barking collars so I thought it must be mulfunctioning so I quickly took it off her. That's when I saw Matthew in the kitchen with the remote control. Naughty Matthew! It was on the table and he somehow reached it. Poor Koby! She's Matthew's best pal and she tolerates Matthew's quirky moods so I'm sure all is forgiven. I just have to place the remote control higher up.

I wanted to chew his head off!

I was expecting my husband's phone call at about 2am to let me know that he arrived in Germany. Two o'clock came and went and no phone call. I wasn't able to sleep well because I was worried and the bed is a little different without him. When Matthew and I got out of bed this morning, I rushed to the computer to check the that the flight landed and checked my email to see if he had emailed. Nope, no email, the flight arrived on time though. I was imagining chewing his head off when he does finally call.

Finally the phone call came at 9am. My husband didn't have the international phone number to access the company phone card. Anyway, I didn't have to chew his head off after all. He'd been wanting to call me the first chance he got because he knew I'd be worried.

I am my worse enemy in situations like this. I have a very active imagination that tends to run away from me... I bet I can write a short story book where one can choose different outcomes and all of them end up gruesome!

All alone

by IzzyComment Published at 18:3218:322 comments2 comments153 Visits153 VisitsReport

Matthew and I drove his daddy to the airport today. He is going to Germany for a week for work. Matthew, my two miniature schnauzers and I are all alone in the house. It will be a tough week. I may need to go on vacation once my husband returns. Caring for a very active toddler is exhausting!

My doctor visit

by IzzyComment Published at 12:2212:221 comments1 comments189 Visits189 VisitsReport

I had my yearly visit with my OB/GYN this morning. It was quite stressful preparing for it. I am a stay at home mom so Matthew goes with me wherever I go. Because he is so active and hates being strapped down in his stroller, I stress about going to any doctor appointments. So last night I went to the dollar store and bought a few new toys to occupy Matthew.

When we got to the doctor's office, I let him walk around and look around. Because there are so many new things, he loves it. Once I was called, I strapped him in his stroller and started giving him the new toys. It worked very well! I got through my appointment without a scream from Matthew. After that, I let him walk around the hospital (my doctor's office is in the hospital) and let him walk to the car. The mall was also close by, so we went there and played at the play area. It was quite a pleasant experience and nothing at all like what I was imagining the day would be.

Next week I have a dentist appointment. I am sure I will be stressing really bad as it gets near but I am sure it'll go well if I play my cards right.

My Family

by IzzyComment Published at 07:1007:109 comments9 comments216 Visits216 VisitsReport

Hello. I am 29 years old and a stay at home mom to a very active toddler. My husband is a process engineer working in the semi conductor business. Our son Matthew is 14 months old. He is very very active. We have dubbed him the energizer bunny since he keeps going and going and going. Matthew is also a big boy. He was born 9 lbs 14 oz. He now weighs 26 lbs. He has slowed down considerably and lost some of his chubbiness in his cheeks. When he was born his cheeks were so chubby and heavy that it just droops down. He is still handsome though...wherever we go, he manages to find admirers. I can only imagine what the future will hold for us as he becomes a teen.
