| Me and my girls (16 months) |
Welcome to my page! I am Izzy, the Minti Community Administrator. If you have any questions and concerns, Minti mail me and I will gladly help you out.
I'm a 31-year old stay-at-home mom and I've been married for almost 11 years to a my soul mate, MonkeyDad. Our son is Curious George, born March 2005. He is a very strong-willed, independent, highly intense little soul. On June 2007, we added 2 more to our small family. Thing 1 & Thing 2 are identical twins, born 6 1/2 weeks early. The pregnancy was a challenge, with its ups and downs, but in the got 2 healthy beautiful girls in the end. We are now a family of 5, and everyday is exhausting, but we are loving it.
I have a degree in Psychology and someday plan on expanding my education to either stay in the field of Psychology or Education , perhaps when the kiddies are a little older.

I took my son to a friend's party today and left the girls and baby with their Daddy. I knew I would be gone for a couple of hours, so when I bought formula and a pack of baby bottles today just in case baby got very fussy with hunger while I was gone. I breastfed before I left, so I didn't think baby would be too hungry. But after 2 hours being gone, I called to check on how everyone was doing, and Daddy reports baby is very fussy and wouldn't sleep. I went ahead and told him to give him the formula, which he apparently took without any trouble.
When I got home 3 hours later, I asked if baby had slept at all. Daddy said that he didn't and all he wanted was to be held. I asked if he put baby in his bed to sleep. Daddy said no. Hmmmm. Unlike Big M who needed to be rocked and held to sleep and kept asleep, Little M slept in his bed and actually didn't get good sleep anywhere else. But Daddy forgot all about that, so he never even let baby down. Now he's over tired and is taking a while to settle down in his bed.
This is what happens when the oldest is very much of a high-need baby, needing constant touch and movement and then our youngest is very low maintenance. |

Today is my eldest's 1st day of Kindergarten at age 5. We had a very early start to our day. I woke up the kids at 6am and by 7 we were out the door. Being the first day of school, it was a chaotic parking lot with parents dropping off their kids at the carpool, and some walking their kids in. I got emotional while we were still at home. Holding my 4month old in my arms, who happen to look exactly like Big M reminded me of when Big M was just a baby. It seems like yesterday that I was breastfeeding nonstop with barely any sleep. Now he is off to school. Having been in preschool since he was 2 years old, today was not such a big deal, but it is for me. *SNIFF SNIFF*
School systems are around the world are different, so I'm wondering if Kindergarten is the same in Ausralia? Canada? UK? Here in the US, Kindergarten start at 5 years old (though some parents hold back if they think their children are just not yet ready). It is the beginning of compulsory schooling. Before this time it's up to parents on whether to put their kids in preschool or not, at their own expense. So today, is the start of Elementary School (primary school). My son's school is from Kindergarten through Grade 5 and then they go to a Middle school (Grade 6-8), then High School (Grade 9-12).

I went to the elementary school today to pick up the school packet. It's a little confusing, but I got through it. There are forms to fill out, PTA to join, pick up/drop off procedures, etc. Tomorrow is 'meet the teachers' day so I will be bringing BIG M with me, or hopefully hubby can come home soon enough so we can all go. Then kindergarten starts on Monday, then informational meeting for parents on Tuesday evening. So much to do already! It's not easy, since hubby comes home late so on days like this he has to come home early for me to make it to the meeting.
Where has time gone? It seems like yesterday my big man was just a baby. But he has an answer, "It's because I'm the oldest, Mommy! I was here before my sisters and baby Michael!" LOL

ME: Why didn't you and Daddy get your pictures taken dressed up as knights or prince at the Medieval Times?
Big M: I didn't want to run out of time looking at all the other stuff.
ME: It would have been fun to dress like a prince!
BIG M: Nah. I want to be a knight not a prince because all prince does is romantic stuff.
***************************
BIG M: I don't want you to die, Mommy.
ME: I know, buddy. But everyone dies, but hopefully I won't die for a long time until you have your own children.
BIG M: But what if I can't find you in heaven?
ME: I'm sure you will.
BIG M: But what if the bad angels come and hurt you?
ME: Angels, are good.
BIG M: But if people go to heaven when they die, bad people go to heaven when they die.
****PAUSE TO THINK OF ANSWERS****
ME: Bad people have to go somewhere else so they can say sorry to God properly before they can go to heaven.
****Silence.... Phew! I didn't want to talk about hell and all that horrid stuff!
