We live in Alberta, Canada, and have for about 6 years. We have no family that lives within the area, or even within the province. Not having those resources and that support system has been the most challenging obstacle that we have had to face as a family.
Keith and I have been married since 2001. We were married just days before the terrorists attacks that shut the airports down that September. We had several family members "stuck" with us for the first week that we were married. We never took a honeymoon, as we had built a house and had only moved in 1 month prior to the wedding.
I currently run a day home - that is an in-the-home daycare that is family oriented rather than "business oriented". Running the day home allows me to stay at home with my children, while still exposing them to social situations with other children of different ages and cultures.
I really enjoy all kids. My priority right now is my own children. When they are old enough to understand, really, fully understand, I would like to open my home to foster children.
I have 3 children - 2 boys Jacob and Kolby and a new baby girl Lindsey.

This post is from from my other blog here Jake had his wrap up tournament this weekend for lacrosse. He had 1 game Friday night, and 2 games Saturday. He has a potluck bbq with the team on Tuesday at the park, but other than that, his season is over! Clap Clap Clap He scored during the 2nd period of the first game against the Okotoks team! He ran the ball down the floor, deaked a couple guys and shot from about 20 feet out and scored in the top corner over the goalie's shoulder!~! It was a good shot, Jake said he saw the hole and just aimed for it. He also got a penalty which brings his total pentaly minutes for the season to around 10. Oh, I am sooo proud! His first goal... what a kid! |

This post is from from my other blog here The time I mean. Where has is gone?! Jacob, kolby, Lindsey and myself went out to the lake for a week at the end of April. It was nice, the weather was decent and I had a really good visit with Lalena and the kids. We had a celebration with fun food and treats for all the kids. It was really great! Keith's parents are now officially residents there, and their first weekend as residents was the same weekend we were out there! We all went out for May long weekend. Keith picked up his motorbike - which was Wayne's. Unfortunately for Keith, the weather and opportunity have not been kind to his chances of getting out for a ride. Jake had his first lacrosse tournament in April too. He played 1 game on the Friday, 2 games on the Saturday and then 1 game on the Sunday. During his second game on Saturday, he was voted, by the other team, to get the Heart & Hustle Award! The tourney was in Okotoks, about 1 hour south of here. That was officially my first taste of travelling for sports. He has his wind-up tournament this weekend, on the south side of Calgary this time. Keith celebrated his 32nd birthday in May. No special events or parties. His brother celebrated his 27th birthday in May too. I'm still working at Coop. Well, I'm employed, but I don't really work so much! I have 1 four hour shift a week - if that. It is just a nice break from my regular routine. Plus I get paid AND I have no responsibilities! Kolby and Jacob are in gymnastics and seem to really enjoy it. Kolby isn't very good at following direction, but he sure LOVES jumping on the trampoline. Lindsey gets a break and spends an hour with some other kids who play very nicely with her! Thanks Michelle! My uncle had a heart attack. He is okay, and doing well. Scary though. He's not very old, early 40's or so. I am sending him and the fam the best thoughts I can. Sorta makes you re-evaluate what you're doing, and how you're doing things when a bombshell like that drops into your life. I am going to spend 5 or 6 weeks out at the lake this summer. Stay with Keith's parents, visit my darling neice and nephews and have some good time with my SIL & BIL. I will definately get to spend some Q time with my mom and dad in the Loops too. |

This post is from from my other blog here This year for Easter my mom and dad suggested that we have a tropical fruit experience. We had dragon fruit, mangos, papaya, brazil fruit, pineapple, lychee fruit, black grapes, rambutan, grapples, longan, kiwi, some sort of pears and tangerines. The grapples are neat - they are apples infused with grape juice. Look like an apple, but taste like a crunchy grape! The lychee fruit, rambutan and longan did not go over well - at all. But the kids were totally into everything else! We had banana muffins, cheese sticks, sausage rolls and sugar cookies too. Lindsey turned the big one on the 15th! She had a Strawberry Shortcake birthday cake, which she loved to bits! Here is Lindsey trying to put the lens cap back on the camera. Just a couple of pics of Jacob and Kolby being hams!

This post is from from my other blog here Jake had strep, Lindsey and Kolbs had ear infections, I had a sinus infection and water on the ear (whatever that means). Keith was sick, he had a bit of everything I think, sore throat, stuffed head, achy tired body! We were a real ugly bunch for while there! So training for the 5 and 10 k road races has been moving along. I've suffered serious shin and leg pain, bitter cold temperatures, being sprayed with gravel (totally my fault) and body exhaustion. BUT, I can do 4k no problem and should be able to do the 5k with a strong finish on the 20th. The 10k in May wil be a challenge, but I am actually looking forward to forcing my body to do it. Maybe it is forcing my brain actually? Either way I am looking forward to more road races in the future. I'd really like to do a trail race - still have more time before I could do that though. The Mother's Day Run event is held yearly and raises funds for the Calgary Health Trust. Specifically the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Units. Jacob was in Intensive Care for a, thankfully, brief amount of time. Knowing what it feels like to worry about your newborn, I would like to show my support for all the moms and dads who have to go through the pain of unknowing what is happening with their baby. The money is used to purchase equipment to better diagnose and treat those little babies. You can help me show support by sponsoring my run. Thank you in advance for your financial and/or moral support. https://eventsonline.ca/cgi-bin/events/forzani_cal/pledge.pl?id=JME0954665www.mdrunandwalk.com |
